I remember one thing from high school, and that was getting together Friday nights, ordering some pizza, and playing some great games such as Goldeneye. I have great memories with that game, and probably one of the most fun I had (besides other great party games such as Smash Bros. and Mario Party). I dunno, some might not think Nintendo had a great system back then, but I will always see it as a great party machine. Anyways, back on track, what do you think of Goldeneye coming back?

The first goldeneye sucked, EA's just about as crap as rate, and all 1st person games suck, and this is more proof EA doesn't have an original bone in its body

Goldeneye was developed by Rare. Rare is now owned by microsoft. Get an Xbox and wait for Perfect Dark Zero to come out.

Yeah, Im not about to get excited over a possible remake. I bought an xbox last year for the remake of Conkers Bad Fur Day, still waiting....Christmas 2004 maybe?

No I think the Fat man is on to something. It's not that EA sucks. It's that Bond movies suck. And Bond girls suck too, but in a good way!

I have great memories of Goldeneye for N64, a challenging single player, sweet soundtrack and multi-player was a blast. The main rotation was Mario Kart and Goldeneye at get togethers back in the day. Bond games after that by EA were a waste. What they think they can do that is good is beyond me.

I was thoroughly impressed with the replay value of the game: unlocking all of the cheats, secret areas, and obtaining 007 rank. Unlocking all of the cheats was a bitch, but I did it. I even tried to get the rumored "All Bond" cheat by completing Aztec within 10 minutes with the following prerequisites in 007 mode: Enemy Health on 200%, Enemy Damage at 100%, Enemy Accuracy at 100%, and Enemy Reaction Speed at 100%. I also loved the fact that there were so many easter eggs in the game. Mixing weapons? It was fun as hell when you equipped a laser and your watch laser. Ah, good times.

Btw, I'd own all of you. As a matter of fact, I can take on 3 by myself without much trouble. Who's up for hosting a Goldeneye tourney?

um, yeah, I want to play Goldeneye with someone who is so good they could snipe me 10 times in 2 minutes. Yeah, that sounds like fun!

Um, no. Any weapon, any mode, any time. Bring it.

its just a name, its not being made by the same people as the 64 classic. its being made by the people behind everything or nothing. it better not be in third person.

No shit. Just because they're taking the Goldeneye movie and making a game out of it... I will not say *another* game because they haven't made a game out of Goldeneye yet...

Honestly, every Bond game that EA has made has sucked serious ass. Agent Under Fire was a disaster, same with Nightfire. Honestly the only good thing that has come out of that company is Battlefield 1942. Everything else is just shit.

Well seeing as the Bond game franchise has been riding the wave of Goldeneye's success for the last five years I am not surprised. Every new Bond game promises to be the "next Goldeneye" or better than Goldeneye. I wish EA would just realize that it wasn't the Bond Liscence but the gameplay and devolopers who made it great. I have already seen many games that are the next best thing since Goldeneye (Timespitters 2) and they didn't need the 007 name. I'm sure a Goldeneye would sell huge just by the name, whether or not its a good game.

I have very fond memories of playing this for an obscene amount of hours with friends as well.

Every bond game up to EON has sucked(from EA I mean). from the reviews though I may give this one a chance.

The last three Bond movies have sucked, so returning to the last good bond movie makes perfect sense. Maybe it will not be a FPS and more like EON

The part of Rare responsible for Goldeneye left after Perfect Dark and formed a new company (name escapes me at the moment) and they later produced Time Splitters. I think EA swallowed the company in question, and this "remake" will end up being TimeSplitters 2.5: Goldeneye or TimeSplitters 3.5:Goldeneye (depending on when the game is release).

Either way, when I'm desperate for Goldeneye, I'll just turn on the N64 version.

EA.

Nuff said. They simply don't know how to use the Bond license.

FYI, Terrible, they didn't absorb Free Radical, and I hope to god this game isn't TS 2.5, as that's no better than the next 007: Generic Title by EA.

MOHAA > BF1942
With the Bond license, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Marvel, and now Catwoman, when will it end EA?
LOTR is one of the best licensed games. ever.

All I want in this new game is the Compelx; if it has that, then I'll be happy as hell. :)

You guys must be on crack or something, because Everything or Nothing is one hell of a good game if you have spent time playing it, and if u want challenge then play it on 00 agent and im sure u'll agree. Sure all the other bond games blew by EA, but they've finally "perfected the bond formula" *stated by IGN*. In my opinion its better than Golden Eye and many reviews have given it good marks, while many other say its either up to par with Golden Eye or better. And it is developed by EA. EA isn't a bad company. Stop the bashing the company.
EA is the worst company, goldeneye sucks,a nd so does IGN.
why does everyone diss EA. They try to make money and succeed, if EA truely sucked then they would have gone bankrupt after Hawkins left. Instead EA has flourished since the early 90's and become such a giant that what platform they make games for makes or breaks a system.

Also they have a very diverse line-up of games so to imply that they suck in unjustified and idiotic. Does this mean Will Wright sucks because he works for a subsidary of EA?

Without EA sports on consoles would not be where it is today, Real Time Strategy games, MMO's, online shooters, would all have come along at a slower pace.

First, thanks Solinari for correcting me. I thought they absorbed it around the same time they did away with Westwood but I guess I was mistaken.

I can't speak for the quality of EA games, as they generally don't produce anything I want to play. However, my gripe is they tend to swallow companies, gut the employees and use the name. They've done it with Westwood and Bullfrog specifically. Its business, I realize, but it still feels sorta sleezy to me.

that's a pretty good reason to hate them

the sports games suck, and the sports games audience sucks.
Your cracking me up.
This is a great laugh after a sucky day.

Anyway i do agree and tend not to play the sports titles. If I want to play football.... I go play football. The sims suck also.

Although EA is rocking and making tons of money. Just think if they decided to make their own system....

Wow, I was just thinking about that the other day. It would be the only console with Madden and all of their sports franchises. That alone would guarantee sales. Plus it would have several other franchises that have a lot of mainstream popularity, such as Need for Speed, LOTR, and the Bond games.

haha, i think imma get trashed for saying this... but i like nightfire. it's not comparable to goldeneye, but me and my friend were playing 2 player vs. bots for a few hours and i thought it was worth the 15 bucks i paid. :)

i would like to see an online goldeneye 64 so all the talk can be backed up (the way the pc has been for years) goldeneye was a good game at a great time (the 1st great console multiplayer fps) and for people fortunate enough to have 3 friends also into the game, one of the best games not only, of that era, but any gaming era, since then people at rare have left (some for timesplitters waters), rare has left nintendo and all ea has is the license

to be honest, i already thought the ea bond games were pretty much sequels/inheritors for the throne of goldeneye, calling it goldeneye or basing it on the movie misses the point of what made the original great, this isnt madden
