Hooray for announcements.
This is from a poster on NeoGaf. These are the releases for JAPAN for January

NES:
-Yie Air Kung Fu
-Master Takahashi's Adventure Island
-Devil World
-Mappy

SNES:
-Super R-Type

N64:
-1080 Snowboarding

Gen:
-Phantasy Star II
-Monster World IV

TG16/CD:
-Samurai Ghost
-Super Air Zonk
-Neo Nectaris (CD Military Madness)

NG: Nothing

Also, I just checked Hudon's website and it look like we will only be getting 1 TGCD game in January, and that game is Riot Zone.

I never played 1080 Snowboarding. Not really into those games. But glad to see it coming to us soon. At least we now know what our next N64 game is

Let's hope for some good game or games (hopefully we get some leaked info since they are dead on accurate) on NYE to wrap up 07.

I got paid today, lol...time to purchase DKC3 and Blades of Steel. :D

The classic controller is essential, sadly. It's nearly impossible to play games like SMW or DKC without it, and personally I needed it before I could beat Sin & Punishment on easy (I just couldn't jam the huge GC shoulder buttons fast enough on that giant bullet level).

Good to see that we're going to start getting the Phantasy Star series at last. More RPG goodness for the VC.

I never managed to finish Phantasy Star II back in the day, but PS IV was awesome and my personal favorite RPG for the Genesis console.

I'm picking up either a GC or CC controller today... I'll be playing a ton of Zelda OoT this next week. After reading the responses to my first question, what's the preferred controller for the game? due to having to get a home for my new hamster >_< I have a smaller budget to work with.

+1
PS IV was also my favorite. I'd gladly take any and all Phantasy Stars they'd be willing to give us. I'd buy em right away, I still have points from October to spend.

Don't have a CC myself, but IIRC it's to attach the Wiimote to.

As much as I like bubble bobble, those are really cruddy games to finish off the year with.
I was hoping for at least some cool import goodness or Super Mario RPG.
Is your avatar an old Nintendo Power ad? It looks familiar.
Bubble Bobble's a winner for me.
Why not wait for the superior neo geo version of Bust a Move Again?
Lords of thunder is coming up soon!

I'm usually one complaining about the releases but Bubble Bobble is def. worth $5! I just wish I would find another Wii (got rid of mine a while ago and now wish I had kept it). I have an unopened 2000 Wii points but no console to use it on :whistle2:(

Isnt Bubble Bobble and Bust a move two totally different games?
Isnt Bubble Bobble and Bust a move two totally different games?
Yeah, I imagine he's confusing it with Puzzle Bobble.
Top Hunter seems interesting.

What's the verdict on Rolling Thunder 2? I'm considering downloading it.
RT2 is semi decent. But theres just too many other actual wii games and vc games that take up my time.. I DLed it and am regretting it..

I was going to come on here to ask if anyone knew what became of the Wii secret santa (what did everyone get?)...but then I noticed that I've been indirectly sig'd by Doomed!

I got Mario 3 from someone, and sent him back ActRaiser. Both great games!

WII-KLY UPDATE: THREE NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

December 31, 2007 - What are you doing New Year's Eve? Thanks to the Wii™ Shop Channel, you've got some outrageous new options. This week's classic game additions offer brilliant fantasy and crackling action to help you ring in '08. So if you haven't made any New Year's resolutions yet, allow us to suggest a few: pop more bubbles, battle more medieval beasts and try to save the universe a little more often.

Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

BUBBLE BOBBLE® (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): BUBBLE BOBBLE's release in 1986 introduced the two bubble dragons, Bub and Bob, and brand new play mechanics, with players defeating enemies by trapping them in bubbles and then popping them. Although the puzzle-action game can be beaten by clearing all 100 rounds, it also contains secret elements such as not being able to get the "true ending" in single-player mode; hidden commands that lead to secret rounds; and a ton of different items. These elements are some of the game's most memorable and important features. Each round even has different air currents that are not visible, so bubbles rise in unpredictable patterns. Aspects like forcing players to understand and utilize these different patterns while playing help make this a revolutionary game that is fun to play anytime.

Light Crusader™ (Genesis, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone-Animated Violence, 800 Wii Points): Each day, more good townspeople of Green Row have been mysteriously disappearing, and beleaguered King Weeden summons the knight Sir David to investigate. Armed with his wits and his sword, Sir David must find the cause of this strange evil and save the citizens of Green Row before things get any worse. Take the role of the brave knight in this action RPG and get to the bottom of the mysteries of Green Row as you fight enemies, solve puzzles and use your best combination of brains and brawn to save the kingdom.

TOP HUNTER (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and older-Cartoon Violence, 900 Wii Points): Take on the role of either Roddy or Cathy, bounty hunters in this side-scrolling action game set far in the future when humans have colonized space. But all is not well: Space pirates called the Klaptons are making their way through the galaxies, wiping out peaceful settlements along their path. This disgraceful behavior leads to them having a price on their heads, so now Roddy and Cathy must travel through four distinct worlds on a mission to defeat their leader, Captain Klapton. Both characters have retractable arms-used to grab enemies or other objects in the scenery-that can then be thrown at others to destroy them. Also, be on the lookout for rings or levers to pull, as this might reveal special bonuses. Further adding to the mix, the game uses a unique system where the action happens on two planes, with the player switching between them at will. Can you prove yourself worthy of the Top Hunter name and help save the universe?

It's nothing we DIDN'T know. At least Bubble Bobble is awesome :)
Happy New Year's.. eve!

Man, I could've saved my Wii points for Bubble Bobble! Man...I should've known the moment I spend 'em something else I want comes along.
Top Hunter sounds like it could be good. Anyone played it?
Looks positively dreadful, but I am not an immediate fan of any and every NEO GEO game.

EDIT: Might as well:

I had a blast with Light Crusader back during the waning days of the Genesis. It's sort of a grown-up Landstalker with easier puzzles. The only knock against it that I can recall now (having not played it in 10+ years) is that it's fairly short and once you beat it, there's no real reason to play it again (for 10+ years). It's also fairly easy and cheap to get the cartridge version. It's on my list of VC games to get once I get a Wii.

FYI: All three VC games this week are also available on GameTap. Bubble Bobble is almost always on the free play list and the other two are available for Gold members (currently $60/year).

You can save your current game state for all three games like on the Wii. Both Bubble Bobble and Top Hunter have online multiplayer and Bubble Bobble has an online leaderboard on GameTap.

60 Wii VC games on GameTap
Isnt Bubble Bobble and Bust a move two totally different games?
Yes, they are, though both star Bub and Bob (the main characters). Bubble Bobble is more an action game, whereas Bust a Move is more a puzzle game. Both are really good games, IMHO.

my new years eve will be spent playing bubble bobble with the wife. i played a little one player and it wasn't quite as fun as i remembered. but still pretty fun. and playing co-op will be awsome i'm sure.

while i was in the shopping channel i gave in and got devil's crush. oh man. so good. i'm really enjoying it. i'm going to be playing a lot of these two games.

I just bought Alien Soldier, awesome game but man it's harder than I thought. I thought it was going to be easier like Gunstar Heroes lol.

I've still got 2500 points and I'm trying to figure out what to use them on. I'm thinking of getting either Cybernator or Axelay at the moment. Any suggestions?
