The next 2 months are FILLED with MAJOR CD releases
I'm not Scorch, but my favorite track was Say it Ain't So.
Thasa spicey meatball.
That's impossible. You cannot pick a favorite track on the blue album. That's one of the best CD's i've ever heard in my life. If I had a gun to my head and had to pick a favorite, though, I'd probably say "Say It Ain't So" or "The World Has Turned And Left Me Here", with "No One Else" followed closely behind.. my least favorite track on the CD has gotta be "Only In Dreams".

Not all of the new CD is bad. I like "We Are All On Drugs" and the music in "Pardon Me". I mean, even the track names look emo. "This Is Such A Pity".. "Hold Me".. "Peace".. "Pardon Me".. "My Best Friend"..

The leaked album 5 was pretty good, it wasn't realy officially an album but more a collection of album 5 demos. "So I apologize to you, and to anyone else that I hurt too, I may not be a perfect soul, but I can learn self control, so Pardon Me, Pardon Me, Pardon Me my friend".. that's the main chorus to "Pardon Me".. I dunno, like I said, I love the music, I love the way the lyrics would sound, I just don't like the lyrics themselves.

I tried to load a song in Goldwave and strip a layer to hopefully remove most of the lyrics to some songs, and they weren't recorded in that style. I could do it with most songs on "With Teeth", some came out nearly perfect instrumentals. I did it with "My Best Friend", and it removed all the vocals but now it sounds like it's on AM radio, and it sounds a lot better without the vocals.

Except in the chorus when backup singers say "Love you".. *shudders*
See, that's the problem. Only In Dreams is hands-down my favorite track. Maybe I actually do like the emo? Or maybe it's the power chords? Or maybe it's the crazy ass built-up towards the end of the song and the perfect leveling off? Or maybe it's just the poetry, and how I feel I can relate to it. Only in dreams yaknow? yeah.... one of my favorite songs ever.

Seems a lot of you guys have (what I deem to be) decent taste in music... Allow me to make a suggestion. A while ago my HD crashed and I couldn't recover any of my music :( Twas a sad day. But anyway, if you're open minded.. check out a lesser known genre (here in the states at least): Trance, particularly of the vocal variety. I found my favorite trance CD. Actually 2, it's a double CD set. Please, do yourself a favor and check out Revolution by DJ Tiesto, the two CD's are called Brightside and Darkside, and rightfully so... If you actually check it out, post and let me know what you think.
John Cena - You Cant see me!

White rap from the wrestling world...
The sad thing is that I will buy that. I buy almost every wrestling CD that is released.
Well, yeah... has there been a single band who has released a debut CD in the last 5 years that rules? I'm sure there are but I can't think of any...

Velvet Revolver, The Darkness, and Franz Ferdinand come to mind.
I can't speak to the Franz Ferdinand but the other 2 CDs are average at best - plus Velvet Revolver is made up of people who were in much bigger (and better) bands in the 80s and 90s...

For your consideration: The New Pornographers, Deltron 3030, Cannibal Ox, El-P, The Distillers, Brother Ali, M83, TV on the Radio, Kanye West, Dizzee Rascal, The Walkmen, Iron & Wine, Madvillain, Franz Ferdinand, Gorillaz, Blackalicious, Bubba Sparxxx, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol

Those are some pretty good ones - especially Interpol, The Walkmen, Deltron 3030 and Madvillian....

Aw damn, I typed out a big ol' Weezer review only to have it wiped away because CAG thought I wasn't logged in.

I do not feel like typing it again, but my review was essentially saying:

The new Weezer album raped my mother

On another note, I am enjoying the new Bruce Springsteen, NIN - With Teeth had a couple enjoyable tracks on my first listen through, and the new Eels sounds to have a lot of potential.

I'm finding as an old fart that I simply dont bother with the radio anymore...music is irrelevant to me now....I'd love to find some new material by some new bands, but that last CD I bought that I actually enjoyed was THE PUPPET MASTEr by King Diamond, and he's an old fart too (and a pretty niche artist I might add).

Beck, all those alterna-bands....never liked the music...Dave Matthews..? Pass..... Its sad really, I wished I could wade through the endless sea of music that washes over all of us now thanks to the net, but to me its really starting to sound all the same.

I Loathe Hip Hop....I miss the old B-Boy breakin/rappin days of the 80's when Rap was Rap, but todays Hip Hop culture leaves me cold, as does the music.

