The Ultimate Warrior's wrestling topic

You mean Kobashi-Joe? Kenta Kobayashi is a completely different guy, who wrestles at KENTA. Dr. Steve-O is a USA show, which leads me to think that like Trump, this is a Universal-mandated crossover. I doubt that it'll result in anywhere near the ratings gains the Trump thing did, but it could result in some incredible fun things (like Umaga and Khali completely destroying the Jackass guys, or Hornswaggle vs. Wee-Man).

Yeah sorry about that. I fixed that. :)
ok, ok...I guess I'm more out of the pop culture loop than Jackass. There's still something about those guys that seems *really* "yesterday's news" about them, and that it makes wrestling look out of touch - like they did with Kevin Federline, or Donald Trump (his reality show was tanking on TV during the Wrestlemania buildup, and they didn't use him when his show was ultra hot).
Let us try to forget the David Arquette cross-over WCW also attempted, as well as, the No Limit Soldiers fiasco. Man that was bad.

Jackass does seem a bit dated, and after how well Steve-o and Pontius behaved as Umaga slammed them on their heads, you've got to wonder why they were considered for this spot at all. WWE is grasping at straws again though, and they need something. Either way, I doubt this is "it".

On the other hand, I'm not sure what really trendy celebrities WWE could bring in right now to boost ratings. Even Kiefer Sutherland lost points for a season of 24 that the internet has almost unanimously dubbed the worst of 24. Maybe they could get Paris Hilton to reprise the Nailz character! Surely that would draw interest from the masses.

There's worse things WWE could do, like kicking off their show tomorrow night with a match between Edge and Cena for the 39203923th time, instead of Lashley vs Cena or even Lashley vs Edge. Oh wait... that IS what they're doing.
Who the hell is Kent Jones?
One of the dumbest TNA marks... no, let me correct that. He is *THE* dumbest TNA mark ever. Just watch the video below.

1. Cena vs. Khali was awesome. It was also one of only three things I've bothered to check out since I stopped watching.

2. I hope the Jackass guys fuck this event up beyond recognition. It's hilarious to see these useless shut-in fans complain that it's "exposing the business" when Steve-O laughs at the offense of the crazy fat Samoan with a bling-bling grill. I'm sure Bradshaw and HHH think that the Jackass guys should "respect the locker room code" or whatever stupid fucking boys club bullshit they live by 24-7, but what the fuck do you expect? These guys are bigger celebrities than all but the topmost wrestlers, and were invited to help the WWE show gain interest, not the other way around. The best part would likely be Bradshaw threatening rape, only to be chased down the hall by one of the Jackass guys, spreading his ass cheeks and yelling "fuck THIS ASS, fuck IT!" or something. What's he going to do, punch him? BFD. They'd probably laugh in his face, too.

Would serve the company right for going along with this asinine idea in the first place.

That TNA last week was fucking amazing... that Storm / Harris match was how you break up a tag team (they were America's Most Wanted, correct?) and have them feud each other.

Even my girlfriend, who has only even seen one other TNA show before (the one where Gail Kim busted Jackie's teeth), was like "Wow, were they tag team partners? It's like they know what the other is thinking at all times" a few minutes before the announcer said it

TNA has really come a long way since last year, imo... I went from not really caring about TNA to, after last week's match, watch it every week.

I might even order Slammiversary =O

But yea, that was match of the year stuff... every match on TNA was awesome, imo, and the old school feel to the segments is good stuff as well, especially Ms. Brooks assaulting Gail Kim in the middle of the interview.

I am shocked more than anything I am actually entertained by women's wrestling, and that it's damn good - WWE can really learn a thing or two about that from TNA.

From WWE.com:

Tonight is Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night on Raw, and WWE.com has learned that the following celebrities and WWE Legends will be offering their comments on the WWE Chairman tonight in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.:
-"Stone Cold" Steve Austin
-Former Minnesota Governor and WWE Hall of Famer Jesse "The Body" Ventura
-Donald Trump
-WWE Hall of Famer "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka
-MTV's Jackass star Steve-O
-WWE Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano
-WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart
-Multi-platinum recording artist Snoop Dogg
-WWE Hall of Famer Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
-"Hardcore Legend" Mick Foley
-WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
-Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban
-WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik
-Legendary sportscaster Bob Costas
-WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes
-WWE Hall of Famer "Mean" Gene Okerlund
To see what these folks have to say about the boss, tune into Raw tonight on USA Network at its special start time of 8/7 CT.

No that's not a miss-print, we're gonna get to hear from WWE's greatest announcers ever tonight in Heenan and Ventura, from our favorite lunatic the Iron Sheik and from Bret Hart! I wonder what Hart could possibly have to say in appreciation of Vince.

Give me a fucking break.

What a waste of time... does Vince really need to pleasure his ego with this shit all over television?

And Bret Hart is like the finishing touches on all of this.

Bret.. Hart.. will be at Raw/on Raw/have a pre-recorded message on Raw!?

I need new pants

I'm pretty excited about Raw. I'm not expecting too much, the draft is usually pretty fun to tune in to see, and I'm going to get to see tons of faces.. from Heenan to Mean Gene, Ventura to Hart, Foley to Snuka!

Hogan's name should be up there though.

/edit: Yeah, I'm expecting them to be old clips as well.

