-MGS4 bosses (WTF?!?!)

-Showfloor (also, WTF?!?!)

-PlayTV (PS3 DVR)

I wonder of the DS3 will have better battery life or if the Sixaxis will be discontinued. I prefer lightness over vibration.

Why are there a bunch of toilets on the showfloor? Also, I must be loosing my gaming focus, I didn't realize Leipzig was so close (awesome that Home is coming to PSP though).

those mgs4 bosses are weeeeird!
They're really goin for the whole biotech thing there.

Don't remember much from mgs1 but I think these are all reiterations of mgs1 bosses. Or just using similar codenames. New age foxhound?

I would love play tv in the usa..but the article linked didn't mention any of that, or a price for the service. I don't know anything about the european cable market, but in the usa it is fairly competitve, and it is going to be getting a lot more competitve once verizon has cable tv access across the country with there fios service. I would imagine that the ps3 will need to partner up with someone.

That new MGS4 footage is brutally awesome. They need to stop showing shit cause I just want to have it now, bugs and all.

I like the idea of the TV hopefully it can be used for hi def?! That would be sexy.
ut we already knew that, you want to know the details! PlayTV has two high definition tuners allowing you to watch one channel while recording another all in 1080p.
I like the idea of one integrated box doing everything for me. I like the idea of accessing and programming via my PSP. I like it alright, but I worry it won't work nearly as well as they say. Oh well.

As part of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's Games Convention 2007, the company has announced a new multimedia initiative for the PlayStation 3: a TV tuner called Play TV. Attached to the PS3 via USB, the tuner can view, record and save both HD and SD signals, both of which can be accessed on your PSP via Remote Play.

So far, this remains a European-only feature, but like Microsoft's attempting to do with their Xbox Live Video Marketplace, this should appear everywhere&eventually.

I wonder if Sony was trying to pull a Nintendo, by showing off FIFA and SingStar most of the time, because they are very casual oriented (hoping to get good press from them). It's bad for gamers, but good for the casual press (Lol, I noticed the entire conference was casual). Also, everything was VERY Euro oriented (stuff people in NA wouldn't care about).

Yeah, that wasn't good at all, but oh well, I'll live.

Nah, they were in Europe (Germany), and those are big titles for them over there. I wouldn't read to mucn into it beyond them trying to please the "home crowd".

Also, I'm happy to hear the DVR is confirmed. Looks like you will need an add on like everyone suppected. I'll be looking out for more details on that myself.
So where did you see all this DualShock3 info?
Famitsu, over GT5 Prolouge. It was rumored at GAF today.
Fifa and Singstar is like all Europeans play apparently. Didn't Singstar sell like 3 billion copies in Europe?
I think so. Well, also add Pro Evolution Soccer. Also, Buzz is quite popular in Europe too, so announcing a PS3 version was huge for them.

Arg- as I expected the DVR is set for Europe only for now. Hope they expand to the US though- aint looking good with this setup but maybe they have another way of duing it here too.

"The problem with the DVR is that the U.S. doesn't have terrestrial digital television yet, so while some cities like San DIego have it not nearly support in the U.S. to make it worth the effort for Sony. When that changes, and it will, Sony will be on the ball, Harrison said."

And this is BS IMO, Analog Cutoff is February 2009 and over 80% of the US can get some kind of ATSC signal so
1) The US has a Terrestrial Digital system in place
2) Add a ATSC tuner and QAM tuner and you have near 100% of the US.

Sounds like a crappy excuse to me, at this point I would want it only if it comes with a QAM tuner. I have a DVR from DISH but I still get unencrypted digital from my cable co because I have Internet with them so this would be the perfect solution. Oh well

Doing Number 2, is what a lot of the rumors I'm seeing online of what Sony might end up doing actually.

The new PSEye games look cool.

Operation Creature Feature is a bit like Lemmings, but you use your hands to carry them through the level.

The Trials of Topoq the camera displays your image on certain ground squares which you can then reach out and lift/lower to make a ball roll around to work it towards the end of the level.

Aqua Vita is a "interactive aquarium". Can't really tell what you can do other then splash water.

Lets hope.... :D

just saw the new trailer for MGS4 at that kotaku link.
Seems it was noted that the new adversaries are all female. Which is good cuz I was lookin at screaming psycho bow near the end and just thinking hm...either that's a chick or that's Voldo in disguise. Could stand to use a bit more breasteses after being treated to all ass, all the time with Snake in his sneaking suit.

That DVR feature may be what gets me to pick up a PS3, depending on how well it is received. So far so good, though. Uh, despite it not being announced for the U.S. yet.

MGS4 trailer was rigoddamndiculous, and I don't mean that in a good way. I'm not putting too much stock into it since it's still not gameplay. Certainly nice eye-candy regardless.

Damnit. I think I may have to avoid the MGS4 news from now on. Don't want anything spoiled for me. Argh, this will be a long wait.

I have to agree. The "story" we've seen so far in the trailers has been minimal, so I can watch those and still not know much about the story. Knowing the bosses may not reveal much at all, but I'd still like to have the surprise element when I play the game.

No kidding. If you're going to complain, stay current.

well.. Lair will support the new dualshock, it could hurt sales even more. I would think a lot of people will just wait until the controller comes out to buy/play it.

As for the DVR, sounds great, except that i know the chance of it working with directv is 0.

Another eye toy game was announced.

Sony announced EyeToy Play: Astro Zoo for PS2, a new EyeToy camera game in which you try to catch animals that have escaped from a space zoo, which was damaged by a comet. The game consists of a collection of mini games, which involve physical movements of your body. EyeToy Play: Astro Zoo will be released in Europe in November 2007.

Sony wants The Agency to be free. (So do I!)

At this week's Leipzig Games Convention, the president of Sony Online Entertainment John Smedley held a talk on "Subscriptions vs Micro-transactions" in regards to MMO games. During the briefing, he indicated that Sony was looking at making their upcoming pc/ps3 spy-themed MMO a free play title, meaning there would be no subscription fee (unlike World of Warcraft). Instead, SOE would fund the title via micro-transactions and a 'velvet-rope policy' where certain area are only available if people pay for access.

Smedley acknowledged that consumers are used to the subscription based model (as is SOE, considering their long history of subscription based MMOs), but said that they "believe very strongly that this is the future of MMO gaming, but we also know that it is something that players have an issue with... There's going to be an aftermarket, and we want to control it so that players don't get duped into having something switched out from them."

So instead of paying a gold farmer or a rare-item hunter to hook you up with in-game goodies, Sony wants to have you pay them for the loot in a controlled manner so you don't have to deal with shady dealers. Also, this way you don't have to pay a subscription fee -- you just pay for what you want, in an a la carte method. An interesting idea all around, but sure to be controversial. Which would you rather do, pay 15 dollars a month in subscription fees or pay 5-20 dollars a month (depending on what you buy) in micro-transaction fees?

Gamespot has a little more details.

I'd actually prefer that method over a monthly subscription. I don't have much time to play each month, so that means I'm just wasting my money if I sub, or dealing with the hassle of subbing, canceling, and resubbing.

I can just pay as I go, and it also creates a real incentive to the company to make those Pay to Play expansions worthwhile. Something like how Guild Wars does things.

I hope The Agency is free with microtransactions. The monthly fee keeps me from playing all kinds of MMO games. I love them and play a lot of the free ones, but I can't justify the monthly fee. The agency doesn't look that appealing, but I'm willing to at least check it out if it is without a monthly fee.
