CAGiversary!
This got buried in the sticky/merge so I thought it should be reposted so people can actually find the list. This was originally posted by RavenHawk so he deserves the credit.

Thanks to Drakken for the recent update.

Many thanks to CrashSpyro123 for bringing this to our attention!

Thanks goes out to trustcompany1013 also for mentioning this in his thread...guess the sale started a little earlier than expected!

Speculation is that CC may be getting in more games from their warehouses, so don't give up. I personally know of 2 CC's that have the games pulled until the sale officially starts, so once again...don't give up! And ladies and gentlemen, don't forget to tip your listkeeper! *cough*Ikaruga*cough*

if you look at most business employee manuals, holding is not allowed at all. Most managers just look the other way on holding, meaning they don't care as long as their employer doesn't walk thru the door.

u forgot to put:

i bought them on Monday and i posted on that night

I used to work at Bestbuy, and having the games acutally hidden? Probably not. BB and CC use similar systems to inventory their merchandise so, if you asked an employee to look it up in their inventory system, it would show the game(s) being there, assuming they were being hidden.

Why would CC be getting new shipments of inventory if this is a giant clearance? The only place I could imagine they would be getting inventory from is other CC stores which all seem to be cleaned out. It would be nice but I'm not holding my breath...
Like I said, I was there when they were restocking this morning...picked up 13 more games that they didn't have the night before. I don't care why it's happening, I'm just glad that it is.
yeah, I don't care either - I just don't want to get my hopes up. It looks like I will be going to CC again after work... I think they are getting sick of me... :D
Your manager won't let you buy them, but he'll let you load up two shopping carts full of them and hide them in the warehouse until Sunday?

If that's true, you and your manager both deserve a curbstomping.
Yeah, that's real bad form. When I worked at CC, I was allowed to hold a game, but only in a situation when I was working that day and I was going to purchase it when I clocked out. In that case, I held it behind the CS counter. In all other cases, it was a strict no-no. They weren't going to allow me or anyone else free layaway

Naw, i think they are starting to take a likening towards me at my CC. Every time i come in they're like as long as you show us the list, then it's all good.

I don't think CC workers should be penalized because they work at CC.

If I was on shift and I learned all these games were $5 and, because I was on shift, I couldn't buy any - it would drive me nuts.

Two carts full might be a tad overkill, maybe you should just grab 20 or so games you REALLY want and let the others go. Still, good on you for getting some stuff you want.

My CC had a PS2 game called 'Kengo' I believe it was, that I don't see on the list.
Just got back from CC, they had 2 cardboard bins with games in/near the game section. I guess maybe 200-300 games combined [hard to tell, I didn't really count] between GbA, PS1, PS2, GC, Xbox. Big sign on it saying 4.99 Video Game Clearance. Some other guy was asking the clerk what the deal was, he said they wouldn't be 'getting more' because it was a 'discontined/clearance sale, to get rid of inventory.' However, he did put a few more in the box as I was there, so maybe they're pushing stock from the back, because the actual shelves both today and yesterday were not very full at all.
Selection [at least PS2-wise] was very lacking at my store, it could be the 'good stuff' is not out yet, or already gone, etc.
I got:
Maximo [GH]
Roadkill
Summoner [they didn't have 2 that I saw]
Fur Fighters
Road Trip
Fantavision

Other PS2 games they had were some Jampacks, Herdy Gerdy, Okage, Bust a Move, Headhunter, Legaia 2, MetropolisMania, City Crisis, Big Mutha Truckers, Mobile Light Force, and a few more. I'll go back out tomorrow and Sunday to see if they're putting more stock out.

Zenithian Legend: *clapclapclap*. Buying a few I can see. Buying two carts, before a sale officially starts, especially rare games, is being a jerkass. CC is losing money on this sale, I'm pretty sure. If they lose money, they can't afford to pay for things like, oh, salary. If word gets out that CC employees are getting 'the good stuff' before it even hits the floor, then consumers get pissed and say Well fine, why should I bother shopping there? Eventually good stuff gets to the floor, and there are no consumers to buy it. Thus no income, thus no job.

I'm not saying they'd penalize, just that I could only put it aside if I was in a position where I couldn't make the purchase at that time. Never an overnight holdover, though - that isn't an employee getting a disadvantage, that's an employee taking advantage. Customers can't hold games over ever. You know know the number of times that I got screamed at over the phone "WHY THE F NOT" when I told a customer that store policy wouldn't allow me to pull a certain in demand item off the shelves for when they came in. This was particularly a problem because I started work when the PS2 came out and people went nuts looking for them.

