They've only been doing layaway for the deluxe systems, so I've been assuming that they've been saving their basic models for walk up customers on launch day. I doubt you'll find any deluxe models, though.
True, didn't think about that. They would almost assuredly have some basic consoles on launch day, then, I would think.
first most targets are doing 1 per person so you might need three total people.

2nd you can use your card at other targets but not to get a preordered one only to get the giftcard towards a non preorderd one since that store is only holding 5 of each version for the people that preordered there. thats how it works with games but they will be more strict since its a console.

3rd. most likely to prove you preordered at that target to pick it up. my store is
If they all of a sudden require a receipt, they're going to have some pissed off customers. I know I no longer have my receipt. No one said anything about keeping it. My understanding is that they'd match the unique barcode on the back with whatever was scanned at purchase.

I really hope they are truly putting away the consoles and matching up the barcodes on the back of the reservation cards. I really don't feel like standing in line on a Sunday morning only to find out that they gave away my pre-order.

There is no unique barcode on those cards. Why wouldnt you just keep your card and receipt together? I stapled my receipt to my card.

Because I took my cards and put them in the credit card holder in my wallet so I wouldn't lose them. The receipt had all sorts of items on it (groceries, etc). No one said to keep the receipt, so why would I? I only keep receipts for major purchases...

The question is why wouldn't you? It's a preorder and you know Target doesn't keep track like Gamestop or other retailers. So, common sense would indicate that you should retain the receipt.
fuck i want a fucking wii u but i can't fucking pre-order that bitch no where. I'm bout to go terminator up in dis mutha
There's no preorder for Zanax or Zoloft though

thanks for the info, where did u get the info about 1 per person? I might need to call Target and find out.

At my target they still have the basic model for pre-order, but i dont know how that is going to help u. sorry
I wish that things could be copied, rather than transferred, from wii to Wii u. I'd like to transfer my miis but I don't want them all removed from my wii. Looks like I'll be making them over again.
from what ive read you can, just for the miis, copy them over without losing them on the original wii. you can do that now actually, from wii to wii using wiimotes

If you're supposed to keep your receipt, then what's the purpose of the card at all?

Uhhhh so any cashier can ring it up without being a gaming specialist?

Thinking about biting on hsn.com preorders but it is just me or is $500 just too much for a console? Thats how much the bundle is and they only added the damn headset, and the midrange level headset at that! it sounds like a shitty to me.

Welcome back and what did you do?
Uhhhh so any cashier can ring it up without being a gaming specialist?
It's going to be set aside behind the counter in electronics, so that's kind of a moot point.
It's going to be set aside behind the counter in electronics, so that's kind of a moot point.
You missed the point. The cards were so you could check out at any register in the store, especially for those Targets that don't have the gaming section staffed all day and night. You will need both the card and a receipt to pick up the console as otherwise people would be shoplifting the cards and still getting the $5 credit at pickup plus the ability to buy the console. I would suggest you visit customer service the next time you go to that Target and see if they can pull up the receipt using your credit card info. Otherwise, you're probably screwed.
Welcome back and what did you do?
Thanks.

I got banned for the absolute silliest thing. Of all the ban worthy things I've said in the past, I got a week long timeout cause one of the mods (Have no idea which one) got offended about my choice of words. :D

In a nutshell, I said what Chris Christie said about people refusing to evacuate. (In the sandy thread mind you so it wasnt even ot) But in much more colorful language.

Bam! One week ban. (And sandy did a number on my house too.)

And that's all I have to say about that. ;)

No it's not. You missed the point. Target did the smart thing. They made it so anyone can pay for it regardless of where they are in the store. They can get it from electronics and pay for it in regular checkout. Plus, they aren't set behind the electronics counter. They are out on the pegs so anyone can pick it up and not wait for an elecrronics person. They do this with all their preorder cards. I don't even have a single clue why you'd question this.

Sorry for double post. On iPhone.

