With blessings from the big man himself...

The Toys R US clearance deals, much like the Target ones, are very YMMV. As a result of that - and the fact that the board is currently littered with TRU clearance sales - it's time to try something new.

The CAG Toys R Us Clearance Thread

The goal is to have this thread modeled after the current Target clearance thread (and its predecessor), so the basic rules are the same...

When posting what you have found, please note the location that you found it at, example:

Philadelphia, PA
Snyder Plaza

Game Name, System, Price

-----
This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

-----
If you hunt around through the forums and look for posts by tubtub and benboxer (our resident TRU folk), they've said that any TRU price ending in .98 can be a "variable" price, where one store has it for 5.98, while another has it for 7.98 and another for 3.98. The .98 is a "regional" price, for lack of a better term. Anything ending in .95 and .99 are chain-wide, from what I've seen from them.
That should do it for the first post. Good luck, everyone!
zebra, have you seen ANYTHING at ANY of the OKC toysrus? i have looked and looked and haven't found jack at quail, crossroads or norman....

any other local deals you know of? was able to pick up three 1.99 games at circuit city a few weeks ago but haven't found anymore there...
Whoops. Edited my post to fit the thread subject. See above.

There were some Hitman 2, Mafia, and Max Payne jewel case versions (for PC) at the Quail Target for $2.48.

I found one $2 Circuit City game, a copy of NHL Hitz Pro at the south-side store off I-240. Everything else at Circuit City has the value tag stickers. Btw, what did you manage to find, and where?

Otherwise...kind of slim pickings. The Best Buy on May has a bin of clearance games, and they have'nt given me very much trouble taking the $5 off ps2/psp coupon.

The clearance games that they have is just a bin of (mostly ps2) $20 games they are getting rid of to clear some floor space. That said, there have been several games there for less than $20; Metal Arms, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution, Beyond Good & Evil, Conflict: Desert Storm, and Smuggler's Run are all $5 after the $5 off ps2/psp coupon.

actually stopped in there at lunch today and didn't see anything that jumped out at me
Onimusha 3 is 15 at TRU. I got for 12 after the 20% coupon.
But, these were going for $7.50 during a blue-light . . . I bought this 2 months ago.

EDIT: Oops, my bad, I assumed you meant Kmart because of the thread . . .

I'm not sure if this has been said yet, but I went to my TRU today and they had another 90% off sale on green tagged items. Unfortunatly, my TRU only had two games, which was a copy of NFL2K1 and NFL2K2 for DC, along with some calculator looking thing. I looked around and didn't see any other green tagged items either. You guys may wana check into it though, you're stores may have better stuff.

From the Target thread:

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to www.schworak.com/upc/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target(TRU in this case) and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!
So are all these cheap games still part of the last greentag?

And the new one starts in June, right? Or is it July?
I was told July by the employee I know there.

To that, all I have to say is don't get your hopes too high.

Well, I know the employee personally, and he's very up to date on all the price drops, green tags, and everything else that goes on in his dept.

It wasn't just some random TRU employee :p

The last one started in late July/early August.

I wonder what they are going to sell for the new green tag sale? Most likely the stuff they couldn't sell at the last greentag sale and some crappy games like Triggerman (which they still have alot of at my store)

I don't think that there really is any games left from teh last green tag sale. Nearly any, 98% or so, store has been sold out of them since they were progressively marked down from 50% off to 70% off to 90% and then many were bought up for free with that crazy TRU coupon for $10 off two games $20 or less. I guess that they'll add games like Triggerman and some others, but really a lot of the inventory has gone or diminished. Also, thanks to a lot of great coupons that they've had, like the $10 off 50 and 20% off coupon, a lot of the good stuff is gone. They're not stacked to brim like they were prior to the last sale so I'm doubtful there'll be another and so soon. But here's hoping

Well to be honest his sources have to be shakey at best...I'm practically in charge of the R-Zone I work in and there has been nothing in the email and nothing on the stores Intranet which I peruse all the time.

The only reason there was a Green tag sale in the first place was because they wanted to clear room on the shelves for PSP software and accessories. Perhaps they will do this for XBox titles to make room for 360 titles...but not likely since we still carry too many PS1 titles. We'll see though.

