Inspired to do this by a large lot of promotional stuff I got at my EB yesterday. They know me, and it isn't rare for them to give me stuff, but this was quite awesome (keep in mind, this is all free, and all I ever do is ask):

1 Activision t-shirt.
1 Spartan: Total Warrior t-shirt.
1 Soul Calibur III t-shirt.
1 Quake 4 t-shirt (boxed).

2 DDR soundtrack CDs.
1 Official Trilogy Soundrack CD for Prince of Persia.
1 True Crime: New York DVD
1 Demo disc

1 amazing, almost book-bag quality King Kong bag, complete with King Kong t-shirt, awesome King Kong pen, and incredible King Kong 32 oz water bottle.

The Gamestop near Briarwood mall in Ann Arbor, MI has a bin of swag by the door. Nothing as great as the OP described, but I did get an X-Men Legends II poster, a Call of Duty comic book, and an Age of Empires II calendar and passed on a lot of stuff for games I wasn't interested in. I probably go there about once every month or two, and they seem to always have a fresh stock of free stuff. Worth a look.

Man, you guys are lucky. My game stores suck. They never have anything free and the employees are jerks. :(

I was at a Gamecrazy recently where the employee kicked ass! Real nice and knowledgeable. My friend asked about preorder stuff, and boom, the guy brings out 2 boxes full of em! I got a Donkey Kong banana belt and a Shadow the Hedgehog beanie. My most prized swags are my Metroid Zero standee, FF4 GBA big display box, and my Breakdown Te'lan standee.

I work at gamecrazy and we have tons of stuff. We save it for people to sign up for either a MVP card or a preorder. many stores need people to buy these "savings card" deals. You should always ask for stuff if you sign up for one.

Tons of stuff.. standees, the Half-Life 2 polo shirt, tons of preorder bonuses.. Metroid Prime 2 shirt, Soul Calibur 3 shirt.. so much more.

Thats really cool! I haven't been to that one, I never knew there was one around that area. Where is it?

Aye aye cap'n. The stores near me blow hard.

At the ebgames I'm working at for the season, the managers keep all the swag for themselves, the other employees, and their friends. This includes other people's preorder bonuses(they get the stuff in and never call up the preorder customers, then only give it out if the person shows up in person and demands it).

The other stores near me are pretty much the same with my local GameStop being the only exception. Dudes there are at least chill enough to let me hang out and save me a sealed copy of a game if I tell them in advance. Give me my preorder itmes, too. The store I'm working at guts everything and throws it out on the floor for sale.

I work at a gamestop and they throw away alot of stuff and I just take it.

-2 PSP lanyards
-bunch of display/box art cases
-7 Half-Life 2 posters (Large)

-Unreal Championship 2 The Liandri Conflict cardboard stand up
