Damnit... they've taken their dispute offline... or at least off CAG

I see you teddybears later!

Wow, the things that happen when I run off to a meeting.

That's a very funny exchange to come back to..... for people that didn't want it made public. :D

so true
I'm glad Jonathan and I are over fighting about cleaning.
So then, he's your maid now?
See, that I don't get. I can't stand a filthy house. If it weren't socially inacceptable and impolite, I'd start cleaning in other people's houses if I saw, say, a bowl of chili on the counter with mold growing in it.
I'm the same way, though sometimes I'll do it anyway, despite the impoliteness of it all. I'll also alphabetize other peoples DVDs etc.

Who's that comin' from somewhere up in the sky?
Moving fast and bright as a firefly
Just when you think the trouble's gonna pounce
Who's gonna be there when it really counts?
Do the Care Bear Countdown
And send a wish out through the air
Just do the Care Bear Countdown
When you need them they'll be there
Don't be afraid when trouble's brewin' in your heart
If you can dream just send a wish out in the dark
And do the Care Bear's Countdown 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

I really don't care about it being public or not...

It may sound bad that I 'don't help' but I tend to clean up my messes as I make them. I watch the movie, put it back. Take the last X throw the container away.

She has a habit of leaving boxes in the fridge/freezer, food on tables, wrappers on the table over the garbage instead of actually in the garbage 6 inches lower.

Hmm. Which to go with that... hmmm, cloying sycophant, or annoying jerk? Hrmm.

. . . god forbid you think unwavering love.
. . . god forbid you think unwavering love.
Well, that would refer to Johnathan.

I was considering whether I should be answering more in the vien of a cloying sycophant or an annoying jerk. The correct answer is probably somewhere in the middle.

Eww... I watched The Butterfly Effect last night on HBO. It was the first time I had seen the original ending. Man, that ending sucked. It turned a good movie into a mediocre one. The DVD ending is much better.

yes, I was giving you, the correct response you should go with :hint, hint, nudge nudge:

Hey everyone.

I apologize for my ignorance in advance, however this may prove to be and interesting discussion/debate.

I was curious as to what an OTT is and what it stands for. Seems to be a chat thread. What does OTT stand for? Off Topic Talk? Over the Top? Orangey Tang Taste?

Now the debatable part...what are the rules? Don't want to step on any toes here. What I've gathered so far is, at around 500 posts the thread gets locked and someone gets to make a new OTT thread. Do you have to have a purpose to the name of the thread or a picture? Also, there seems to be a divide on whether it's common courtesy to start two OTT's in a row (cough, cough, Scorch).

Oh and before anyone tells me to use a search function to find these answers, I've tried. Anything with OTT in the search function brings up too many threads and it won't search for it.

1. It's Off-topic-topic
2. Rules? Well... hmm, yes it is common courtesy to let someone else make the next OTT if you just made one. And the OTT is locked after 500 posts (usually the last 10 or so is deciding who will make the next)
3. The title and picture is really just a random thing created by the OP.

Welcome and enjoy.

Ah, yes. I'd imagine there would be much confusion otherwise. I read that dispute the other day when two were opened at the same time.

Also, the first rule of the OTT is you don't talk about the OTT.

Second rule of the OTT is you don't talk about the OTT.

Anyone think it odd that everyones against pirating games and movies, a lot of people are against pirating music... but nobody really gives a fuck about anime?
Anyone think it odd that everyones against pirating games and movies, a lot of people are against pirating music... but nobody really gives a fuck about anime?
I never noticed that but maybe because a while back anime was not so easily accesible so in order for people to enjoy it, the only way was to pirate a copy that a friend had. And now they just have not changed their ways.
Up next "Scorch is still Tiphireth's bitch OTT".
Did you and PAD have a little falling out and he banished you to the OTT?
Hmm. Which to go with that... hmmm, cloying sycophant, or annoying jerk? Hrmm.
What, this is a "flip the coin, heads sycophant, tails jerk" kind of decision?