^^^ maybe he/she does have one of each game. The list is awefully long.

General statement:
I don't find employees hording them any different than anyone else hording them. I personally think if you don't intend to keep it don't buy it. If not, don't be a hypocrit and buy multiple copies of the value titles so you can sell them for more than what you paid. I like that some bought extras to sell at the same price on here to help others out. What I don't like is someone buying them only to try and sell them for 15 or higher to quote on quote make up their expenses. You (not directed at ^; just in general) are just doing the same as the employee in question.

Penalized? He's not being penalized, he's being rewarded! I wish CC would let ME load up two shopping carts full of games and store them in the warehouse until Sunday! What a joke.

I actually blame the manager more than the kid. That's just not a good way to conduct business.

How do people feel about people who buy one copy of several different games in hopes of trading them for games that he/she wants that weren't available at his/her particular CC?

Isn't funny how people that just register all happen to work at Circuit City? I don't believe he has 2 carts full on video games. He is over exaggerating. He might have a few video games stored away, but not 2 carts full.

Penalized? He's not being penalized, he's being rewarded! I wish CC would let ME load up two shopping carts full of games and store them in the warehouse until Sunday! What a joke.

I actually blame the manager more than the kid. That's just not a good way to conduct business.
My point is, imagine YOU worked there, learned about this $5 sale, and saw EVERY game sitting right in front of you on the shelves but your dickhead manager wouldn't let you buy them or put them away for later.

Wouldn't that drive you insane?

That's how you would be penalized for working at CC.

Yes, this guy was rewarded, and good for him. He works a shitty job. I've worked at retail stores - getting in on the deals before the customer does is one of the FEW perks they have. These people get shit on ALL DAY LONG. So good for the guy that he's using some of his hard earned money to buy the games for himself. And good for the manager on being a nice guy and keeping his employees happy. Retail has one of the highest turnover rates of any job in the country - the way to retain these people is to keep them happy. I'm sure the guy is a good employee or else his manager wouldn't have allowed him to hold the games.
the main problem stims to the company as a whole. They should have only allowed one title per customer.
That still wouldn't stop employees from buying two shopping carts full of games, since the employees would be the ones to (selectively) enforce the policy. Just like price matching or anything else, it's never consistent. Like this kid storing two carts full of games for five days in the warehouse...could a regular customer walk up with even one game and say "hey this is going to go on sale this Sunday, can you hold it in the back for me?" They'd laugh in your face. Have you ever called on the phone and found what you were looking for, and asked them to hold it overnight for even just one day? They don't do it for customers, that's their policy. But the policy is subject to change apparently...it's like asking the foxes to guard the chicken coop.

I made my fourth trip since Sunday to the local CC. I had a bunch of stuff scanned and found a few $4.99 games that I have not seen on any lists.

They are:
Ghost Recon (Gamecube)
Apex (Xbox)
IndyCar Series (Xbox) (NOTE: There is also an IndyCar Series 2005 game -- IT IS NOT ON SALE AS FAR AS I KNOW)

According to a friend of mine, Tony Hawk 3 for the Gamecube and XBox is also $4.99. (I did not verify this myself).
Tony Hawk 4 still scans as regular price for both Gamecube and Xbox.

I could not find a non-PH version of Ghost Recon for the XBox, so I do not know if that version is part of the sale as well.
Ghost Recon: Island Thunder(Xbox) and Rainbow Six 3(Xbox) are both still regular price.

I just stopped at the Circuit City in Roseville, MI. Looks like they were pulling some games off the shelf.

I DID pick up though:
Dead to Rights (PH)
Star WArs: Clone Wars (woohoo...a LIVE game)

They didn't have much else in XBOX. Looked like Mojo, Syberia (not sure if it worked though), Quantum Redshift, The Thing and NFL Blitz Pro.

I tried to get LOTR:Two Towers, but did not work (it was the normal copy, not PH)

Tried, Namco Museum and a Morrowmind (PH), didn't work.

