War of The Worlds, that is one fucking movie I dont fucking plan to watch again until its fucking $10 or less on DVD.

That movie was fucking hilarious. From the fucking people getting destroyed at the beginning with the lasers (looked EXTREMLEY fucking fake too) and them harvesting fucking human organs and blood.
Humans sure were fucked in that movie. I still cant fucking believe that the whole U.S. army couldnt take one of those fucking things down yet fucking Tom Cruise could. Well of course fucking Tom Cruise could because he is fucking Tom Cruise.
Then that fucking Dakota Fanning was so damn fucking annoying screaming every other minute. If I was fucking there I would have thrown her fucking ass out the car window and let her fucking die.

All in all this was a pretty fucking okay movie.

I give it: 6 fuck's / 8 1/2 fuck's

That's a lot fucking higher than I'd give it.
That's a lot fucking higher than I'd give it.
Yes, but there were tons of fucking people dying so thats why it gets a higher score.

It was just that funny...Like the ferry part :D
OH if there was ever a comment that deserved a banning that's it right there.

I'm pretty sure if they ever did create an offspring it would make hitler blush.
But it still wouldn't be as evil as...

Rosie Lee O'Streisand-Winfrey!

Easily the worst fucking movie of the entire fucking summer blockbuster season. Bunch of fuckers made that movie. I was absolutely livid by the time I walked out of the theater.

minor spoiler

Anyone else think that the end sequence was a blatant ripoff of Half-Life 2?

fuck your 1000 posts, that's worthy of an asswhoopin.

I thought it was fucking bad in general so I wouldnt say it was a ripoff since the ending sucked. Tom Cruise didnt die which made me fucking sad.

There have definatley been worse movies out this fucking summer though...

What really pissed me off is that none of the reviewers would say anything bad about it cause they all wanted to kiss spielberg's ass. I mean he made one of my favorite movies of all time (jurassic park) but that doesn't mean he's immune to making a crappy movie every now and then.

Spielberg hasnt made any of my favorite movies.

He is WAY overrated.
Which part?
Walkers, rocket launchers, bombed out city... looked exactly like one of the last sequences in half-life 2

How can you not like E.T.? How can anyone not like E.T.?
How can you not like E.T.? How can anyone not like E.T.?
I actually never got all the way through E.T.

Too boring. (and yes I do mean that).

E.T. go home and stay the fuck away from mine.
How can you not like E.T.? How can anyone not like E.T.?
E.T. Can shove that finger right up his War of the Worlds for all I care...
How can you not like E.T.? How can anyone not like E.T.?
E.T. was one of those movies that never really aged well, flight of the navigator now there is a classic.:D
Walkers, rocket launchers, bombed out city... looked exactly like one of the last sequences in half-life 2
Well, truth be told, it's more like the sequences in HL2 are from war of the worlds. Remember, HG Well's story came out first. Plus there's also some nods to the older 60s version of War of the Worlds (particularly the bombed city look and the capture sequence).

When it comes to War of the Worlds, the phrase "to be fair" does not apply.

you guys should listen to the Orson Welles version if you have not. Its pretty cool, especially for something close to seventy years old.

I have that on LP.

Empire of the Sun? E.T.? (Okay, we covered that) Schindler's List? Saving Private Ryan? Close Encounters of the Third Kind? Jaws? Raiders of the Lost Ark? Duel?

Can't wait to hear some patented Whoknows reviews
When it comes to War of the Worlds, the phrase "to be fair" does not apply.
If you're referring to the story itself then yeah, it's totally one sided. But I don't know how else it could be one sided. The story closely followed HG Wells story so if there's anything to blame besides the cinematography/cast, then blame HG Wells not Spielberg.
Duel?
A highly underrated film, with great camera angles, a sense of urgency, and a very comfortable length. Who doesnt love silent credits?
you guys should listen to the Orson Welles version if you have not. Its pretty cool, especially for something close to seventy years old.
I've got a tape of it, it's very cool. Orson Welles did such a great job of making it sound like the world was being attacked by aliens. And you have to love the fact that following the listening public freaking out, police were sent in to tell him to stop broadcasting, and he basically told them to fuck off

shit no...HG wells novel is much different than the movie...blame speilberg

Duel was a fucking piece of shit. One of the WORST movies I have ever fucking seen. Me and my dad were fucking laughing most of the time. Calling that fucking thing a movie is a fucking overstatement. That fucking moron that plays the main character jumping around at the fucking end after the fucking semi goes off the end of the road and crashed. What a fucking waste of time. As I said before its good if you need a fucking laugh.

