The Office - Season 3 - Discussion [possible spoilers]

Did anyone catch Pam's little mocking of Michael when he sighed at the beginning? Its the subtle little moments in this show that makes me laugh the most.

Yeah, they never went anywhere with that. It was hilarious, as I completely forgot she was in there ("Is that you, D?" LOL), but we never saw Jim using that information or Dwight showing up or anything, really. Guess Jim will bring it up later on.

Jim and Pam being separated seems so arbitrary now. You'd think the moment Pam dropped Roy she'd be on the phone to Jim. This self-imposed exile is silly. Interesting that Jim layed it all on the line with Michael, especially given the way Michael misused the information from the booze cruise.

I think the point was that Jim had no one to tell anymore... that type of stuff he usually went to Pam about, and now, well, he can't. Yea, that info will probably come back at a later date.

Pam probably didn't call Jim because she probably thinks Jim has moved on with his life., and Jim was thinking that Pam was getting married until the conference.

The character development in the show is still astounding.

I think this time Jim was expecting that he would tell Pam, since he doesn't want to try it again since he already got denied twice and doesn't want to lay it on the line with her. However, by telling Michael, he assumes Pam will find out, and figures if she truly cares about him, that she'll get in touch with him to try and fix things between them.

This show is so life-like in that things aren't so spelled out for the audience, and that they heavily include body language, gestures, misspoken words, stutters, and so many other visual components and such to make everything more true to life. That's one of the things I love about this show. Example: When Jan said to Michael: "I can't stay on top of you 24/7." Michael looks to camera and gives this wink and smile thing and we, the audience, know he's just longing to say... "That's what she said!"
 
What's the deal with the search being useless lately? Had to look for javery's posts.

I wish I could play Call of Duty 2 with my co-workers during work. :D

I thought the best line of the show was when Michael was looking in Dwight's mouth.

Michael: You should really floss
Dwight: I know

:lol: I don't know why I thought that was so funny.
 
Loved the episode, especially the fact that they used a real game and didn't make up one that looked painfully fake like they do too often in TV shows and movies.
Plus, the little grenade throw that Jim did at the end was great.

they both got pretty pissed at the end, but since Dwight is back to his low self, I thinka ll will be okay... I'm still waiting on an episode primarily about Kevin. So far the closest one was the hockey game one where he thought he might have cancer.
 
The whole Call of Duty thing was brilliant. Was anyone else embarassed when the two co-workers were having a conference and started throwing out terms like "MP40, MP44" and "Carentan" and you actually knew what they were talking about? ....I was loling.

This season is really starting off great; the last 3 episodes were hilarious. A few of my work friends and I meet up every Thursday to watch the show together now, which makes it even funnier.

Alright, unofficial poll: Pam or Karen (girl in Jim's office)?

I like Pam better, but I'm not sure if it's just because her character is more developed and we've seen more interaction between her and Jim...
 
I liked tonight's show, but it was weird to have Michael and Dwight be so unlikeable throughout the entire show, and then to have Angela be so kind. I loved the Call of Duty stuff, especially Jim getting called into the office for playing poorly.
 
BTW, it was CoD1, not 2. There's no way those office macines are beefy enough to handle 2.

Side note: We used to play Quake, Quake 3, and UT 2004 at my old job. One guy I worked with was one of the top Quake players back in the day online. He offered us a "DM6 Challenge" one day. Basically it was 1-on-1 on DM6 and if anyone could get 2 frags in before he got 80, they would win. Nobody ever won against him.

In terms of hotness it's not even close - Karen by miles. However, Pam's character has a great personality so ... um, I guess that counts for something...

Basically she's just represents anti-Pam, which is the main thing wrong with her.

Probably the best line in the show. Also enjoyed when Dwight was telling Jan about the sale on earrings and Jan, despite being incredulous, says, "Where is that?"

I dunno, though. The first episode of the season was probably the best of the series, while the last two have left me kind of lukewarm. Jim needs to get back to Scranton and it bothers me that they're going to drag out his stay in Stanford to pursue this ridiculous relationship with the chick sitting behind him, just like the British version.

Never date the woman that frags you.

Hilarious episode last night. I loved how Michael was totally fucking with Dwight before he finally confronted him about the sit-down with Jan.
 
I loved the whole exchange during CoD:

"Jim, what are you doing?"
"Killing the Germans any way I can."
"...WE ARE THE GERMANS! Shoot the British!"
".............*whisper*we're the germans?"
 
The whole Entourage reference was great too - I love how they aren't arfaid to mention other shows on other networks in a pop culture sort of way. It adds a level of believability to the show. Last week Pam had "Big Brother: 8 - 9" written on a post it in her cube.

LOL, yeah. I loved Michael's thing about LHiOB not translating to women. That was quality. And it definitely adds a level of believability to the show.

I know we can't possibly keep the two office thing going all season, but I have to say I don't want Jim's new office to leave. I absolutely LOVE Ed Helms and Chip Esten over there. Hopefully they can find a way to keep those two around.

well if its like the british office, eventually the two offices merge into one. so i see that happening later in the season, after jim starts dating the new girl.

Tonight's episode was easily my favorite of the new season.

Everything, from the beginning to Dwight stomping the tiny box, was absolute genius.

I wish I was as smooth as Jim is.
 
That was definitely an awesome episode. I loved Pam's story being Million Dollar Baby and then Ryan using The Lion King. I was laughing my ass off at that one. Plus I loved Jim at the other office and Ed Helm's reply "Did ya...Look in your butt?"

I didn't catch the Million Dollar Baby one actually, never saw that movie, too many people ruined it, plus I had no interest in it to begin with. :roll:
 
Managed to catch the ep without having to record it. Anyways the part that made me shit myself was when they had that group meeting and pam ditched and then came back. The look on her face when they said they had waited for her was priceless.

I like that they develop this thing with both Pam & Jim in their attitudes towards Michael. They both think he's nuts, but at the same time you can tell they feel sorry for him - so they do things like Pam did tonight w/ the bird funeral.
 
2nd best ep of the season after the opener. Really good stuff.

Favorite line: "*cough*SUCKUP! Did you hear that Chip???"

And it's amazing to me how the show can be so cruely funny and so slyly sweet at the same time. Pam's sensitivity to Michael's feelings about death (specifically, dying alone) and her putting together the funeral were genuinely touching. Steve Carrell is a master.

It reminds me of early Simpsons episodes. They were funny, but they had heart too. All-in-all, it's just good TV.

Also, the deleted scenes are some good stuff. Creed really shines in them.
 
I didn't think that highly of last nights episode. I just didn't find it as funny as the others this season. It did have its moments, but it didn't have me laughing the whole show like some of the others have.
 
Awesome show, loved how Pam referenced "Million Dollar Baby" everyone just had that look, like "ooh me next" and the refernce from Ryan to "The Lion King"...His uncle Mufasa :rofl:
