Third Party bongo-controllers?

Wondered if anyone had any impressions or experiences with the 3rd party bongo controllers for DK Jungle Beat or Konga 1/2? I've noticed that places like Gamestop are marketing what appear to be Pelican brand knock-offs for a mere $10, and wondered if I would be getting what I was paying for on those (ie. crap).

I have the Pelicans, and they suck. I paid $10 at Wal-Mart and I returned Donkey Konga 2 to GameCrazy, thinking the bongos were broken. No, they just aren't very responsive (at least in comparison to Nintendo brand). There's also no cushioning under the drum skins, so your hands hurt after one song. Far better to buy the Nintendo brand. I bought Donkey Konga at GameCrazy for $20, and it came with a set of bongos.
