The things I like-

-The PS3 is super quiet
Pretty cool...seeing as just about every console nowadays (with the exception of PSTwo and possibly GC) sound like vacuum cleaners.

-Your PlayStation 2 save game files can be transferred to the PS3

$14.99 isn't that much at all for the adapter...maybe people will quit bitching about it now?

-The Sixaxis controller doesn’t feel too light

-The PSP will connect via Wi-Fi to the PS3’s hard drive

This sounds awesome. I hope it works as well as it sounds.

-Re-download all your merch to someone else’s PS3

That's pretty cool. Free stuff from someone who already bought it :D

I seriously doubt that Sony will let people do that. It's simply a bad business decision if they do. If they do that though, it's pretty awesome.
 
Is it me or did Sony really put in a lot of work in how it looks and sounds. That's great and all but I wish they put more effort in making it useful so that all of our PS2 games can be played at 480p resolution.

No they can be charged not Changed... At least easily changed.

You wont have to buy a new controller after 30 hours just charge it up again... The CHANGING batteries is an issue thats further down the line in a year or two.

I thought it meant that the controller only lasted 30 hours :wave:

what's he complaining about?? I had throw out my ipod after the battery died after only 10 hours. 30 hours is 3 TIMES that. Don't even get me started on electric cars.

Actually, it's not an issue. Sony has already stated that if a battery runs dead, they will exchange the controller without charging the consumer. This was posted soon after the initial story about the battery being non-replaceable. Sony said they don't expect to exchange controllers very often because of the type of battery they are using.

Anyway, we dont know how the charging works (from the pictures of the controller, I can't see a plug in. Also look at the way that the article is written, it very much suggests that you can't charge it.). Not to mention that eventually that battery with either wear out, or knowing recent Sony batteries, will erupt into fire.

Personally, I dont deal with chargers on wireless controllers. I have a fuckton of batteries hanging around and I'd rather just switch out some AAs than play with a cord, or plugging it in when I go to bed. Cause then I'm tired, and the likelyhood of me getting the controller plugged in is very very low.

You're welcome.

The controller charges via USB. This has been mentioned in numerous articles/threads here on CAG. There is a usb port on the top of the controller.

Do you honestly think Sony would sell a controller for $50 that is only good for 30 hours? Are you really that naive?

Ummm... the charging works similar to the way the 360 controller charges. Except that you use a USB cable (like the one used by the PSP to charge) instead of a custom cable. If you look closely at the picture of the controller, the front actually has a mini-USB port. And the batteries be built-in saves not only the cost of an adaptor for recharging, but also eliminates using costly disposable batteries.

P.S. This is something I would like to see in the 360 controllers since I have no intention of buying a PS3.

Agreed. This just screams the exact opposite of what big business wants to use the internet and downloading for. If it's viable, where and how many times has got to be highly limited--- or for a trail period (which I can see happening).

With Sony's recent track record, I honestly have no idea what they'd do. I admit that a 30 hour controller is a stretch, but so is the idea that the PS3 is clearly a computer.

In what universe does it make sense to have $50 controllers with internal batteries that can't be charged? The mind boggles...

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm expressing amazement that anyone could think this is actually the case with the PS3 controllers. Of course they are rechargeable.

Once you pay for something, you can download it 5 times..anywhere. The downside is that if the game you bought is playable online, only 1 user can play it at one time. So if you download the game on your ps3, then download it on your buddy's ps3.... you can't play the game online if your buddy's playing it online.


As for the controller, I don't get why so many people don't understand how charging works when we're in the ipod age...
You use it until it's low on bat... then you charge it.. Over time the battery loses it's ability to charge, but that's 2-3 years down the road. I don't hear anyone complaining about Ipod's non-replaceable battery when it cost $200.
 
I thought the 30 hours is how long the battery life is before it needs to be recharged. Not how long the batteries life before it is rendered useless. People, rechargeable batteries have years of length before they need to be replaced.

Considering all the shit that has just happened recently with Sony I would still be suprised if it were true, but I'd still believe it.
