Thinking about cancelling cable

AOTS had the Boxee Box thing on last night but only gave it a 3/5. Then they mentioned something that logitech makes but I couldn't hear what it was that's $80 more...
Oh, I know about sites like that...but I'm looking for something I can stream to either the PS3 or Xbox. Apparently the PlayOn app may work nicely...
yeah i've heard good things about playon for that, haven't used it myself though.

If I wasn't getting cable for free I'd cancel it. Aside from a few shows I barely watch TV since I do other things in my free time. Just not worth it to me.

I called my company yesterday since the bill went up a AGAIN. I'm being charged $52 just for INTERNET service. I called to cancel yesterday, before which I asked if there were any promotions. They said the account wasn't eligible.

"We're sorry to lose you."

See, I don't mind paying for good internet service...because I use it the most at this point, more than the cable TV. It's that the cable tv portion of my bill is almost twice as much as the web service.

My Dad is thinking of quitting, but I think we're roped in for another 1 year at least because we upgraded our 10+ year old receiver.

When I get my house, I'm just going with antenna TV and netflix will do the trick. I might DL the random episode of Walking Dead from XBL, PSN or Apple.

I will miss American Pickers though.

The only reason why I have cable is because of sports. I watch a ton on NFL,NBA,MMA and WWE.I hope netflix or hulu can get sporting events one day.

The closest thing you'll get is online season packages. NBA has League Pass Broadband for instance.

I signed up for the MLB online pass once. I then realized that my local market is blacked out and that its only useful if you enjoy watching teams that are not based out of where you live. MLB refunded me the purchase and I have been watching with more dubious means ever since. Not sure if the NBA/NHL versions are different, but I would imagine they have blackouts too.

Also I just got rid of cable this week. 3 days in and going strong. I love ustream and justin.tv. Its really cool to watch "TV Stations" created by the average Joe and see what they decide to broadcast.