I'm against it in all its forms, though getting on a soapbox around here is a pointless prospect.
Anyone think it odd that everyones against pirating games and movies, a lot of people are against pirating music... but nobody really gives a fuck about anime?
Because anime costs over $30 for a single DVD with 3 episodes on it.
Anyone think it odd that everyones against pirating games and movies, a lot of people are against pirating music... but nobody really gives a fuck about anime?
Probably since anime is usually 20$ for 3 episodes :D

EDIT: Crap! Beaten by Quackzilla!

Well the main concern with anime would be, what if it's never licensed, for example Full Moon wo Sagashite. It's a really good anime, but if I didn't go off and download the fansubs, I'd never have seen it.
Alot of the companies are cracking down on it now, because it's cutting into sales. Maybe a year or two ago, fansubs were a great way to get the word out and interest in certain animes. Now more and more companies are going after fansub groups, including japanese companies.
Maybe if companies lowered their damn prices on anime, there would be less downloading. I buy alot of preowned anime, cause otherwise it's too expensive.

The way I see it downloading anime is fine until it gets a proper US release.

But the raping and the pillaging... I obviously haven't corrupted you enough.

OTT actually stands for "On Three Tomatoes"

Because in the beginning, there was a lot of balancing and juggling, and secondarily, a big debate about whether tomatoes are fruits or vegetables.

forEven a lot of PO anime is too rich for my blood. Why would I want to pay $15-20 a used copy of a poorly dubbed version when I could DL the original version for free?

I bought a bunch of pre-owned anime during the Gamestop 3 for 2 sale. Most of their used stuff is 9.99-12.99. $24 for 3 DVDS. I even got lucky and found FMA DVD 3, which I wouldve otherwise bought from DDD
But the raping and the pillaging... I obviously haven't corrupted you enough.
And you...

Jose!

Jose! Together we... we... uh...

Burned and pilleaged many small villeages

Yea!

And raped the horses!

Yea!

And rode off on the women!

Yea! ... And...?

Pruned... the hedges?

.... WHO THE fuck ARE YOU?

I usually get preowned for 8 or less.
Also I prefer dub usually. And the great thing about DVDs is you can select either dubbed or subbed. Also it's usually higher quality. I like watching it on the big tv.

Don't get me wrong I download anime too. Not like Jonathan who has 4- 250+ CD holders full of anime.

You're more than welcome to try.

Lawful good? That might a bit of a reach. :whistle2:s

Chaotic good or neutral good, maybe. :D

Well I just scheduled my credit card payments online. I'll be down to $60 in my checking account once they all go though, and I just deposited my check yesterday.

Paladins must be lawful good. Otherwise you lose you paladin powers.

What, this is a "flip the coin, heads sycophant, tails jerk" kind of decision?

Yeah, pretty much.

I'm against it in all its forms, though getting on a soapbox around here is a pointless prospect.

Perhaps, thought that's yet to stop me

Kind of reminds me of a few years ago when there was a site called Fucinet. It hosted a great deal of excellent cartoons such as Family Guy after it was cancelled and there was no DVD release in sight. They also had shows like Futurama and Space Ghost, when they weren't making new ones. And for situations like Family Guy, FOX screwed up the scheduling so much on that one it was impossible to see some episodes. But pretty much everyone there was in agreement that if there were dvds of these shows, that they would own them.

However, on the site, it even said that the intent was not to take money away from the shows, but rather to give people an opportunity to see shows that are impossible to see otherwise. They even had a link to the online petition that helped get the Family Guy dvd moving along.

It was eventually shut down by Turner Broadcasting though, and had to move to an mIRC.

So, in short (too late), like I was saying before, if there is no other available medium, like easily accessible dvds, I don't mind it so much. Until, of course, there is a dvd release.

EDIT: This was in reference to the pirated anime talk. Just took me too damn long to write it.
