The Witcher 2 available for pre-purchase on various sites -- 10% off ($44.99)

GOG is offering it at the same price. It's DRM-free and they'll give you one of five different GOG rpgs if you pre-order from them. Plus they will give the usual assortment of goodies.

For those interested in the über collector's edition that was pulled from Gamestop's website, they are taking pre-orders in BM stores.

Thanks, good to know. I checked and it's available at Impulse and GamersGate as well. Time for a thread update.

BWAH?! Amazon best get said edition because I'm all over that.

I'm amazed at what GOG's doing. I really want a boxed version of the game, but GOG's digital offer is SO tempting. Maybe I'll buy one of each. I did end up buying 3 different versions of the first game. LOL

HOLY SHIT! For $130 I think I'll pass. Much of that is junk and I know it'll drop down to $40 one day, if I even care. I thought it was just going to be your normal CE with maybe a steelbook, heh.

All I read it as is: some DLC jacket? (w/e the fuck that is), making of *yawn*, internet download, a piece of paper, art book I'll thumb through once, not into busts, piece of metal, pieces of plastic, I outgrew stickers in grade school, another CCG, more metal and finally papercraft I would actually display. . .somewhere. And they want $80 for it? Lol k.

According to the latest press conference, the Retail Standard edtions will actually be Deluxe Edtions:

Besides the CE, a "Premium Edition" will serve as the standard edition, meaning everyone who chooses not to purchase the CE will get this edition with extra content for a regular price (unless you pre-order, in which case you'll receive a 10% discount). This includes goodies you normally see in CEs: making of DVD, soundtrack, map, game guide, pamphlet and cursed coin. A "Digital Premium Edition" is available for all digital outlets, including all of the content, digitized (even papercraft for you to print out).

Well, if you pre-order the GOG.com version it comes with digital versions of the artbook, soundtrack, making-of video and PDFs of the papercraft figures and map & letters. Plus you get a free GOG game when the Witcher 2 comes out (choose from Gothic 2 Gold, Realms of Arkania 1 + 2, Realms of Arkania 3, Divine Divinity, and Beyond Divinity), it's $44.99 AND 100% DRM free. Also, you don't give any credit card info or anything when you pre-order it. You just log into your GOG account, go to the game page, click on Pre-Order and then they notify you when the game comes out (so you can buy it then). In the meantime you get to download 4 free music tracks, 10 avatars and HD wallpapers, and a photo tour of the CDProjekt RED offices.

Yeah, I pre-ordered the GOG version myself. I may still buy a hard copy as well...I just love CDProjekt RED (and CDProjekt) that much. LOL

I love them too, awesome developer. Just not $80 awesome lol.

I think so. I imported the European vanilla version for $50 back in 2007, imported the European Enhanced Edition for $50 in 2008 and bought the Enhanced Edition: Director's Cut from Steam for $13.xx in 2009. :D

God I hope they go ahead with the console version. The game looks incredible but all I've got is an old laptop that won't even run Knights of the Old Republic.

Yeah, the big huge edition is a little over the top, so the real question is - digital or hard copy? A 200 page art book sounds more interesting as a hard copy, but the rest...ah well, plenty of time to decide.
So wait, the Collector's Edition is $130 or $80?

I'm buying it either way.
I believe he's saying it is $80 more than the basic $50 version.

Another good old games comes to GOG.....wait, WHAT!

Okay, since GOG is the developers' baby, I can give them
a pass on releasing thus brand new game. Might the first
Witcher (unrated) appear on GOG, too?

Going to go with the Steam version soon. So glad they're adding achievements and other stuff to the version I was already going to get.

Whoever doesn't buy this game is an awful person and should feel awful

I would go for Steam if I wasn't getting the nerd-tastic overkill edition.

Yes, I love The Witcher that much and CD Projekt that much. I know it's completely silly.

If people don't buy this game then there is no hope left in humanity.

I played the demo of the first game & have been itching to pick up the enhanced edition since it seems to come w/ a lot of stuff, but then again have been holding out for a Steam sale.

These guys are great developers & have come out of nowhere to put a lot of kick ass work into this.

I think I will get it from the gog and wait for the CE to drop. Gotta support gog when there is an opportunity. either way, they will be getting my money, likely twice!

Yah, a cheap, discounted digital copy will end up in either Steam or gog for me at some point.

I should probably just go ahead and order this on Steam, it's one of if not my most anticipated release next year, the first game was fantastic.
