The Office - Season 3 - Discussion [possible spoilers]

I'm thinking this was the best episode of the season so far. It had so many funny moments I can't choose just one that I like the best. It seemed like every character had a great little moment in the spotlight, which is one of the reasons I hope we get more extended episodes this season.

Yea, really great episode. The scene where Pam saw the new girl scratching Jim's back was rough though. She really made you feel the way she was feeling, like the pit of your stomach sinking when you see something like that. Great job, Jenna Fischer!

"Set it up like you are trying to impress a man who is out of your league."

"Dwight won the battle. But I will win a much bigger....battle."

What a great episode :) God, all the Dwight/Andy stuff... priceless.
quote of the day was from Andy, the new employee Dwight hates: "I'm one step ahead of everyone.... like a carpenter... who builds stairs..."
Definitely my favorite line of tonight's episode.

fucking hilarious episode. I nearly fell off the damn couch.

"I don't know who these people think they are. I've been dealing with her perfume for two years, and I've never said a word."

My coworker and I had serious reservations about how Andy's personality was going to fit in, but they took an awesome route with it.
Karen: Who's Bob Vance?
Phyllis: You've got a lot to learn about this town.
Best line of the night--you forgot to add "sweetheart" after the quote, though. When she said "sweetheart," I lost it.

fixed!

Agreed that this was the best episode so far this year, possibly tied with the opener (I still don't think I'll ever laugh as hard as I did at the kiss scene). All the new people are great. I was actually sad Anthony (Fat Tony?) is leaving, as he could have been a great character. But I guess they have enough characters to juggle now as it is. Scranton is packed!

Jim/Janet/Pam love triangle shaping up nicely. Feel really bad for Pam, but she had her chance and blew it. I'm sure she'll get another shot and we'll see what happens.

I may be in the minority, but the Andy-Dwight thing is already annoying me. It's mildly amusing, but not laugh out loud funny the way Jim's pranks on Dwight are (were?).

Favorite moments:

- Washington Mutual guy giving the "my brother" chest pump to Stanley and Stanley just rolling his eyes.

- "It can shred credit cards.............................Oh."

- Michael: "How do you have a picture of her left breast?" Creed: "Right place at the right time."

Also, anybody else (besides Creed) think breast-feeding lady is hot?

Did anyone else get the impression that the credits at the end where Ed Helms character was singing "Rainbow Connection" wasnt completely planned (it was hilarious by the way)

you mean "ainbow-ray ahnection-kay"?

Jim's smile was so sincere, like he was really laughing.

i'm really starting to love this season, bringing back the genuine awkward feelings i had watching the first season for the first time.

Yeah, last two shows have been great, though it's pissing me off how they're eliminating one Stanford person per episode. Martin was a character with potential. It's like Ten Little Indians. Seems kind of silly to merge the offices and then just get rid of everybody from the second office. Honestly, the way some of the Scranton people have been treated, I'd expect them to leave before the new folks. Or maybe they're just used to it.
I loved the beginning when Michael talked for the baby!! Classic!
It actually took me a second to get what he was doing. Then I laughed, during the commercial break.

There was a surprising lack of Dwight in the last episode.

We should get used to characters hardly appearing in certain episodes this year. They barely had time to get all the old characters in the episodes during season 2, and with all these new characters it's just going to get worse. That's what happens when you have a large ensemble cast.

True, but it helps when they have scenes where they bring everyone together for meetings or whatnot.
I say the breast feeding lady will quit if they don't do an episode on her... so far she dosn't seem too important other than the baby.
Can't see what else they could do to her to make her quit that they haven't done already. Creed already has her left tit as his wallpaper. And as "the one with the baby," she promises lots of potential for future plotlines. She is the catalyst for all the parent-in-the-workplace issues that offices have to deal with. It's been obvious for some time that most episodes center around one office cliche (the Christmas party, the trade show, sensitivity training, and so on). Think of the episodes:

The Breast Pump Room
Flex Time
Sick Baby

And so on. If they wanted to limit her appearances, they could have her work from home sometimes. ;)

Also, there are people from the original cast that STILL have not gotten an episode based around them. The older redhead lady that frowns all the time comes to mind. Stanley has not had an episode where he is the focus. Nor has Creed. Nor have several other people.

True. good points.

I'm hoping for another Kevin episode with more emphasis on him... or a creed.

When she took off her top in Michael's office I think that spoke volumes more than a 22 minute episode ever could. So funny.

Stanley had pretzel day.

She spent the entire episode trying to figure out who she had agreed with a long time ago to have sex on her last day at Dunder-Mifflin.

I'm ready for breast-feeding lady to go. I don't like her.

I don't see her lasting very long. And as much as I don't like Jim's new woman, they either need to give her some direction or get rid of her and let him get back with Pam, she's basically just existed since she was introduced.

Unless her character really takes off I see her quitting Dunder-Mifflin when Jim inevitibly dumps her for Pam.
^I hope we get to see Kevin get married.
I highly think it will happen since little hints of the marriage keep popping up so often. I'm just surprised someone is marrying the guy :)

Anyone watch the deleted scenes from last week's episodes. They have a pretty good one with Dwight and Andy arguing, makes up for the lack of Dwight on that episode.

The real question is will he play a gig at his own wedding? ;)

I forgot that Stanley had pretzel day, and I guess that counts, though that was arguably as much about Michael as it was about Stanley.

I like how they did an hour episode of Earl tonight and are going to do an hour of the office next week. It looks like it is going to be a good episode.
So is the episode next week a single hour long episode or two half hour episodes?
If it is like Earl than it will be one hour long episode.

Even though I laugh more at the Office, I think Earl is a better show so I didn't mind them doing an hour long episode. It was nice to finally see the craziness of Catalina's village.

I think Earl was a two part episode edited together as one hour long episode, since my TV Guide said it was part 1 and 2.

I really enjoyed the Christmas episode. It had some really funny moments, like Creed stealing a toy, the CIA thing, and the party signs.
Anyone know who Michael was talking to on the phone at the end of the episode?

I think its the sitcom version of a cliffhanger. My money's on it being Jan.
I bet you guys are right. I didn't even think of Jan for some reason.
I think the biggest evidence for it not being Jan though is that they didn't say who it was. If it was Jan for sure, you'd think they'd just say so somehow. I guess we'll find out in a month or so.
