The Yakuza 2 / Ryu Ga Gotoku 2 Thread (OUT NOW!)

ugh... I'm no longer in the "no continues" club anymore :cry:

but dood on chapter 7 those 2 big doods... damn that has got to be the darkest korean I've ever seen in my life!!

hella big too... I swear, that guy's a freakin Samoan... aint no koreans who look like that!!

I have one major gripe with the game tho... the freakin camera!!!

all my deaths were becoz of it... I'm scared to death of turning corners against sum bosses coz the time it takes me to readjust ends in me getting hit...

I freakin had to retry to final boss like 200 times becoz of that!! also becoz I had no health items...

anyway, the camera proves once again why I hate 3D games... I think this game woulda been jus as good if done in like a TWEWY or Legend of the Mystical Ninja style.

but that gripe aside it was definitely a fantastic game and I look forward to playing the 1st one sometime!!

Started playing this a few days ago. So far my favorite thing about this game: the bad ass "HEAT" moves Kiryu performs. I literally ran around for almost an hour last night getting into fights just so I could beat the crap outta people.

While the graphics aren't bad (it is a 3 year old PS2 game after all) I can't help but want it to look better. The jaggies are distracting as hell and it has this overall fuzziness to it. Anyone else experience this?
 
Enjoying the game, but it still has all the design flaws from the first that I hate (How your attacks continue to track when you stop hitting the attack button, lack of random encounters if your level is too high, small inventory, cheap bosses with tracking and unblockable moves etc).

Also, I miss English Dub. I hate how the Japanese way of making someone sound crazy is to just randomly upwardly pitch their voice (Majima). Kept it from Gamefly for $10.Not too bad.

well... after having it on my backlog for a while, I started playing yakuza finally yesterday, however, when I got to the "escape the funeral" section, my 80 gig ps3 froze. I replayed the section 5 times and it froze every time, so I guess I won't be finishing this game, what a bummer.

I'd like to give yakuza 2 a try, do they refer to events in the first game in the second, or should i just jump right in?
 
Is your firmware up to date? According to Sony's list, the freeze was fixed a few versions ago.

And yeah, you want to finish the first before starting the second. Worst case, you might be able to download a save from right after that point in the game.

yeah, firmware is up to date, and the freeze is definitely not fixed, maybe i'll check out getting a save after that point to continue.
 
I got to the point in Yakuza 2 where you have to pay the guy 300,000 yen for info to continue the story. I only have 120,000 yen. And a random encounter gives me 5,000 yen. FUUUUUUUUAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! (I have a long way to go.)
