Wow...this game is just amazing! It reminds me of the Lilo & Stitch movie crossed with the Sega Genesis game Gunstar Heroes. It's everything I loved about old-school gaming as a kid. It's tough as nails, funny as heck, and non-stop action.

The art design is just incredible, and really makes me sad that developers just threw 2D games out the window so many years ago. I can only imagine what kind of 2D mayhem we could've seen had it continued to grow with newer hardware.

I really can't say enough about this game.

Great freakin game. I love the hats!
You have no clue how hard I laughed when I actually saw "PWNED" flash on the screen...

Just starting to get the hats unlocked...of course, gotta love the backward baseball cap!

Have you played Lilo and Stitch on GBA? Pretty damn fun even though the Lilo levels slow it down a bit. I think the second game doesn't have her levels, so its probably better.

And yes, Alien Hominid is sweet. I have yet to get my own copy though.

No, I haven't played the Lilo & Stitch game yet, but I heard it was really good...a change for Disney games.

Need I remind you of the Alladin games? They might not have stood the test of time, but I thought they were awesome when I was a kid.

Okay, true...but as a general rule of thumb, if it had the Disney imprint on it, it's usually not been A-class gaming.

Alladin, Lion King, the Genesis/Snes Mickey games, and years later, the Stitch games for GBA. Sadly, the PS2 one wasnt too good... but Hominid made up for that :)

I'm thinking about getting this game. But, like all other games, it's on hold until I can beat the ones I have right now. :(

This game just looks amazing. I haven't played it yet, but my kids have been playing the GameCube version all weekend and loving it. They say its a cross between Viewtiful Joe and Metal Slug. It has the graphics of VJ and the action of MS. And the mini-games they have unlocked are also hilarious. The average score on Game Rankings for the GCN version is 79%, although I would score it much higher. This game is a must-own for any fans of the shooter genre.

Kingdom Hearts sucks, and Alien Hominid once again proves the 2D is awesome and 3d can suck it. Suck it down.

Play Alien Hominid, and you will understand the exception to the rule.

I liked the 1 player mode... it's decent... but the 2 player mode seems too cluttered and colorful. This game is very quirky and often times it's just funny. I'm Russian and the level with the hammer and sickle boss had me rolling on the floor. Anyway, it's definately good... not worth the $30 I don't think. I wouldn't say it's better than Metal Slug though.

Already done. :D

I think we better watch out... those aliens work in twos... next thing we know there could be another alien with a skunk spot, and WShakespear will be gone!

Yeah, this game is great. I played the original Newgrounds one waaaay back in the day. If you've never been to Newgrounds.com, I definately suggest checking it out. Some good game parodies, Retarded Animal Babies, and it's where the Star Wars Gangsta Rap all began.

But the thing I like the most about this game is the whole Indie effort thing. In an industry saturated with entities such as EA, something like this can be made. Although it will never sell like a Madden game or something, I consider it a great accomplishment.

Is Alien Hominid already becoming one of those games that's impossible to find? I went looking for it a week ago at Best Buy, and not only did they not have any copies of it- they looked at me like I had two heads when I asked them about it. It wasn't even in their computers. I also came up empty at Wal-Mart and CC.

I was hoping it would drop to $20 or even lower when it got completely ignored in the rush of holiday games (sort of like BG&E last year) but now I'm wondering if it will become something you see on ebay selling for $100 or more.

Toys R Us should carry it, as well as EBGames. You can also order it directly from the guys who created it:

Yeah, I'll have to get out and check those stores for it. I've become such a cheapass thanks to this site that even when a game comes out at $30, I think to myself "Eh, maybe when it gets to $15 or $20", but maybe for this one I should just break down and pay the full price. Every review I've read for it has made me want it more, and now that it's even gotten it's own "Official" thread from WSB, well, what else needs to be said?

Is the gamecube one rare? I see the PS2 copy all the time but my stores have been out of the GC copy since early after its release.

I think what endeared me to it the most is all of the hand-drawn artwork. A lot of things in it remind me of doodles I've done or silly things I've jotted down. Also, the eerie similarities to Gunstar Heroes won me over in the gamplay department.

I think its getting harder to find, for sure...But GET IT...I haven't felt so satisfied playing a game in a long time...other than maybe PoP: Warrior Within ;)

Not only the artwork though, but also the humor involved. It's rare in any 2d shooter like this where you get your ass kicked by a boss; and instead of cussing and throwing your controller, you can't help but laughing.

I believe that the Gamecube version is a little harder to find. My guess is that more were printed for PS2 due to more people owning that particular system. I saw the PS2 version 3 times before I came across my Gamecube version, and haven't seen another Gamecube version since around here

I was going to get the Gamecube version, but this ran through my head "Wait! Get the PS2 one cause then when PS3 comes out, you can still play it!"...thats the first time that stupid shit has came into play with me....

I haven't seen the game in motion, but I love the look of it as well just from what I've seen in the screenshots. And any game that mixes a unique art style, fast action, and lots of humor is a slam dunk in my book.

When you see the Fat Kids (with forks on their t-shirts) jumping rope, you'll have no doubt about the game in motion!

I paid $29.99 for this game in December at EB for my kids Christmas. I also have not seen the GC version since. I've seen the PS2 version occasionally, but also not everywhere. I think this game, for both platforms, was a limited run. I would recommend you pick it up when you see it to be sure you get a copy. The game really is unique and very well done.

As for multiplayer, my kids are tearing it up and having a blast with it. For as much mayhem that is going on in the game, you'd think there would be some slowdown. Not a frame lost. Great game. They also love the mini-games that are unlocked as you complete levels. Get this game.

Actually, no - I was just finishing it up when you posted that. ;)
I heard there is a Xbox verison coming out soon....is that true?
Sometime in May for Europe, apparently. No word on a North American Xbox release.
So which version plays better, I want this game, but I don't know if I should get the PS2 or GC version.
I dunno...I guess it depends on which controller you prefer. I can't imagine the game running any differently, as it's not pushing rendered polygons.

Just want you to know Banky, reading this thread and hearing things about "PWNED" flashing on the screen and a "hammer and sickle boss" has pushed me over the fence on this game. I'm going to pick it up from Toys R Us tomorrow.