There wasn't even an argument or anything. You didn't miss anything. /shrug

I played the Wii U. Um....lol it's hard focusing on two screens at a time. The screen is smaller than I thought, but very sharp.
You will need both the card and a receipt to pick up the console as otherwise people would be shoplifting the cards and still getting the $5 credit at pickup plus the ability to buy the console..
The cards need to be activated like gift cards. You can steal a million dollars in gift cards, but if they're not activated at the register and paid for, they're worthless.

As for needing the receipt... I'd imagine if you didn't have it they have information on the transaction, like the payment you used (credit card).

I doubt you'd need it anyway if they really are only setting aside the amount that the cards were sold. Who knows what's going on in their systems. If you tried to go to another Target with it they could deny you because the transaction was from another store. Too many variables to say either way.

Was just at my local best buy (pearland texas) picking up Halo 4 and asked the gaming guy if he knew what the deal was with how the Wii U release was going down as I have a in store pre order from the printable Kiosk $5 down. He told me he didn't know about the quantity that they are receiving or how they will be handed out. Also told me I might have to stand in line to ensure mine as he didn't know if they were going to hand them out by order of pre order or not. He then said in a week they should know and to call ahead to see what the deal is. Anyone else hear different? This is my backup plan C to getting a console. The Rayman game has nice graphics I was pretty surprised. Not a huge Nintendo fan here but that ZombieU looks FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTAAAAAAAASTIC!

Walmart has charged my discover card account for the Wii U order I placed online. Originally they had a pending charge when I placed the order and then it went away. Now it has posted again and says the payment is processing. My walmart.com status also still says it is processing the order.

Hopefully this indicates that these will be shipping out soon.

Someone has said that theirs in already in store so some of the stock is already there.

Incorrect. The Target preorder cards are not unique barcodes. As such they will almost certainly require a receipt in addition to the card at pickup.

This console seems to be much easier to obtain for any hardcore real fan. When the Wii launched if you didnt have a preorder at Gamestop or one of the few a TRU, you were camping out. The gamestop preorders also occured on a Thursday at store opening and was hyped up for weeks, so if you werent a college student, you werent getting that preorder from gamestop.

I camped 15 hours in the blistering cold in NY outside of Bestbuy, now 6 years later all I had to do was go on their website and get in store pickup. So much easier, any real nintendo fan that was dying to get this should have had no problem getting the preorder in on September 13. For the Wii there was no preorders so once when the parents caught on, we had to deal with them to.

I know I may cause a face-palm with this question, I don't like these as much as the next person, but I am pressed for time and lacking reading patience.......

Did Amazon cancel all Wii-U preorders? My friend got an email that says as such to him and I'm trying to get him hooked-up for day 1.

He pre-ordered on day 1 the morning of so I'm just wondering
Amazon doesn't sell Nintendo hardware direct so he never pre ordered with them unless he's not in the US
That may be why. I did ask him about it on day 1 and he said he did and it's done then today..... boom the rug is pulled.

So now we have to hunt

You could sign up to be notified when the Wii U was available on Amazon, but they've continued their practice of not selling any Nintendo Hardware. I think that's just in the US though. Maybe that is what he signed up for, thinking it guaranteed him a pre-order?

Day one patch needed according to IGN

"We don't know much more about this update, only that it will add Miiverse, Wii U Chat (the system's 'real time communication' application), Nintendo TVii and the system's eShop. We are supposed to get access to these programs shortly before the system's launch through an upcoming system update - the same update Wii U owners will have to install in order to gain access to these features as well."

Hit up all the Targets in my area in the hopes that they had any left but no go. One didn't have the gray dots on the UPC so I'm going to check there. SWFL used to be good for getting gaming stuff without having to preorder. I was out of the area when the preorders went live. Are they going to have extra stock, as much as I'd hate to have to wait in a line. :(

I really really hope Nintendoland is in a case and not a sleeve for the Deluxe console. I really really doubt it too though. Glad I can watch the unboxing once it hits tomorrow.

Damn. I'm a huge nerd. :D

You can just print out a custom cover and get an extra case to make your own.

A lot MORE places are doing preorders this time around, probably because of the shitstorm that was the last nintendo console launch.

There is a huge difference between a HQ print from Nintendo and an inkjet print from my printer, but you have a point. It'd just be nice if it came in a case is all.
