Not sure what it does, but I always do it. It's really cute, and I suppose it gives the dog encouragement.

If you have your dog beg, then guide up his front paws to his head, he'll start walking/dancing. I'm doing that now. The command is "You got served". =D
 
Hey, guys, I'm at about 3800 trainer points now, and I've remodeled my house and still hav e $4000. I'm a little obsessed, but I'm cutting back.

Anyway, I'll list some interesting advanced tricks.

Backflip - Sit, Jump
Breakdance - Roll Over, Spin (Chase Tail)
Handstand - Lie Down, Beg
Dance - Beg, *Move right paw up and to the right*

I'm anxious to see what I get at 4000 TP.
 
4000 is shiba... and how the hell do you get those advance tricks to work? do you move them through the motions, or you tell them the tricks to do while in the position... I am so friggin confused about this part... I realyl want to know also how to teach my pug to do the disco spin.

i tried that... i rolled my pug onto its back, then gave him the chase tail command ("tail" is what I tell him) but all he does is get up and chase his tail... gahh... at least I got the dancing on two legs down. i set it to "dancey dance" voice command.
 
anyone else having a hard time with voice commmands? my dog seems to have stopped responding to a few commands, like spin.
and I'm trying to teach him a new trick, but he doesn't seem to understand me-- even though I say commands the same exact way every single time.

They can only rmember 14 (i think) commands at once. That MAY be the problem...or your dogs retarded. One of the two :)
 
Commands are not forgotten by the dog unless you make them forget. If your dog cannot learn any more commands, it will tell you.

Make sure your mouth is not too close or too far away from the DS's microphone - The recommend 6 inches.

Yeah, my shetland sheepdog wouldn't do the roll over, jump move. It would just get up, then jump. SOme odgs won't do it all the time. Maybe you just have to wait until they like you a bit more.

Yeah, at 4000, in chihuahua version, I got the Husky. That sucks, because I really want Shiba. Oh well, I'll get one eventually.
 
One of my employees brought in her DS and had her Corgie meet my Chiuahuah...she had aviator glasses! Not fair. I got a damn "Rainbow Necklace" yippie :p

On a side not, my white record is a short clip of the Imperial Death March :) "Bow-wow down to the Empire"
 
Yeah, I've got the aviator glasses, and it makes my nintendog look like my dog in my avatar.

And when I recorded a message on my White Record, and I listened to it when I connected with my cousin's dog, it made my voice really deep and scary. Try it some time.

Yeah, and I connected to try and get his Beagle, but it didn't work! I got his Pug earlier, but the Beagle didn't work. Is it possible that you can only get one breed from a person?
 
Max won 1st prize in the Championship Agility Trials today! Definitely exciting.

I also taught him to beg, sneeze ("Ach-oo!"), and spin on the floor ("Breakdown!"). I'm going to start focusing on the obediance trials now, hopefully getting him up to championship status within the next couple days.

I've got over $3500 and almost 3000 trainer points. Not ready to get a new dog yet. I want to wait and unlock some more breeds, plus have Max learn most of his allotted tricks. Maybe I'll redo my house at some point. I'm not sure what breed I want next, but I know Max will be looking for a playmate.

I'm currently waiting to get a new dog until I get a new breed. I don't have a new breed quite yet, but I'm getting there. I plan on buying a new apartment the same time I buy my new dog, so it'll be a while. DJ is on his way to Disc champoinships, and then I'll work with him on completing the Obedience trials. He already passed Beginner. As for agility, he won Beginner, then failed at Open. He couldn't do the seesaw. any tips on that?

In any case, I'm hoping to have 2000 dollars before a new dog. 1000 for an apartment (Why not wait and get the 1 thousand one instead of going for the 500?) and 500 for the dog, leaving me with 500 for supplies. Then dog 2 can get me more money with competitions. I'm hoping for a Shetland Sheepdog, Shiba, or German Shepard as my next dog. Hmmmmm. I like the Dachshund, but I already have a nice little beagle. I want something larger.
 
When I met one of the trainers on the walk and they give advice, he said, "Agility Trials are the hardest." I kind of think they're the easiest, as I've got two dogs that have won the championship of the Agility Trials, but I can't even beat master on obedience or disc. Agility's pretty easy, methinks.
 
I got my second puppy, a black daschund named Zel. He's a quick learner, learned sit, lie down and lay on his side, in 3 commands each time.
Note to others: don't play with the Piggy Bank, it breaks instantly. I just wanted to see it and I dropped it :cry: But I just got another one on my last walk with Kira.
Has anyone found the Jack Russell Book or Fireman's Hat? I keep hoping to find one.
I'm ~200 away from 2000 points now.
 
