The Next Store to go under is..... BORDERS?!?!?!?

Borders gets another year for their loan, looks like they've got a little extra time now.
Nice! this reminds me I should get my year's GC from Border's for next month when I'll be somewhat close to stop by and spend it.

wonder if there are any coupons I could use....

No way Borders is coming back from this one. I used to be an Ops Manager for Borders a couple of years ago and even then they were in the mire. Always late paying vendor POs, being really cheeky about returns, trimming staff, things like that. After I left, they removed all the back office computers save one in order to reduce IT costs and increase productivity. Their survival hopes were hedged on greater staff accountability and without proper support for performance improvement, that wasn't ever going to happen.

I still have a lot of affection for Borders, but trust me when I tell you that the upper management ran that company and its staff into the ground.
It's a shame, I figured the next store to go under would be Radioshack...
Doubtful. Radioshack has far too many locations in areas where there is next to no competition for electronics. In those areas they tend to do very well in sales.

I'm not really surprised, a borders in my town went out of business a couple of months ago. That's sad though, B&N will be the next Worst Buy

besides, where are the nerds who build robots going to get spare parts?!?!?!?

I too wonder how the hell RadioShack manages to stay open... I guess they sorta have the brand recognition for electronics (kinda like Kleenex for tissues).

See above. RadioShack is basically the only place where one can buy small electronic components anymore.
I certainly can't think of any other store where I can buy a capacitor.
I find the staff very helpful and polite. One of the few stores that you see employees actually doing work.
Huge YMMV.

We have 4 radio shacks in about a 20 mile radius. Two of them are absolutely terrible. One is so so. The other is great.