As for the others I did like Indiana Jones...but thats about it.
I think we can officially declare that whoknows has poor taste in movies. You probably hate Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I don't like Monty Python and I wouldn't say I have bad taste in movies.
But you're probably right. :D

Empire- never saw it.

E.T.- awesome

Schindler's List- I know it was supposed to be black and white, but that is the only thing keeping it off the list of my favorite movies

Saving Private Ryan- never saw it

Close Encoutners- I can only remember snippets, like when the space ship does the color/sound thing

Jaws- classic

Raiders of the Lost Arc- That was Spielberg?

Duel- never saw it

Jurrasic Park- good for its time. I don't really like it anymore
shit no...HG wells novel is much different than the movie...blame speilberg
I don't think it's too different. The essence of the story is the same. Chronological edits have to be made to give it more believability in this age of instant information but the characters and their motivations in the story are essentiall the same. Remember, this story was done back in 1930something. We've had some more new advances since then - military weaponry, medical breakthroughs, telecommunications, etc. If they were going to do it in a modern setting some things have to be sacrificed to keep the flow of the movie.

I would say wihtout hesitation that Spielberg is perhaps the most over-rated American director of our time. Most of the above mentioned movies are, to be quite honest, boring as hell. Yes, even Jaws.
I think we can officially declare that whoknows has poor taste in movies. You probably hate Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Nope, that movie is pretty awesome.

And I dont have poor tastes, I just dont like thinking when I watch a movie :D

Actually I meant that I'm so pissed at how crappy it was that I don't care if I'm fair in my criticism or not.
If you think that Spielberg movies make you think, I'm frightened
A Spielberg movie does make me think, not about the movie though, but more about what I could/should be doing instead of watching it...like sleeping or eating :D

Man you must've seen different movies than I. I enjoyed all of them and empire of the sun also features a young Christian Bale in his element.

Hmm....I'm not really sure if I put this in/posted this in last night's awesome OTT/in my gigantic post, but I finally managed to find a Battle Royale I & II on DVD at the Con. So now I no longer have to see it on my computer. Yay!

I also forgot to mention that while I was at the Aeon Flux booth/Paramount booth, I saw that there was a petition to get Duckman onto DVD. By the end of the Con (I left somewhat early so there could have been more), but there was at least 15-20 pages filled on it, so there still may be hope out there for us fans of the series.

My reporting skills aren't that great it seems, since there's a lot that I forget to mention. I definitely forgot to say yesterday that for us Aeon Flux fans out there, that they are going to release an Aeon Flux DVD Complete Collection with a ton of extras, the shorts, etc. I one for one am thrilled and will be even willing to get it for MSRP (yes very un-CAGlike). I missed out on when they first released it on DVD.

I also forgot to mention that I got to meet the creator of the psuedo spin-off of Aeon Flux, the guy that did The Maxx, and a whole slew of Star Wars actors from Peter Mayhew to Ray Park, to the guy that did R2D2 (name isn't coming), and the lady that was the Twillek in the fight scenes in Episode 1 and 2 (can't think of her name either). They were signing pictures of themselves for a fee, so I passed but I did get to chat it up with them. Oh and Star Wars Battlefield 2 is awesome and multiplayer in it is better than ever.

well in terms of times and stuff...but the way it was written is much different than the fast-paced, noisy, eruption of the movie. I recomend the book, definetly Well's best, although I only read half of "The Time Machine"

I don't know what movies you've been watching but nearly all of Spielberg's films are magical or better than most directors. Schindler's List is nearly my number one on my list of all time great movies. That movie makes me cry every time I watch it. Saddest thing I've ever seen ever.

Actually, I kinda envisioned it similiar to Spielberg's... maybe I just read fast. Anyway, if you have a tough time with the Time Machine, then you don't wanna check out The Time Ships by Stephen Baxter. It's a pseudo sequel to HG Well's story and explains how he got the Platternite in the first place.
