Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to www.schworak.com/upc/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Checked Target at White Plains, NY. There were lots of GH-type games for GC/PS2/XB for $19.99, and a few craptastic titles for PS2 which were labeled $14.98. There was only one game for less than that, Fusion Frenzy for Xbox at $4.98, which I got. What I was really hoping to find was a cheap-ass copy of Dynasty Warriors 4. They had the game behind the glass display case, but it was labeled $49.99. I tried to talk the clerk into getting it out and price checking it, but he seemed convinced that it really was fifty bucks and didn't seem to want to get it out and check. Now I wish I hadn't backed off...I can't stop wondering if I missed out! :?
Was alien vs Preditor also on clearence (xbox) because it too had 29.99 price on it and i remeber something about that game being really cheap...
Nope, checked AvP for XBox today at Target. It rang up 29.99. KB had it for $10 when their sale was going on so that's probably what you're thinking about.

Target had the PS2 version of AvP on clearance a few months back, so that could be what he was thinking of.
I just got back from the Super Target in Cedar Park, and I was able to get Ape Escape 2 for $4.38 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein(PS2) for $6.58. They had only 2 copies of RTCW left, but they had at least 40 copies of Ape Escape 2, I'm not kidding. Thought I'd give the Austin people the heads up.
Thanks for the tip, just picked up Ape Escape 2 over there tonight.
I hit the other 3 Targets I knew about in Austin: I-35 & Parmer, Ben White, and Oak Hill, and the only thing I found was Mace Griffin at the Oak Hill Target. They had 3 copies, but after I left, the clerk looked like he was taking them out of the case for either himself or moving them. I got it for 4.98 by the way. Good luck...I'm still pissed I haven't found Chaos Legion yet though.
I'm pretty sure he wasn't keeping Mace Griffin for himself. I mean... come on. Seriously. Mace Griffin?

San Marcos Target had several Chaos Legions last time I was there. They were marked 30 and ringing up 20.

I hate when they refuse to price check, especially when there is no one else around who can do it. Recently I had to argue with the employee, because he insisted that if it says $49.99 on the shelf in front of the game, then it is $49.99. I finally convinced him that, since the shelf tag had "Conflict 2" written on it, there might just be a slim chance that it wasn't the price for Arc the Lad (which turned out to be $15, and I bought it. I know some of you have had luck finding it cheaper, but my Targets suck at clearancing games).

You should have done 1 of two things.
1.) Said you wanted to buy the game, then when he scanned it and if it was'nt the price you was expecting tell him you changed your mind.

2.) Tell him you wanted to speak to the manager, and if the manager refused to do the price check then ask him for his name then ask for the phone # to corparate.

NEVER backdown from these lazy ass employees.

I picked up a few games recently

Super Monkey Ball 2 $7.48
Clock Tower 3 $4.98
Kya $7.48
Crazy Taxi 3 $16.99

Oh, this was at Foster City, CA and Redwood City, CA

I picked up Wild Arms 3 for $7.48, but it was the last one and I'm guessing very few Targets still have them in. The barcode had been punched for some reason, though the game was still wrapped tight... (Maybe a vendor copy?) They had to figure out what the bar code was by randomly entering numbers for the punched number until the name popped up...

Locations people, locations. This isn't the BRAGGING forum. Please list your locations because we all know that Target clearance deals vary with location!

Thanks!

First of all who else has noticed that the elctronics section is totaly neglected! I have been to about 20 stores and all but like 2 I had to jump hoops to get anyone back there!
Anyway...in response to the guy that had problems getting the price check I just wanted to say that the making them think you will buy it is the greatest way, but when I go in and ask to see like 5 to 10 games I get the employee back there and look them in the eye and tell them like it is..."Alright I need to see these games and when you pull them this is going to be what they ring up at, but if your store isn't as uptodate as the other target stores then I am not going to want them so only pull one at a time and if the price is what it should be I will take them all!" They then look at me like I am crazy and tell me that there is no way I am right and that they garuantee it won't be like that (but they do it cause they want to prove this cocky little jerk wrong)....I then just tell them to humor me...so they do at which point they start freaking asking me how I knew that...at which point I tell them how messed up there store is! ~ I also have another unrude method, but this one is more fun cause I have run into sooooo many rude target employee's that I just took their attitude and put back at them! ~ The other way is be nice and just let them run you over a little bt, "Ummm, can you help me for a sec, would you mind humoring me for a sec?" they say yes at which point then they have to, "yeah my friend was in here the other day and got that game right there less then what it's marked and I was just wondering if you could do a quick price check on it to see if he was telling me the truth." Sir that's the price marked so I'm sure that's what it is..."well yea, but I am sure he wouldn't lie so could you check it out for me please" they do and find my "friend" didn't lie at which point I say well then he said these games should be lower also and I get all the games pulled that I want...adding a few eachtime to check!

I have had the same problem with employees refusing to check the price on an item in the case because they "know for sure" the sticker price is right.

Now, I just say I am interested in the item and AFTER they take the item out of the case and take it to the register in the electronics section I ask for a price check. Once they already have the item out of the case, I haven't had a problem getting any price checks.

