The Official Nintendogs Thread!

I pronounce it "Dock-sund".

I've so far found a white rubber bone, a red rubber bone, a stick, and a tissue box.

He can roll over, sit, lie down, and limp his leg. Tomorrow I'm gonna teach him jump, shake, and I dunno what else. Maybe beg?
In a totally not asshole way I'll ask:
Is this anything other than minigames? Like is it just a really good tamagotchi?
The purpose of this game is to interact and communicate with your puppy. If you equate that with a tamagotchi, then would you equate Haven with Ratchet and Clank? How about Big Rigs with Gran Turismo? These games are similar in genre I suppose, but it's the execution that makes all the difference.

So yeah, I suppose Nintendogs is a "really good Tamagotchi", much in the same way that Ocarina of Time is a "really good Tomb Raider".

Edit: I mean that with as little attitude as possible. What you see is pretty much what you get. Go watch some movies of it, and you'll know what you're getting. If the movies don't appeal to you, the game probably won't either.

Picked up all 3 copies at EB (1 for me, 1 for my fiancee, 1 for trade/swap) and picked up Advance Wars at GameStop on my lunch. I did receive the 3 free lunchbags, but only because I called yesterday. They ran out by the time I got there today, glad I grabbed them! They are HUGE! I thought they would be able to hold the DS and a game or two....but NO, an ACTUAL lunchbag!

Just got mine. I had a pre-order at TRU on the Lab and Friends, but they didn't get that version in for some reason today. So I got my 5 bucks back, and put it towards the Dachshund and Friends.

Also just a question for everyone. As I went in to get my copy of Nintendogs, a lot of people were calling in and coming in asking for the Lab and Friends. Any reason for that or is it just an overwhemling preference?

Can't wait to play this :)

Just picked up my Daschund (sp) and friend from my EB. I already got the lunch bag which is just awesome and the screen cleaner. I also reserved another copy of the game, this time Lab which was my original reserve, but some little kid really wanted it so I gave it up.

Went to EB today and had some very nice clerks, who struggled through the streetwise coupon but accepted it. The downside is that I had called in to change my preorder from Chihuaha to Dachsund--but that didn't go through and they had sold out. I did get Chihuaha though, so I'm happy. They also didn't have the bags--but I called EB online (I had placed the preorder though them) and they are kindly sending it. All in all very cool!

They also offerred to send Dachsund and I could exchange out my Chihuahua--but I didn't want to wait that long *grin*
I heard Nintendo is going to euthanize any copies of the game that don't sell; any truth to this rumor?
Joke?
Looks like the thread's gone.

This guy's a winner, though.
For a moment I felt kind of sad after reading that guy's post . I started thinking about all of the poor puppies that ended up with idiotic owners like him.
I felt sympathy for a digital puppy.... crazy.

And the reason we make fun of GameFaqs users:

CAG is for nubs, you nubs. This is GF territory.

Guess we're all just a bunch of nubs, WTF is a nub?

Picked up my copy of Dachsund & Friends, but haven't got a chance to really dive into it. I also went back with the coupon to trade for another version, but was turned away due to 2 of my trade-ins being GBA Videos. I know some have been able to trade the videos and I was wondering what the sales clerk did for the trade-in to take affect.

Did you have the boxes with them? I had mine inside the box, so the clerk just scanned the upc and it went through.

That was me, playing on the general GameFAQs stereotype. Durr...
Instead I paid top money to have EBgames overnight it to my house. It arrived at 1030am this morning. I jumped out of bed when I heard the doorbell ring, and my DS has been turned on ever since. :)
Wow, rough life, eh? :D

I picked out my beagle, Guiness (because Guinness was too long) yesterday. She knows several tricks now, but for some reason I can't get her to sit... I'll have to erase it and try again tomorrow.
She's slow as hell, too--I took her to the park to practice with the disc, but this pug got it every time. I'll have to starve her for a few days.

Haha yeah, I was lucky enough to have tuesday, wednesday off this summer. It was perfect for releases of games/movies.
Is there a difference between dollars and owner points?
Yes, owner points are different. It's actually called trainer points. Check it by going to "Go Out", then "Info", then "Trainer Info." I'm at 520, "Archie-Level." How about everyone else?

After some petting, a nice walk (Found a yellow flying disc, and socked up at the discount shop) a little more petting, and some tennis ball throwing, I now have 492 - Archie-Level.

Man too bud havent gotten my self a copy havent even gotten myself a nintendo DS yet i'm waiting till they lower the prices lol
we really need an official Nintendogs thread I think... who wants to make it
Just merge the numerous ones that are already up and add "OFFICIAL" to the title.
lol @ last two posts.

$20 wouldn't convince me to buy one if I didn't have one.
No, but 20 dollars and a starter kit thing and a free game would convince me to buy one if I didn't have one.

I just picked one up from EB after trading in 4 crap GBA games. My Girlfriend and I played it for a bit after work. She insisted on naming my Nintendog after her real dog ;)

What are these "bags" one of the OPers were talking about?

I plan on going tomorrow to TRU, most likely, to pick up a DS, dogs, and starter kit and hopefully I'll get the bundle deal and then use the TRU coupon.

The bags are the free lunch bags that were offered as a promotional item for pre-ordering Nintendogs from EBGames. It's a suprisingly nice lunch bag. I was expecting a miniature bag that I could put my DS in, but it's actually a lunch bag. :)

My EB didn't have any of the pre-order items left when I went to the store on Monday. The guy at the store also called the other two local EB stores and they were out too. Do any of you have extra pre-order bonuses or ones you don't want? If so send me a private message because I'm interested. If your store still has them available but you need to buy the game to get them that is fine too. I didn't end up buying any copies because I wanted to buy it with the pre-order bonus. I have PayPal.

I just stopped by my local TRU and they have DS, nintendog, & some crappy ass intec $15 starter kit for $150. It's just this poorly made sign on a table with a bunch of DS & nintendogs so it's prob YMMV.

It's not YMMV. My friend and my girlfriend both took advantage of it this week. Nintendo is going to triple the number of DSs on the market with this title alone...it's ridiculous.

Well, Max is doing great at the Agility Trials. He's taken home 1st prize up through Expert Class. He also took home 1st in the Beginner Class Obediance Trial. The disc does not seem to be his forte, but that's ok. I'm very proud of him! :)

So far he can sit, shake, lay down, lay on his side, roll over, wiggle his butt, and jump. I hope to teach him spin and beg today, so that he can move on in the Obediance Trials.

Almost have 2000 trainer points. Wonder what breed will be unlocked! Is it randomized or do the breeds appear in a certain order (dependent on version, of course). Either way, it'll be a nice surprise.

Hope everyone is enjoying their puppies!
what happens if you don't pick up your dog's poop while walking it?
Yeah I was curious about that too.

Nice, my golden is named Max also.

I actually didn't pick it up once and one of the other trainers had some "stern words" for me. She said, "we all live in this town so we must do our part to clean up after our dogs." Priceless...

This sounds intereting... I wonder what hidden things are in the game... Like Seaman when you raised it talking about sex.. it had some pretty funny stuff to say.

My wifes dog must be retarded as she cant get it to pay attention to her nor will it always follow commands.

How do you get a dog to "hold" a trick for any extended amount of time? Teach it stay or something?

heh, i called the wiggle-his-butt move, "Shake That Ass."

and what exactly is considered "rolling over"? i mean, i got my dog to lie on his side, and then on his back, just which is the roll over? cause i personally called the one on his back "Play Dead."