Edit: one more thing... since TRU isn't owned/operated by the same people anymore it's a little harder to predict what exactly will happen.

The last green tag sale. I heard they had it cause the company felt that they had some merchandise on their shelves for to long and that it would never move so they had a big 50% of sale on everything. to clear out room and probably just break even on some items. but the toy business in general has got to be hard.

Hmm...a bunch of PS1 games just magically appeared at my TRU. Spyro, Spyro 2, Twisted Metal 3 and 4, Syphon Filter, and a couple others. Shame they were de-Green Tagged a couple weeks back.

Sure do wish they'd Green Tag the PS1 LCD screens that also just materialized ($22, at the moment...maybe they'd be included in a new Green/Whatever Tag sale?). I could have some fun with those! :D

Just a heads up... the PS2 8MB Expansion Pak(612858), PS2 Aluminum Case(612866) and PS2 EA Controller and Game case(745734) appear to be coming off clerance June 2, at least at my store(Tucker, GA). Also can any other TRU employee tell me if they've started throwing away Green Tag yet? Its going on at mine.

This sucks, they're actually throwing away the green tags instead of putting them up. Still, here's hoping for a Green Tag sale to come up, but who knows since they were bought out.

Yup, all of those came up as mark-ups today on the price changes for Thursday. The PS2 controllers were never clearanced at my store and are dropping like 5 bucks next week.

Throwing away green tag? Like what? We really don't have anything left other than some crappy guides and crappy magazines.

All we had left was a bunch of crap too, but I did have a stash of green tag computer software I was using with the 10 off 50 coupons. For example I bought WarioWare Twisted and two green tag 9.99 computer games which knocked the price after coupon and associate discount to around $20 bucks. He wanted that software thrown away too.

Just a small heads up. My TRU got the 512 MB Pro Duo sticks today. $79.99...but hopefully coupons and other discounts and what not will knock these babies way down.
My TRU has all their price scanners outside of the RZone area where the games are. Every game is tagged with electronic tags that go off when you try to take a game past the sensors so no way to scan them.

I did see Blood Rayne on sale at my TRU for $3.48 and our green tags in CT are still 70% off.
Lol my TRU uses slips of paper, and you get your game after you pay for it.
New green tag sale starts in July-look at your store calendar on homepage
Yay! :D Can you get more specific?
Lol my TRU uses slips of paper, and you get your game after you pay for it.
 I thought they stopped doing that in the 90's. I remember way back I would always be flipping those NES and SNES tabs up to see the back of boxes when picking out games. Then after my dad paid for the game we had to go to the bullet proof booth to get the game. I think the last time I saw a slip was in like 94/95 in a Las Vegas TRU when I went to get a Gameboy game to play on the plane ride home.

my tru still uses slips, and i hate and love it, b/c they don't update the slips often so that means that a game marked 39.99 could be on clearance for 4.48 (unreal 2 for xbox just happened to be like this), so it saves the deals for all the CAG's but i have to scan everything just to check clearance.

My TRU has a whole bunch of games they just put on sale recently (I saw the new section for the first time last week). In it they have tons of games for $14.99 and below. Some of the better deals (at least they are to me) are the two copies of Timesplitters 2 that I picked up (GC version) for only $9.99 a piece. I also picked up a copy of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun for $9.48 (Xbox version). They had other games too (too many to list), and a few more expensive but marked down games like Klonoa 2 for the GBA for $19.48.
New green tag sale starts in July-look at your store calendar on homepage
What you say!

I picked up a copy of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (xbox) at the Middletown, NY TRU today for $5.48. There were about 3 copies left for any CAGs who might be in the area.

I'll stop by TRU sometime soon to see if the R-Zone cashier I used to work with has any new information.... he just keeps telling me a July sale is coming, green tag stuff will be 30% off, but he dosen't have a list yet.

Woot! Hopefully this pans out and slowly increases from the 30% off to 50 and higher. But still, if I see anything I actually want for 30% off then I might get it. Thanks for all the info guys.