I looked up on Target's website where the other Targets were in Austin, and I ended up going to the one on I-35 just south I-35 and 183, it's in Capital Plaza. I went there and got there last copy of Kya for $7.48, a copy of X2:Wolverine's Revenge (ps2)for $7.48, and the last 2 copies of Dynasty Warriors 4 for XBOX for $7.48 a piece. Sorry I took the last 2 but my friend asked me to pick him up a copy if I saw it. As for X2, there were at least 4 copies left and it's not a bad deal at all for $7.48. Still no Chaos Legion though. And about going to San Marcos, I would rather check the other Targets around Austin to try and find a copy of it for $10 than waste gas to drive to to San Marcos AND pay $20 for it. Keep in mind I live in Northwest Austin, so it would take me at least 30 minutes to even get out of Austin. Sorry, went on a little rant there. Once again, just giving the heads up to fellow Austin CAGers. Almost forgot I also saw Mace Griffin, Ape Escape 2, and Starsky & Hutch at this Target.

Damn all the non-NorCal targets with their "under $5 Ape Escape 2 and Arc the Lad deals. You think you could at least find a copy of Mace Griffin up here, but nope, got absolutely nothing except ridiculous gas prices.

Pittsburgh, PA - Waterfront. Picked up Twisted Metal Black for $4.98. There weren't any more copies left, though, and no Crazy Taxi.

As soon as I read about a deal at target from this site. The games dissappear when I just had seen them there days before.Any live in MIAMI and know a target with some clearance games left???

Charlotte, NC

Hulk GC $7.48
NBA Sreet Vol 2 GC $ 9.98
Tiger Woods 2003 GC $9.98
Hitman 2 GC $12.48

For those living in the DFW area, the Mansfield store has about 20 copies of Ape Escape 2 for $4.98

It was marked $9.98, so I ask the clerk "Hey I saw this for $4.98 at another Target but didn't get it and now they don't have it. Could you check and see if your price matches thiers."

Sales Clerk: "Not all Targets are the same. The price is what it is marked."

"Could you check"

Sales Clerk rolls his eyes and checks.

Ape Escape 2 Marked: $9.98

Ape Escape 2 Scanned: $4.98

Owned look on smart ass employee: priceless

I LOVE pwning employees of stores, my Circuit City is the best for doing that, at least during the clearence sale it was. haha.

I'll be going to Target tomorrow, last time they had loads of Fusion Frenzy, This time I have money to get one :)

Yeah, that Fuzion Frenzy is a tricky one cause only about 1 out of every 5 targets I have been to have it for 4.98....all the others are still up there at 19.98!

Will these games scan at these prices everywhere? Ive been thinking of going to target and asking them to get some games out of the glass case becuase they are not in the clearance section (Pikmin ,etc). If they are not clearanced priced becuase they are not in the clearance section then it would be useless for me to do that. however if the markdowns are effective in most places and they haven't gotten around to moving them to the clearance section yet..........

Hey, first of all, thanks!
Second of all, no the prices are not always the same due to the fact that some targets haven't marked everything down as far, but I would say that across the board all of those games have been marked down to some extent. So yes it would be worth asking for them to get them out of behind the glass case. Don't be afraid to make people do there job of helping the customer....you don't ever have to be overly rude....but just remember that the7y are paid to help you!
Ps. I found Unlimited Saga in some indiana store while I was passing through and it kept ringing up as "illegal item in store" and after this huge ordeal cause she couldn't figure it out she wouldn't let it go for anything less than 7.98....sad times though in comparison to one target that I went to and that happened and the guy just told me to name a price and gave it to me for 3.98 ~ That was for Panzer Dragoon!

Will these games scan at these prices everywhere?
Unfortunately, no. Each Target has the option of when to move items to the various stages of clearance. All of the Targets in my area are usually at least one step behind (double the price). But certainly give it a shot and see, you might get lucky.

Edit: NewFire beat me.

i just picked up

Dayton, OH

Super Monkey Ball 2 $7.50
dynasty Warriors 4 $7.50
Panzer Dragon Orta $6.50

PDO was $50 in the case but he went to scan it and it wasnt even in their system. they said they were suppoesed to send then back or something like that.

Picked up Hitman 2 for $12.48 and Mega Man Network Transmissions for $7.48 today. They also had:

GCN
NBA Live 2003 $9.98
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance $9.98
Star Wars Clone Wars $9.98

XBox
Metal Gear Solid Substance $7.48
MVP Baseball 2003 $14.98
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball $14.98
Indiana Jones (don't remember price)
a few other XBox games

Looks like the new round of clearance games has hit. I was really hoping to find Street Vol. 2 though...

Well, today I went to the Target at I-35 and William Cannon in Austin, and I finally found Chaos Legion for $9.98. When I asked the employee to get it, right behind it was a copy of The Great Escape, which I got for $4.98. I also got one of about 5 copies of Clock Tower 3 that they had. I did get the last copies of Chaos Legion and The Great Escape though, sorry. Anyways thought I would post and let the fellow Austin CAGers know that Clock Tower 3 is at the Target at I-35 and William Cannon.

To be continued when I go to the Target in Bee Caves tomorrow...

Jedi Outcast and NCAA Football 2003 for XBox both went to 14.98 today. Prince of Persia for Gamecube dropped to 29.99. The DDRMax 2 combo game/mat for the PS2 is only 14.98 now.

Bug your awsome thank you so much. I bet that took like a week to do. We all bow down to you o great bug. we are forever in your debt!@ Thanks

Whoa!!!! Prince of Persia dropping, I wonder if thats clearance, temporary or a sign of a price drop. I have been waiting for this for the cube.
