The Official Nintendogs Thread!
I have about the same number of trainer points as you. I just play it once or twice a day, enouch to feed them, take them on walks, and do some of their competitions. I've been lax about teaching my second dog her tricks. I still love the game, but I have a lot of other stuff going on that it's just become a pick-up-and-play every now and then (but I am always sure to feed them at least once a day! :) )
Same here. I've barely dog my second dog any tricks, and I usually feed my dogs three times a day (When I wake up, when I get home from school, and when I go to bed). I usually do 6 contests, but I'm lucky if I get 2 walks in.

Quick question about the discount shops. Is the stuff in there completely random. I've never once seen anything different from the normal shop (save for maybe milk and canned food). Nothing exciting is ever there. For instance, I've never, ever been able to find any biscuits or treats. Is there a different "section" than the main scroll window? Or haven't I been fortunate?

it seems to be random but sometimes items can't be found until you have enough trainer points. I do not believe this is the case for the treats. Keep trying.

check out the book about the agility stuff in the care category, basically i rub my stylus back and forth over the hurdles to get my dog to jump and i tap the entrance to the tube to get him inside, then tap along the tube to get him to follow the tapping out the other side.

just got my damn boxer... took forever to unlock him (name is Barrel). Nw I have 3 dogs and don't care for more... I cant stand the thought of owning 8 dogs in this game >

I feel badly. Lately, I have only had time to feed and water my German shepherd, Thunder once a day, after he reached famished and parched status, and today was the first time I got to take him for a walk in days. I legitimately feel guilty. It's strange.

At least the real-life Thunder has been eating well. That fucker is a pig... He weighs just as much as, if not more than me (I'm 125).
Lame. Oh well.

Ha, I made a replica of my German Shepard.. she was in the house this morning while I was playing and I started doing voice commands.. sit/down/roll over.. out of the corner of my eye, I noticed my real dog doing everything I said.. just one of those funny things. My mom's hooked on this now, I'm waiting until later tonight when I can do more competitions so I can buy her her own dog..
Cool... I didn't know you had a German shepherd, too. I'm also glad to hear that you are enjoying the game as much as, if not more than, I am.

The 2 bad things about the game are (A) They have no all-black shepherds, so I cannot make a proper replica of my dog, and (B) none of the versions have cocker spaniels, so I cannot make my other dog.

My beagle, Max, won his 10th consecutive Championship in the Agility Trials this morning. I was hoping something special would happen, but I guess it's all just honor!

I haven't been playing very much overall, so nothing else new. I have almost 9000 trainer points and about $20,000. Still hunting around for the fireman's hat and the book. Got the Mario Kart a few weeks ago: the puppies love chasing it! I like bringing it to the park, lots more room to drive around. Still love the game, just don't have time to give it my fullest attention (I've been sorely neglecting teaching tricks to my shiba  ).

Today I hit 10,000 Trianer Points and unlocked the Corgi. I want one!

I have 40,000 dollars, so I could buy a Desktop room for 20, but I want to wait and save for something else that could possibly come up later at a higher price.

The Outerspace room that I'm trying to save up for is 100,000... I have 50,000.
The seaside is 50000.
Sweet, thanks for the info. i'll have to save for outerspace! =D
It looks pretty sweet ^_^
Can't wait to finally save up enough.

How many trainer points did you get to access this outer space?
I'll have to resist the urge opf buying the beach thing. >
Is there a way to get a dog who's afraid of an item to warm up to it, or is it a permanent status?
Im not sure specifically, but my Chiuahuah hated that damn stick, but now he has no problems with it. Didnt do anything special as far as i know either

They'll usually warm up to it.

So LuLu, since you have 5 dogs, how does the whole Dog Hotel thing work? Are the dogs always really hungry when you get them out?

Is it a hassle?

no the dogs seem to stay the same status as when you put them in. It's a slight hassle if you just keep one dog out at a time like I tried out today, but othersise swapping is pretty quick.
It's getting to be time consuming doing all the agility trials and walks.

I'm going to get a DS tomorrow, should I pick up this game or wait for a price drop? Would Advance Wars DS or Meteos be a better game to get instead?

I know nothing about Advanced Wars. Meteos is fun.
But the main thing is, I highly doubt this game will drop in price anytime in the future. Nintendo will milk it for all it's worth.

Nintendogs isn't exactly a game that you'll want to play exclusively. It's created to only be played for about a half hour each day. Picking up another game with it is a good idea.

5 dogs  I barely have time to take care of two dogs.

Well, I have 12000 Trainer Points and unlocked the Seaside. Sweet!

I'm saving for the outer space, though. I have 52000 dollars now, so I'm hoping to have close to 100,000 by the time I unlock it.

I got a question. I just got the game and taught my dog how to sit. Later he would sit, and if I pushed him to the right he would lie down. I thought him to lie down, but every time I would say to sit down, he would do the lie down instead. Are these the same tricks?

Also, now my dog runs up to me and sorta leans forward and shakes his ass around up in the air. The trick icon comes up, but I don't know what kind of trick the dog is wanting to do. Any help?

Damn, I'm so far behind everybody else in this game. I just reached the 6,000 mark a few days ago and ordered my first interior decoration, the tatami.

Check out the dog care manuals, I forget which one but I think its the first one that tells you how to do the first few tricks. The manuals are under "care" in your item screen.

It just depends on how much time you have for your virtual dog. I think I have a bit too much. =3

Just FYI, if you press the R button you can be right behind the helicopter. I think that's pretty neat.

Or maybe it's the L button. One of the two. Sorry.

you can try using different words. my dog kept mixing up "shake" and "spin" so i made him unlearn "shake" and used "paw" instead

I use "circle" for spin and it works quite well.

I play mine from time to time, at least feed them daily, but sometimes no time for the competitions.

I have 3 dogs and about 10k points now.

Darke - Husky, Dyna - Shitzu, and Zelda - K.C. Spaniel.

Darke is my main dog though, he's been with me through a lot. Nap time, he rolls over, he learned back flips, to breakdance, and when I say Tazmanian Devil he gets into begging position and spins. Cute? Yes >.>;

I still haven't found the Jack Russel Book or Fireman's Hat, but I just found the next best thing...

A Mario Kart!

Yay for me!

16000 trainer points, by the way. And 75,000 dollars. So close to that Outer Space!

WTF HOW? I have like 1,000 trainer points and $1,200...and I train, play with, and enter my nintendog into contest every day...(I usually win...usually). TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!!

I've had the game since release day. I have three dogs, and usually win at least 6/9 contests a day. The other 3 I place in.

This is Championship, by the way.

I also walk my dogs every day.

Yup.

just a heads up... my pug Tofu has won disc competitions in championship level 45 times in a row. Don't ask me how, but he's pretty badass.

NEW ADVANCED TRICK: soemthing I saw one of my dogs do, and tried out as a trick... and worked!

tell your dog to lay on its back (play dead), then give them the command to jump. Your dog will do a ninja like spring off the floor onto all fours... pretty cool IMO.