Haha, I had a feeling that if I threw the vase, it'd break, so I did, and it did, in fact, break once it hit the ground. I just loaded the game again and sold it for $100. I've never seen the Piggy Bank, and I'm hoping I can get that Jack Russell Book one time.

Can't wait to get dog number 3, for 2 times the walks and contests!

Well I'm glad the piggy bank is only worth 2 dollars. It would suck to break something valued at 100.
I'm looking for the Jack Russell Book too. I'm not interested in a dalmation, really.

actually, I'm probably just speaking to close to the microphone. but he heard me correctly like 20 times and still didn't learn it. I wonder if the number of times they hear you correctly builds up, or if they have to learn it within a certain amount of time after hearing the command.....
 
I found a Luigi hat!!!

It looks so funny on my tiny little Beagle.

I need to find a Mario hat, so when I have another dog they can be a pair. =D

So cool! I just found a purple pearl ribbon that's very pretty. Also I unlocked Yorkie. Right now my favorite toy is the plush die and my favorite accessory is the big sunglasses.
 
How do you get your dog to return the disc on his own? he'll catch it then lie down and beat at it, only returning it to me after i tap the screen a bunch of times. i've tried petting him as a reward when he returns it but no change in his behavior. And has anyone played on mass transit? With all the noise on the NYC subway my dog spazzes out and does a whole bunch of tricks without me saying a word.

i found a Mario hat the first day i played.
 
I think I'm just getting to the point where I'm getting somewhere. Penny, my Cavalier, just took 3rd in the obedience competition (beginner) and in one night she finalize "Lie down" and learned shake from scratch. She's energetic on walks and this is just becoming more and more fun. Time for she and I to sleep though. Stupid real world throwing off my virtual puppy training! ;)

As Nintendogs has been sold out EVERYWHERE I've gone lately (I've got mine just noticed as I've been shopping for school), when will we see some inital sales stats on it and the DS systems? I'm hoping it did big things for Nintendo. :)

I think after he catches it, call his name to get his attention and come over. I think after awhile he should start bringing it back on his own. And of course, keep rewarding him when he returns. See if that helps! :)

Same here, I laughed when I put it on him.
Right now my accessory choice for Max is the Lucky Collar. It goes well with his coloring (black, brown, white coat). I also found the 3-D glasses last night which was a cool find.
 
I put the Luigi hat on him at the park when another dog was there, and when it appeared on his head and the Pirate Hat disappeared, the other dog cocked his head and stared, and then just kind of backed away slowly. =P

When calling your dog, whistle (My choice) or call his name. It weilds better results than stylus tapping. I just whistled as soon as he landed from his catch, and he came to me. Now I don't have to do anything at all, unless he cathces and REALLY long throw. then he'll run about 3/4 of the way, get tire,d and sit and chew. Then I have to whsitle. But he's bad at super long throws anyway, so I don't have to throw many.

Today, my plan is the teach Handstand...and breakdance. I dunno what else to teach.
 
Man, I just got pwned in the Master Disc comp. How the 'ell are you supposed to place, let alone get 1st?!

In any case, my dog won't listen at all, and is horrid at Agility. Seems I'll be hard on for money.
 
Just unlocked the Yorkie. Meh, I'm not a Yorkie fan, m'self. I'll be waiting 'til 4000 Trainer Points for a new dog, unless I give in and get a Siberian Husky. They're so cool. I'd named mine Hugo.

But yeah. If I ge ttoo bored i'll probably have to get one.
 
In one of the disc competitions, it mentioned how Shiggy and his dog 'xxx' were in first place. That'd be pretty cool if you could ever meet him out on a walk.

Also I found a weird trick, get the dog on its back and then poke its front paw....it squeaks, or something. I haven't gotten him to learn it yet but the lightbulb comes up for it.

How many points do you need to qualify?
 
Well I'm now about 200 away from 4000 trainer points. The points definitely come quicker with the two dogs. I found a Mario hat today along with a few other goofy hats, like a beret and sombraro. I'm over 1000 bucks now, so that's pretty sweet.
I've been having some issues with the beg command. I'm in the process of trying different command words, beg and up seem to get confused alot so I guess tomorrow I'll try stand or standup.
Still looking for those special items ; ; But on the plus side, I made a bunch of money because both Kira and Zel are getting duplicates of the expensive items (I'm keeping one of each item for collection purposes).

Posted this in the deal thread but it's probably more suited for here.. Big N didn't expect this much demand and no more shipments of nintendogs are being shipped until the end of September..

And call your local EB sometime this week if you preordered, a lot of them are getting restocks on preorder bonuses.

Even though it's apparently selling well, every store I've been to still has copies of all 3 versions of the game.

Same here, with the exception of EB Games. They were sold out except for a few preorders no one picked up yet, mine included.

On the other hand, I haven't seen Advance Wars DS anywhere.
