Forgot to share the story of my run-in with the 5-0 earlier.
Well, my car tags expired on the first, and I forgot to renew them because I was so focused on getting stuff ready for my surgery (work-related, baby-sitters, etc.) and I didn't realize it until it was too late. No problem, I thought, I'll just lay low until Tuesday (fricking cops everywhere looking for drunk drivers on the holiday weekend).
Well, I went to CC to get a couple GC games for Juggers and I stopped at a gas station for ice cream, soda and smokes on the way home. I pulled up to a spot that was right in front of a light post (that is important later) and started to get out of my car when I see a cop is parked behind me, blocking me, with his lights going. (I have no idea where he came from, but he wasn't behind me when I parked.)
Now, I'm worried about my tags, so I mumble out a weak, "Geez Officer, you scared the hell outta me. Something wrong?" He asks for license, tags, etc and he tells me that he pulled me over because of the crack in my windshield on the passenger side (

ing I-75). I explained that I got nailed with a rock on the freeway, and I haven't had the time to get it fixed. He asks why I can't talk, so I told him about the surgery and then asks me if I have ever been arrested. I laughed and told him no, and he walked away.
At this point, an older couple pull up next to him and start talking to him while he was in his car. He comes back a minute later and hands me by license and tells me to have a good day - never mentioned my tags!
So I go in the store, buy my stuff, and when I come out, he is still parked behind me, but thankfully talking to the couple. Unfortunately, he's still blocking me in, and the longer he is behind me, the better the chance of him noticing my tag - and I can't pull forward because of the light post.
I wasn't sure if I should say something or not, so I get in my car and wait. Finally, after a couple of mins, he pulled ahead, so I was able to back up and get the hell out of there.
For several minutes there, I was sure I was going to get a ticket (Not to say I didn't deserve it) - which I would have found oddly amusing since I have known people that have driven
years on expired plates and tags, and I would get caught after 3 days...
