After reading about the 69.99 gbasp retro system at FYE (after rebate) deal, I'm seriously thinking about finally buying this damn thing. Its too sweet looking to pass up. My question is, what games are must-owns for this system? I mostly enjoy rpgs. The last gameboy system i owned was the very first model that was released...and the last game that I've played on gameboy was Castlevania II Belmonts Revenge. I know their are a lot of games out, but I've basically ignored every portable gaming system due to the fact that if I buy one, gaming will take over my life due to being able to play outside of my house...oh well. Anyways, any help would be fine! Thanks again.

There's got to be a hundred posts on this, but here we go again. . . The two Golden Sun games, all three Castlevania's, both Metroids, and FF Tatics are all good. If you like old school RPGs, Breath of Fire I and II are out there, although 2 is better. The Phantasy Star Collection is also worthwhile. Fire Emblem and Advance Wars are good if you like strategy. If you like fighting games, both Street Fighters, and expecially the second KOF game are good.

yeah, i knew their probably were 100 or so threads like this....but this ones for me...so if people aren't too tired of listing recommendations by now and can help me out a bit, id be very appreciative

thanks for the help man

Almost forgot, Car Battler Joe is awesome. It's like mario kart crossed with Mad Max with minor RPG elements. ANd you should be able to find it cheap!

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (best Castlevania game on the gba)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (my favorite gba game)
Super Mario Advance 2-4 (get 1 later, as its the worst one)
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire (some say its for little kids, but I'm 18 and i tried it for the first time ever a couple weeks ago and I loved it.)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (my favorite rpg on the gba, mainly because the battles are much more engaging)
Warioware
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (this is a gameboy color game, but its one of the best games you can buy)

If we are going with Game Boy Color games, you cannot go wrong with Metal Gear Solid: Color ( or whatever it is called) or Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages. They are all fantastic.

advance wars 2 for strategy...i love taht game :D

ummm...rpgs...the golden sun games are awesome on the gba...also definitely pick up mario and luigi: sueprstar saga which is a great rpg w/ a superb battle system...if u like strat rpgs like me, also get fire emblem and tactics ogre: knight of lodis...there are plenty of really good gba games out there, these are some of them i own...

Shining Soul I and II are good too, so isn't Fire Emblem (epic game, should buy immediately if you like strategy turn based battle systems) and Lunar Legend you might wanna check out though it's not that great.
Check out Harvest Moon too, FOMT is a great place to get started, I wasn't attracted to the sound of a farming simulation but it's a lot more fun then you think, and very addicting.
Also look for upcoming releases for:
Legend of Zelda Minish Cap, and
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Buy the games on DVD, "Xbox" brand GBA games.

Not only do they have better graphics they load faster too. Don't let those fanboy employees say they only work on Xbox, they are lying!

Someone mentioned it about, but I can't emphasize the awesometude of WARIO WARES enough.

It was teh first GBA game I bought and even though I've gotten a ton of other awesome games (the Castlevania's come to mind), it's still my favorite.

The recent MARIO VERSUS DONKEY KONG is also an excellent platformer/puzzle game.

Guilty Gear X, the two Street Fighter games, Lunar Legend, Phantasy Star Collection, Tactics Ogre, and Fire Emblem :)

I like Advance Wars and Duke Nukem Advance too.
If theres one game you're ever gonna get..

get Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
Period.
word.

but I must also recommend my favorite series... MEGA MAN ZERO

Super Mario Advance 4
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Wario Ware, Inc.
Fire Emblem
Advance Wars
Mega Man Zero
Mega Man Zero 2
Lunar Legend (if you haven't played a Lunar game - this might get you to want to play the PS1 incarnates though)
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

Note that I did not recommend some of the other GBA games out there, like the Golden Suns, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance because I think they are pretty overrated. I haven't played the newer ones like Mario vs Donkey Kong yet though, so I can't give any recommendations yet on those.

thanks for all of the help...i picked up my gbasp today...with pac man collection...im planning on picking up a lot more games though as soon as i get the money...and time to play them