It's not your right to get a deal earlier than all other customers. As an employee of the store, that gives you no more entitlement than any other. If that drives you insane, then I don't know what to tell you, take some Paxil or something. He was rewarded for nothing. The job at CC isn't so shitty - if he worked at a TRU, I'd say good for him because that job legitimately sucks, but working at a CC isn't particularly difficult and it pays better than most other part time jobs.

thats where a manager would say something.

could a regular customer walk up with even one game and say "hey this is going to go on sale this Sunday, can you hold it in the back for me?"

in a store like CC no. But you could always be smart and go ahead and buy it , return it sunday and get an extra 10% off your purchase.

It is a perk of their job to get first dibs. If it isn't for the sale until sunday, of course they are going to have them in the back to begin with. If this one employee wants to buy them, I don't see the difference in them buying it or a customer who would buy the same two carts. I luckily got a few things before the dealers rampaged thru my store so I know it happens. I personally don't see the difference between the two.
How do people feel about people who buy one copy of several different games in hopes of trading them for games that he/she wants that weren't available at his/her particular CC?
As long as you aren't being a whore about it, I'm fine with it. If I was to find a game that I knew a fellow CAG wanted, I'd pick it up for them. I'd probably trade it or give it to them for price+gas+shipping.

I just got back from my Circuit City for the 2nd time. This time I got (all for PS2):
No One Lives Forever
Drakan: The Ancient Gates
Blood Omen 2
Beyond Good and Evil
Parappa 2
Wallace & Gromit
RE Code: Veronica

Now I'm not saying for sure that they restocked, just that there were games there I hadn't seen on Sunday. Although this time they were all neatly in a bin for my buying convenience. And what's all this racket about Disgaea that everyone's talking about? I had to wade through a bunch of em just to get to the good games!
;)

PS Monster Rancher 3 did not ring up for $5 for me.

I don't care how nice the kid is or how hard it is to attract employees. You don't like your job, then go find a better one. That's no excuse to break the rules. When you take a job, you know the rules, and it's only fair when everybody follows the same standard. What about the other employees who will be walking past this one kid's two shopping carts full of games for the next five days? How happy has his manager made the other 25-30 folks who work at Circuit City?

It's stupid no matter how you look at it. I think it's pretty dubious whether it's even true, but if it is, then the manager has really made a poor decision. If regular customers are able to buy the games, then let the kid buy them after work or call his momma or something. Letting the kid hold two shopping carts full of games in the warehouse for five days is the worst possible decision that manager could have made under the circumstances.
How do people feel about people who buy one copy of several different games in hopes of trading them for games that he/she wants that weren't available at his/her particular CC?
That's cool, I have no problem with people that even buy carts full of games by finding them at the store legitamitely. Hell, you find them first, you have every right to buy whatever you want and how many you want. I do have major issues with employees of said store hiding carts full of games in the back until the sale starts, going in on Sunday, going straight to the back and buying 2 carts full of games before they even hit the shelf. That's just being an asshole. Especially when this dude got the list from a member here who was nice enough to share it with him and who knew nothing of the sale until this person told him about it. Then comes on here, bragging about how all the games are hidden in the back for "meeeee". People have no ethics.

I never said it was a RIGHT to get in on the deals earlier, I said it was a perk. It happens at every retail store on the planet, so don't be all upset that this one time at this one CC over this one deal it happened. I'm sure the guys who work at Best Buy put away a bunch of games for themselves when that sale was going on, too.

I didn't literally mean it'd drive you insane, it would just be irritating. It's right in your reach, a copy of $5 Disgaea, and you can't touch it because you work there. That's lame to me.

And I've never worked at CC, but I have worked at CompUSA, and even with the higher pay the job still sucks. About 90% of the customers you see in a day are assholes who think you are completely worthless because you work a retail job - they treat you like shit, order you around like a slave, and generally have bad attitudes.

I'd probably trade it or give it to them for price+gas+shipping.

this is how it should be. cool in my book.

Circuit City didn't even know about the glitch until mid sunday. It was flooded on the internet saturday. Point is dealers had a chance to take them early on.
But you could always be smart and go ahead and buy it , return it sunday and get an extra 10% off your purchase. .... I personally don't see the difference between the two.
The difference is this kid is able to sit on two shopping carts full of games until the sale begins, and that's not right. It's not at all the same as a pricematch. You know what IS the same as a pricematch? A PRICEMATCH! Let the kid do what anyone else would have to do...put two shopping carts full of games on his AMEX and then PM them on Sunday when they go to $4.99. What, can't afford to do that? Too bad...then pick out the ones you really want and put the rest back on the shelf, and on Sunday PM the ones you bought, and cross your fingers on the others. Just like everyone else, nothing special, no penalty and no reward. That's the fair way to handle it as a manager.