Enjoy the music while you can, there may come a day when you say "god this stuff sucks" and you find you can't go home again!

Wait.... so what Scorch is saying is...

Weezer, the band that influenced and spawned hundreds of emo groups is umm... too emo? This album is far more refined and polished then their last record (Maladroit) and Rivers' voice sounds better than it has in years. Without a doubt, worth buying the CD.

By them raping your mother are you saying you liked it or disliked it?
You're insane, those two words should never be in the same sentence.
Well what if someone said, "Weezer does not suck"? ;)

I just downloaded "Cigaro" from the new System of a Down CD.

The very first line is: "My cock is much bigger than yours"

and the chorus is: "Yooouuuurrr in dennnniiiiiallll"

and then it goes on to: "Can't you see that I love my cock"
"Can't you see that you love my cock"
" Can't you see that we love my cock"- while the singer is throwing his voice every other word.

It's fucking hilarious!

And it's sad that they can make songs like that and somewhere, someone will think it's great. OMG A PENIS JOKE HAHAHAHFIUWEQHLFIU!#$PFUB#R:W; GFV

god i wish SOAD never existed. Them and Slipknot. Banging on a bunch of crap and screaming incoherently earned them millions.. what'd it earn me when I was a kid? A timeout.

I didn't say that I liked the song, I said it was funny. The only song I like on the whole damn CD is BYOB.

And I HATE Slipknot.

Please tell me you threw Bubba Sparxxx in their as a joke. You had a decent list and then BAM....Fat pseudo-rural rapper marketing tool....

Also Atmosphere's debut album came out in the last five years I believe.

How is Deltron 3030. I have only heard about his acclaim.....
Common Sense - BE - Album of the year.
I can't wait for that one! It's been a long time coming....
By them raping your mother are you saying you liked it or disliked it?
Would you like it if something raped your mother?

Basically, Weezer sucked all the fun out of this album. No longer are there fun pop songs (and if they are supposed to be like I assume Beverily Hills is), then they just plain stink....lyrically and musically. I hoped Beverily Hills was going to be the low point of this album, but I found one much worse. "We Are All On Drugs" is just plain awful.
Blue and Pinkerton were such phenomenal albums, while Green and Maladroit were not nearly as good but contained a few enjoyable tracks surrounded by others that were mediocre, but not terrible. This one just instantly upset me.
Granted, I do plan on giving it at least a couple extra listens through, as these impressions are based off of just one listen through. The problem is, I am just not looking forward to it.
I have a feeling it will be a lot like when Metallica's St. Anger came out. I'll attempt time and time again to give it another try, since the band has too much talent to NOT have at least something worthwhile in the album, but I'll never make it past the first few tracks without turning it off in disgust, and attempt to forget all about it.

I like the blue album and Pinkerton a lot too but I actually really enjoyed Make Believe. In fact, I could make the argument that there aren't any really weak tracks on the album, and the 2 that arent as great are still pretty good (hold me, freak me out).
Funeral for a Friend - Hours
Thanks for the heads up on FFAF, I had no idea they were working on a new album, let alone releasing one anytime soon. I just hope they don't have a long wait inbetween the UK and US releases like they did with Casually Dressed.

Anyhow, thanks for the info, I guess I'll have to keep up with some more bands to see if and when they're releasing a new album.

yeah, this was news to me too. I can't wait for it though because their debut is unbelievable... hey I just answered my own question from above!

weezer? yuck....I liked them better when they were called "Pavement" :p

If any of you listen to Stereolab, they just came out with a 3 cd and 1 dvd collection of EPs...only $20 too!
weezer? yuck....I liked them better when they were called "Pavement" :p
Pavement was awesome but they really sound nothing like Weezer... or anyone else for that matter... IMO.

Last i heard tool, maynard said this i think wants the next album to be a sort of soundtrack to a dvd, much like pink floyd and the wall, but that was a while ago so who the heck knows

The peeps talking about the Alk3 album should stay away if they didn't like the last two, it's similar to those. I love every album of theirs, so I enjoy it, but it's not their best.

