The official I HATE EB GAMES thread

it is shamful for them that so many out there actually hate them~ yea, i got the same problems for fake new but used games, bad prices, and bad customer supports~ services quaility is one of the major aspect that an online store should be doing good at...too bad they don't, and they are actually cheating on their customers, guess just don't buy from them anymore and you won't get further problems

I really hate eb now. I figured I would start a topic on our hatred for this store. If you have had problems with them list them here. First their prices suck, second their trade in values suck, third it sucks that when you buy new you get opened and beat up games, forth they charge you shiping when you ordered wtih free shipping, sixth it sucks for sales tax, seventh they are pricks, eight They act like there are no other game stores in the world, nine they don't price match their own website, ten their pricks.

Anyone else have simmialr problems?
Your arguement is pointless and you'll see why here.

1.First their prices suck (a $5 dollar give or take is standard here. This arguement is pointless)
2.Trade in Values suck (When you buy a game for $50, you should plan on getting you $50 bucks worth...They trade standard pawn shop rules...they pay 45% of what they would sell it for)
3.when you buy new you get opened and beat up games (That does suck, of course you can at least take a new game back [for 14 days I think, 30 if it was from online], gamestop wont let you at all.)
4.they charge you shiping when you ordered wtih free shipping (well that sucks, but thats what customer service is for, every call I've made I got things fixed in 5 mins. Just remember you can catch more flies with sugar)
5.(You skipped 5)
6.sucks for sales tax (Yea, govt law sucks dont it...)
7. they are pricks (Try not being an ass when something goes wrong...I cant tell since you wrote "They are pricks" twice, you may not be the most mature in the bunch. Have you ever had a problem, and they fixed it and you sent a thank you letter? I sure you havent, but I'm sure you've ran in a B&M store bitching about online sales...just remember, they're two completely different operations)
8.They act like there are no other game stores in the world (I dont even get how you thought this...did they tell you that as a whole)
9.don't price match their own website (80% of all companies wont do that...victoria's secret for example is owned by a different company online...so you never see the same stuff online and in a B&M. It's hard to mix B&M and online sales...plus think about this...a B&M has to pay rent, electric, pay it's employees, deal with trades, deal with building code....Online only has to pay the phone techs...so you should see why they wouldnt price match with an easy to operate online store. Try to find a bookstore cheaper than Amazon.)
10. their pricks (It's "They're Pricks" - and since you typed this one twice and left out a fifth reason...you are officially an idiot.
No see they're pricks counts as two! Anyways I have called customer care 3 time on my last three orders and still have the same problem. I have talked with managers and all and still no results. And no I have not jumped on their deals. I was very nice to them. I sent in email after the third time. They sent a smart assed email back. I then sent them another email stating they were smartasses then they sent an even more smart assed email back. If they don't want my bussiness then fine. No they have not sent a thank you or even a sorry at that. They sent A ha ha ha you suck leter. I don't think one prick will ruin a companies name for me, however, three low level pricks and a manager prick will.

I've had several problems with EB, but also found alot of great deals from them. So I hate em, but I accept them. I wish they'd leave me alone when I walked in.

My biggest gripe is their attitude. For example I recnetly went to one and they instantly try to have me reserve Halo 2. I told them I'm not intrested. They persisted in saying, "It's going to be the game of the year, you have to get it."

First I don't have an X-Box (and I probably never will) second I never really liked first person shooters (except Makken X) so I told them that. They asked me what games I do like, thinking my taste in games was strange.

I said I like Fighters and RPG. They asked me which ones. I told them my favorite fighting game was KOF and favorite RPG was Suikoden.

Now I'm used to people dissing my favorite games, because they're not the best graphics-wise and they don't have the words "Grand Theft," Racing," or "Fantasy" but I like them and that's all that matters. They told me KOF looked like an old SNES game and Suikoden does also.

I didn't feel like argueing with them so I said "Can you leave me alone, and can I look around?" They walked away and I found a Return Fire for PSX, (Big Box) for $2.99. I was happy and I bought it.

So I hate em' but sometimes you find pretty good deals on games.

I don't like EBGames much either because of the problems mentioned. Now I refuse to buy a game for more than $9.99 in store. If they are the cheapest on a game like when they had those $3 and $5 games a few months ago in store, I'll buy it from them but if I want a new release game, I would never buy it from them. I would rather buy it at a store like Target.

I would agree with you Rodimus Donut most of the time. But not after this latest event from them. Yes you can some times get a good deal. I was actually talking bout the prices in general. Most of the time they are overpriced for the quality that they provide. I get better "new" games off of ebay. These games are opened and played but look better then eb's "new" gauanted to work pieces of crap that actually aren't tried to see if they work.

That's true, you can probably buy it off eBay for the same price, actually cheaper. I saw a Suikoden 2 (disk only) at an EB for $69.99. I already own it but is it worth it?

This is why I'm glad I live in a small town about an hour away from EB or Gamestop. Instead I've got a pretty good local dealer that will give me $20 for a used game that he will resell for $30. His used new release games sell for $30 or $40, and he' s real picky about the quality of used games that he buys. Downside is his selection can suck at times, and it takes him forever to drop the price of games that get universally dropped. Regardless, I'll buy my games from him any day.

I used to work at a store like this a several years ago. It was great cause We were located in a Mall and an EB was their with also. We'd give $20 - $25 for trade-ins for more recent games, but then sell them for $29.99 or $34.99, instead of EB with a $20 trade in and turn around and sell it for $45. Might as well buy it new I say.

We could do alot of stuff that EB couldn't. We sold everything from Atari games, Saturn, Virtual Boy, to Imports and Video Game/Anime music CDs. We were kicking EB's butt, it felt really good, and they went through 3 mangers while we were their cause they kept firing them cause they couldn't put us out of business.

But I went to collage and the store moved to Atlanta. Anyone living in Atlanta should be grateful It's a great store.

Hopefully that COLLEGE eduaction pays off and actually teaches you to spell. What was the name of the store you worked at that kicked EB's ass in a mall if it wasn't Gamestop/Babbages?

Back on topic...

I was in an EB recently and I saw a sign over the counter that said if the employees don't tell you that you can sell your games when you buy something, you get 10% off your purchase.

But at least I've had good experiences at the local EB stores around here. I've always bought used games from them, but from I've read, I'm sure I'll never buy new from them.

I was wondering why that guy always tells me I can trade in my games for new ones in the most answering machine voice ever.