Sometimes there are no other jobs. I'm sure if this guy is working retail he's either really young (17 ish), or he can't find work anywhere else. Nobody's first choice is to work retail, unless you plan on being a manager or something.

Every job has rules and every rule at jobs get broken. You think this is the first time this has happened? Employees at restaurants aren't supposed to eat except on their lunch breaks - you think they don't sneak a french fry off your plate before they bring it out to you? My point is, you seemed shocked that this happened, when this is probably the most common thing that employees in retail stores do.

I'm sure the kid didn't take ALL the games his fellow employees wanted - not everyone who works at CC wants video games. I'm sure they divided them all up and everyone was happy with what they got.

Yeah, let him call his mom, who probably has to drive 30 minutes to the CC where her kid ALREADY IS. That makes zero sense. I agree this situation is a little extreme if it's true - 2 shopping carts for 5 days is a bit much - but in a typical situation if an employee was holding 15 or so games for himself when he got off work it wouldn't bother me at all and it shouldn't bother you either.
Does anyone know if any Circuit City in Minnesota is running this deal? Anyone been to one recently?
call them
I don't think it's just clearance. It's a sale which is most likely being held to simply generate store traffic.
or to get rid off old inventory

It comes down to ethics

good thing you bring up ethics. Ethics also deal with real world situations. Notice, this site for instance, a lot of ethics are thrown out the window in about half of these threads. For instance, someone bumped a thread about buy 2 get 1 at TRU and returning games you bought so you get to keep the free game. Damn how unethical is that. Releasing company information before something happens is unethical too. If the sale truly is sunday, it was release early making it unethical.

I am sorry that you might not get everything you want. I didn't get everything I wanted from my CC sale. But you know what, shit happens. Just wait until the next sale to try and grab what you want.

by the way, I am not as unethical as you make me out to.

Holding 15 games isn't at all the same thing, as you pointed out. Is that what we're discussing? No, it's not. So why change the scenario? That has no relevence. Loading up two shopping carts full of games and storing them in the back for five days is not only unfair to customers but to the other Circuit City employees. You sure are quick to give this kid some sympathy. I bet he's not too upset about working at Circuit City right now. How about you show some sympathy for the other guys who work there who might have wanted to get in on the deal also? Ridiculous.

^ we just realize that if the employee didn't get them then another dealer gets them so what does it matter. the average customer still doesn't get them

The unknown Donald Duck game is PS1 and the unknown Disney game I believe is GCN, as under the title section on my printout, it lists it as "GCN Disneys Extreme Skat."

Ahh ok, moral relativism. Since someone else is throwing ethics out the window, let's all do it? Nice.

The sale is not Sunday, the sale is now. That's why the games are ringing up for $4.99 and the employees are putting them in special bins and marking them with $4.99 stickers.

Again, the sale is not Sunday. The AD is Sunday. There's a big difference.

Dude, calm down. We're having a discussion, no need to get all worked up.

From what you were saying, you seem to think the employees shouldn't get on any deal at all, period. My point is that they should get in on all the deals they want.

Yeah, I am quick to give sympathy, because like 45 jerks jumped down his throat as soon as he posted. You guys are like vultures around here, ready to slam anyone and everyone who has done something you personally don't like. If you guys don't get your way, you bitch, and you look to place the blame on everyone else. "Damn employees hording games, damn ebayers taking games to sell, damn damn damn". So if you didn't get the game you want in this sale, boo hoo, I didn't get one single game from the Best Buy sale. I don't care WHO got the games before me, employees or ebay sellers, the point is they were gone when I got there and all the whining on internet forums in the world isn't going to change that fact.

every CC employee I have talked to has claimed the sale was supposed to start 7/11 this coming sunday. Even in someone letter to CC that is posted somewhere on it, it says it starts 7/11. Obviously, some glitch caused it to start a week early. Instead of correcting it, the company decided to try and pull some. Thats why you find some stores with them all in the back while others continue to sell.
the main problem stims to the company as a whole. They should have only allowed one title per customer.
Normally yes... but this is a CLEARANCE sale... those games are at a must buy price for a reason. If it were one per customer, it would take much longer to liquidate their inventory. They don't care who buys these games or how many each customer snaps up, they just want them gone.
lol hi im new here...i work at a CC in Springfield, PA