The ones I'm looking forward to the most:

5/3:
Still Remains - Of Love and Lunacy

5/10:
Weezer - Make Believe

5/17:
The Sound of Urchin - The Diamond
System of A Down - Mesmerize

5/24:
At the Drive In - Anthology
Alkaline Trio - Crimson
Audioslave - Out of Exile

6/7
Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This to Memory
Well, yeah... has there been a single band who has released a debut CD in the last 5 years that rules? I'm sure there are but I can't think of any...
Arcade Fire - Funeral - Simply awesome debut album.

I am looking forward to the new Spoon, Foo Fighters, the White Stripes, and Sleater Kinney CD's.

I recently bought Beck's new album, and think its "OK." I have really only listened to it a couple of times
6/7
Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil
I had no idea A7X would be releasing their album so early in the summer; it's been on their front page for nearly a month and I hadn't even caught wind of it until now.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be picking this up as well as Funeral for a Friend's "Hours" the following week.

i just recieved the gorillaz cd ... and its pretty good... a build upon the first one.... but no tracks like left hand suzuki method... and the hip-hop blended songs are a bunch of other rap guys rather then del the funky homosapien. Still enjoyable like the first.

(my friend got it early .. he works for a record label.. and got some samples and stuff)

dude that is messed up, shit like that keeps prices so high for cds and the only people that it effects are people like me who actually pay those prices. I dont care if its expensive, its still stealing, would u go into a store and just steal the cd, no you wouldnt, but for some reason its okay if its online. you need to not make any posts like this anymore, people like you dont belong in this online community.

stealing ??? my friend gets all sorts of dvds and cds through promos and what not.. mosty are supposed to be given away.

what are you smoking ?

the promos are for people like him in the business, not for simple folk like you. Infact I bet legally he is not supposed to be giving it to you. So there are two illegal acts going on. I am sure he can get into a lot of trouble where he works. So just because its no pirating its still illegal. If he was a promo guy I could see its okay, but hes not. What am I smoking, not what u are smoking there blunt knight. You need to stop worry about what I am smoking and what you allowin someone inject in your arm.

promos are given to the radio stations and labels to get input/attention...from listeners.. thats why they are called promos. Your acting like this guy stole the crap and gave it to me... he gets it free to distribute.... and is allowed to share it with whomever. If he sold it.. or i sold it or copied it and then started to distrubute it.... then you can say its illegal.

now your story is catching up on you. Originally you say "he works for a record label.. and got some samples and stuff" well samples and stuff are not promos to distribute, they are samples for label people to listen to. Next you say "my friend gets all sorts of dvds and cds through promos and what not" well make up your mind, is he get samples or promos. Promos are for ad reps and what not, not for people who work there. You need to get your facts straight before you try to make up shit and posting on this board.

first off all.. i have no idea why your sweating this. I didn't think i need to explain myself.. because i didn't think i would get an attack for saying my peace on a CD. Anyways samples and stuff could very well mean promos. Since promos would fall under the stuff catagory right ?

and promos are legally allowed to be given away, otherwise my friend would lose his job.

what is a promo?

This is a record that has not been officially released by a record label. It is commonly a white label and is generally given to well known DJs to play before the tune is released in order to generate excitement about the release and a demand for the tune. The industry depends on these for the promotion of new music.

So the next thing your gonna say.. is your not a DJ.. well i see your from pittsburgh.. well you might have heard of mind boxing alliance...talk to thier DJ... if you have anymore gripes. Promo... helps the artist in the end dude.
Just say you downloaded it. Its been on the net for like a month.
well ya.. if i downloaded it.. then he has a case... but he is saying that radio or record label promos are illegeal to have and damaging to an artist.

Hey if your buddy was a dj and gave you a promo that is understandable, but and this is a big but, a sample given to you at work is something totally different. If your worked at microsoft and someone gave u a sample game to u an employee and u ended up giving it away, you are going against the wishes of the people who gave it you as a sample. Samples are not for redistribution, a promo you can do anything with. That is the big difference between samples and promos, maybe if you knew what you were talking about then you could get your story straight

Maybe not as huge as most of the albums you guys are talking about, but to all the metalheads Arch Enemy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile, Meshuggah, Demons & Wizards, Sentenced, and Nevermore got new albums soon, and let's not forget new Opeth this fall!

ok .... where did i ever say i got a sample ???? go back and find that for me. I may have used the word.. but find it where i specifically call it sample (not that it matters since i didn't intend to type my post to be scanned and interrogated).

I recieved a promo...so get off my nutz... you don't like it ??? call the RIAA
