The Sims 2 $7.99
http://www.consumerdepot.com/products.asp?id=SIMS2DVDPCR

Game is "New/Open Box" and is "Sold AS IS: no warranty"
The shipping with FedEx Saver is $7.50, so total would be $15.49 for the game.

Here are a few other games that I ordered. The prices are great and shipping is significantly less for each item added after the first one. Here's what I got:

Need for Speed Underground $0.99
http://www.consumerdepot.com/products.asp?id=NEEDFORSPEEDR
For only a dollar, why not?

Medal of Honor Pacific Assault $3.99
http://www.consumerdepot.com/products.asp?id=MOHPACIFICR
Any Medal of Honor game is worth at least $4!

[edit2: added other games, links]

I have a few questions though, about both the game and the website.

I've seen this website listed a few times around here the past few days (PS2, HL2, WOW, etc.), but does anyone have any firsthand knowledge of Consumer Depot? Are they trustworthy?

Is the Sims 2 similar to HL2 in that a used copy of the game is relatively useless? Do I need to worry about buying a used copy of the game (anything beyond the normal used game buying concerns)? Pretty much, if the game does come to me no problem, do i have to worry about it being used or invalid or anything like that?

Thanks in advance and feel free to take advantage of the deal!

Sims 2 comes with a CD key that isn't needed to play the game, but is needed to register on the Sims 2 website. Without a valid, unused key, you can't download the assorted extras that Maxis has made available (new items and skins, mostly.) For the most part, this isn't a HUGE deal - you can easily live without the extra items, and they're usually available to download from less-reputable sites (read: warez) anyway. Still, if you want everything the game offers legitimately, be aware that this is a likely problem.

Thanks Drocket. Huge help. Does this extra content include things like patches and the like?

No, the patch for the game is freely available. Its only the 'extra feature'-type things that are locked up, requiring a valid CD code to download.

Also at any time you install an add on pack, You will get a CD Key and it can be used to register online (I believe).

My fiance had SIMS 2 (DVD) given to her by my sister (who already registered the game) but after she added SIMS 2 University, She registered online and get access (or at least I think she did.)

When you purchase a used Maxis game and try to register it, it will deny you access, all you have to do is contact Maxis support via their website and let them know you purchased the item used. They may ask for a scan of the reciept (as they did for me) and your reg code. Thats it. They remove the previous registration and allow you to register.

Great news guys! Thanks for the info. My wife has been wanting this game pretty bad and I'm actually a bit curious too. I'll probably check it out now and let you know how it goes.

According to resellerratings.com, Consumer Depot has an overall rating of 8.4/10

So I would assume that they're trustworthy enough.

I tried ordering a copyearler today for my brother, and it said that my debit card was denied, despite the fact that I've used it to order stuff online dozens of times.

Well... nice about the price drop. I don't know why the link isn't working at the top, I'll try editing it to see if it works again.

As tempting as it is...I don't need to play the game just yet, and the shipping doubling the price kind of kills it for me.

Must play my copies of GTA3 and Morrowind first. :)

I ordered the Sims 2 DVD from consumerdepot a couple of weeks ago. I received it with no problems. Box was open but complete. About a week before I actually ordered it the price was 9.99. I procrastinated about a week and went back to the site and Sims 2 DVD was only .99 cents so I ordered it then. If your not in a tremendous hurry I would check the site everyday as the prices fluctuate. I would of ordered a couple but it wouldn't let me. GoodLuck. SS

Well it's nice to know the deal actually worked out for someone. I heard about the $0.99 price point a while ago, so I'm check it just about every day. Hopefully i'll get lucky as well!

Just wanted to say I got the game. The game box was a little beat up, but everything inside was in perfect condition. I also registered the game with no problem. This really is an excellent deal.

Ordered mine tonight. Got Sims 2 DVD($7.99), Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault($4.99), and Need For Speed Underground($0.99).
Grand total (with FedEx 3day Shipping): $23.47

Not too bad. Not bad at all.

UPDATE: The games all arrived a few days ago and work beautifully. The boxes they came in were rather beat up. The packaging rated a D+ at best (they took a FedEx bubble envelope and turned it inside out and used it like that), but it still got to me in one piece. The prices are still current as of this morning, so if you're still considering it, this worked out well for me!