I was looking at the HoF and decided to find some Bobby Heenan clips on Youtube. This lead to a clip of Heenan dropping the F bomb during a Pillman/Guerrero match. I thought it was sad that both wrestlers are now dead.. then I saw the referee. The coolest referee on the f'n planet.

01.jpg

Randy Anderson.

It's sad that he lost his battle with cancer in 2002 :( I used to love watching him on Nitro and his fued with Nick Patrick. He and Earl Hebner are the only two referees that I thought were funny and worth watching.

Honestly, I would not be surprised if Vince did the Conan O'Brien thing with the frozen image and moving mouth with Hart and maybe some of the others on that list.

I'm expecting some of these guys to actually be there. Austin probably will be there, Steve-o I expect to be there to start the Jackass bit, Snuka could be there as he has nothing better to do these days and they like to parade him out ever couple of years, Captain Lou could be there... hopefully dressed up as Mario, Heenan & Okerlund could be there, Foley and Piper will most likely be there, Dusty Rhods will definitely be there, and I really hope the Iron Sheik is there live. Then we'll undoubtedly get pre-recorded messages from Ventura, Trump, Bret Hart, Snoop Dogg, Mark Cuban and Bob Costas.

 at who everyone wants to go to ECW... it reads like a who's who of shitty wrestlers in the WWE.

Cept for Edge and Burke... why the hell do the people who visit wwe.com want Edge to go to ECW? That's stupid.

RVD shouldn't even be a poll choice, unless "leave the company" was an option.

The whole voting for MVP and Orton to go to ECW has me baffled.

Where was the whole, "Quit raping the past and re-bury ECW" option?

That shit's totally fabricated.

I'll probably pass on Raw in favor of playing through the second half of Resident Evil 2 tonight. I'll watch it later on, though, so I can FF through the bullshit.
The whole voting for MVP and Orton to go to ECW has me baffled.

ECW is here to stay for a long time, so it helps to just accept it for what it is.

Sadly, it is possible to make a good wrestling show out of an hour, Vince and creative just have no clue how to do it.
I really hope the Iron Sheik is there live.
PWInsider is reporting that he is indeed backstage.

... as if every other WWE event isn't McMahon Appreciation Night.
That TNA last week was fucking amazing... that Storm / Harris match was how you break up a tag team (they were America's Most Wanted, correct?) and have them feud each other.
Yes they were America's Most Wanted.

Even my girlfriend, who has only even seen one other TNA show before (the one where Gail Kim busted Jackie's teeth), was like "Wow, were they tag team partners? It's like they know what the other is thinking at all times" a few minutes before the announcer said it

Chris Harris and James Storm used to fued against each other along the indy circuit prior to being discovered by TNA. Oddly enough they worked one of the NWA Anniversary shows which was right before TNA launched in 2002. Harris and Storm had a match that night that really impressed a LOT of people enough that TNA got word and brought them in as, of course, America's Most Wanted. AMW's fued with Triple X (Christopher Daniels, Elix Skipper, and Low Ki aka Senshi) is what really made AMW the crown jewel of TNA's tag team division during the early days.

TNA has really come a long way since last year, imo... I went from not really caring about TNA to, after last week's match, watch it every week.

Didn't I tell you a week ago that the Harris vs Storm main event was going to be EPIC! ;)

I might even order Slammiversary =O

So far its shaping up to amazingly be better than Slammiversary 2005 was which to me was fucking EPIC as hell due to:

- Samoa Joe's debut.
- Raven winning the belt.

But yea, that was match of the year stuff... every match on TNA was awesome, imo, and the old school feel to the segments is good stuff as well, especially Ms. Brooks assaulting Gail Kim in the middle of the interview.

Gee I wonder who could of wrote and booked that? :whistle2:k

Vince Russo

I am shocked more than anything I am actually entertained by women's wrestling, and that it's damn good - WWE can really learn a thing or two about that from TNA.

True. If TNA wants to really establish a women's division then they need to talent raid a few people from Shimmer/ROH (namely Lacy).
PWInsider is reporting that he is indeed backstage.
Oh boy! I can see it now...

Vince McMahon, you are another no good $$$$$$ son of a bitch, you are WORSE than Michael Jackson, and you suck Hulk Hogan's penis!

Man this is a great way to start the show. I know everyone here was counting the days until Cena and Edge got in the ring together again.
Man this is a great way to start the show. I know everyone here was counting the days until Cena and Edge got in the ring together again.
Come on, this is the last time in awhile they can feed Edge to war machine that is CENAMANIA!
... as if every other WWE event isn't McMahon Appreciation Night.

Demo, I agree with all those points... sadly, I don't think a three hour RAW will even come close to the greatness that was that hour long TNA.

I bet you Christian's opponent will be Tomko =O

And who is going to be the 5th man to go in, now that Storm and Harris are elimnated? I'm thinking Jarrett, or is he still taking a leave of abscence?

Wow, even better way to begin the night is to end the match with a count out.

And why the hell is Khali going to SD. Send someone like Benjamin over there!

You know, the worst possible way to start this draft is by drafting someone who has been switched between all three brands on a whim in the past year.

You can't forget about them turning the draft into Press Your Luck.

...okay, I'm loving this. Ventura just trashed McMahon. I hope the trend continues!

and THANK GOD for getting Khali off of Raw! I never have to see his ass again!
Because Creative has nothing left for him on RAW after Cena squashed him 2 or 3 times.
