#-o/#-o $20 isn't a lot of money.
It is when you don't have $20 and all you will get out of it is a possibly funny story.
I need to get in a Work-Study program.
Get a job on campus.

Most universities prefer hiring work study students due to the fact those students' wages aren't paid by whatever department, but by the government.

That's what I had planned to do. I need to go up there this week to see about getting some aid money for summer classes and transferring some credits over anyways, so I'll just talk to someone about it then then.

Am I the only one that can't do this with my hands/fingers?

My 360 fucking went red ring on me. I just got the fucking thing back like a month ago!!!

I was gonna say, my dept has some work-study people, but we don't hire anyone over the summer, just keep the people we had in the spring on.

That's what I gathered they do here from looking at the ODU site. I will probably take out a loan anyways so I will survive over the summer semester.

Refurbs are ticking time bombs. Shouldn't expect them to last very long.

Twitter is so damn tight. "I just brushed my teeth - 10 hours ago from the web" "Put my shoes on just now - 9 hours ago from the web" :whistle2:|

Wait, wait, wait. That Glen Beck chipmunk $$$$$$ wasn't enough, they had to bring down Ted Nugent to the Alamo for that stupid-ass contrived tea party? #-o
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnddd I just caught a student plagiarizing. What an awesome night.
What are you going to do? I had someone plagiarize before, but it was in a Freshman class and I'm not sure if she knew what she was doing. They were asked to write a 4-5 page review of Melvyn Leffler's Specter of Communism, and she quoted directly from it without citing Leffler. I just gave her a stern talking to rather than taking it to the Dean.

On the other hand, I found out later that if you google 'specter of communism review,' or something like that, it comes up with a review from epinions. I'd say half the papers at least stole the quotes and format of that review--which was a horrible review and missed the point of the book entirely. I wish I know of that article beforehand.

I'm riding on a dolphin, doing flips and shit
The dolphin's splashing, getting everybody all wet
But this ain't Seaworld, this is real as it gets
I'm on a boat, motherfucker, don't you ever forget

I didn't know you were a professor, munch. I take it you do literature or history?
I'm a graduate student. Where I got may Master's they let graduate students teach classes after 18 hours.

I once taught a Donnie Darko course at the local community college.

... well, some girl believed that, anyway.

That's whats up. I've had a few grad students teach my classes and most of the time they seem more open and sympathetic to the class because they have the experience fresh in their mind. It always seems like they are more willing to help the students and spend more of their own time working with them. All of the professors I have talked to about help mention their office hours while I've had grad students come in specifically to do a small tutoring session.
What happens to someone who gets caught plagiarizing in your class?

How did you catch him, BigCornyBard?
Well, after a page of lots of red ink, it suddenly became pretty good... Too good. I typed a sentence into Google and found two pages (out of just over three) of his essay on a website.

Last semester when I caught a student I marked the essay a zero and told the student to decide whether to ride out the class or drop it. But, in that instance, the student was an otherwise hard-working and dedicated student, so it was completely out of character.

This time, it's an athlete who hasn't put forth the best effort. With a zero on the essay, and the rest of the grades where they are, it's pretty much a certain failure of the class.

It just makes me feel awful. It completely ruins my day. I like trusting my students, and to have this happen two semesters in a row just kills it.
