I'm glad you realized that this is an opinion because PS2 games are being ported to the PSP, even by Sony. See Gran Turismo 4. And, no, I don't see some different tracks as being not a port since the bulk of the game (the physics and graphics engines, car models, etc) are being dragged over from the PS2 counterpart.

Grand Turismo 4 isn't a port, its a relatively simultaneous release.

Now on to games and graphics. Since you dont have one(an xbox), you probably dont know that ps2's graphics(on most games) look like shit compared to xbox games. I recentally bought Atv off road fury 3............a game produced by SONY, and it looks like complete crap, i would say that when it comes to platformers and such ps2 blows xbox out of the water since the main xbox platformer is Blinx(which is fun, but not quite and good as ratchet & clank and jak games).

I dont like to rip on Noobies, but mabey you should get some of your facts straight before you decide to open your mout...............type on the keyboard.............

You're an idiot. You completely MISSED my entire argument--I didn't say PS2 was better BECAUSE it had extra features, but DESPITE THE FACT. Maybe you should try passing the 4th grade before you make any attempt at reading anything more complicated than an Encyclopedia Brown novel. More over--you're calling me a fanboy?! I think that very little of this will be relevant in two years. Sony talks a good game about convergence and the future of gaming/entertainment, and while most of that talk never bears fruit in the long run, it never seems to bother the consumer.

Both Sony and MS had grand visions of using the current gen boxes as complete multimedia hubs, replacing virtually every other entertainment device in your living room. Didn't happen. Sony can't even be bothered to support the hard-drive, let alone get the thing to work like a TiVo. Anyone actually believe Kaz Hirai's big words about how the PS3 won't necessarily even be a physical console, just games on demand, via the internet? Me neither.

Similarly, you shouldn't expect to watch anything on UMD except the occasional niche title from Square-Enix or whoever, or to listen to more than the song or two you can fit on the pack-in memory stick, or really do much of anything except play games. The tech just isn't there at this price-point, and no amount of wishful thinking will make it otherwise.

Let's break it down: a one gig memory stick goes for c. $120. My iRiver is 40 gigs, and ran me a little over $300. A PSP plus a stick will hit (roughly) $320. Yeah, it'll play games, but it doesn't hold 1/40th of the music of my dedicated player, is approximately four times as large, has no subtle way to transport it (either you're carrying it in the muey macho carrying case, or in the open with the screen exposed), and lacks the bells and whistles. Sure, some people will buy a PSP for music and movies, but people also buy Big Mouth Billy Bass singing fish, too. People don't always make the best purchases.

Many folks pick up Sony systems based more on potential than any actual, verifiable ability. Nobody is going to remember that Sony promised the moon or even care, because they'll be gulled by Sony's promises the next time there's a system launch, too.

When you start to think "Well, maybe..." just think about how many times Sony updated the DVD drivers for the PS2 for added functionality like it promised.

And yes, I carry my SP folded in one pocket, and my iRiver in the other.

i never said that you said the GC was crap, actually i know you said the GC was good but i was posting ALL of this around the fact that even though you dont have an XBOX, you feel you must say its shitty, when in fact, it awesome.
