fuckin' Strell sycophants. Man, I expect no more/less.

So when do you guys get to redeem the brownie points for valuable Strell catalogue schwag?

EDIT: There's a "c" in "schmuck". Because you should play "catch-up" on the spelling.
Holla!

But yeah, I'll be getting away from arguing and getting to playing RG as soon as I can dash out of the office, and then Friday I will be cracking open Godfather to play my first Wii game on my new widescreen set. My first tech-whore purchase in years! We'll be so happy together.

And lucky for you, Godfather Wii has a widescreen mode!

Use this spreadsheet to see which games will make full use of your new TV

Also, GTA LCS.
No clue....
I'm not much of a GTA fan... maybe put that down and get DJ Max Portable?

Lame suggestion I guess...
Oh god.

You know, I'll pay for some surgery for you to have a rib removed, so you can finally like your own balls, since it's painfully obvious you are really wishing you could do so right now.

Oh, the demo for 2? Yeah, that was an awful demo. That really must've chased away any potential buyers. I promise you, it starts much easier than that... especially with 4 button mode. It's pretty easy to get into and I'd recommend getting the first game. It's easily my favorite music game of all time and it does ramp up the difficulty well.

Best 2D fighter? Either Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX or Guilty Gear Judgment. Personally, if you go with Guilty Gear (which is my favorite fighter ever so I'm biased), I'd recommend importing it since the import version comes with Guilty Gear Slash rather than Reload. The difference is that there's a number of balancing tweaks, there's 2 new characters, and there's some other new shit... but it's probably more expensive I guess. Still, both are excellent games.

And I have a Hori screen protector for my PSP... worked fine. I had no air bubbles, it's not noticeable once it's on, and it doesn't leave a sticky residue like some CAGs do...

Whatever you say, man. Good day.

(I did see Brian Warner's grade school once, but that's about as close to the truth as that post came.)
I'm a little disgusted that I bought it at release and didn't put any time into it before now. To me, this feels like what Dark Cloud should've been. None of the annoyances, a much deeper, more interesting combat system, a good storyline, excellent voice acting, great musical score, etc. I highly recommend this to anyone with a PS2.
I couldn't stand DC2. The main character was annoying, always alway always saying "I didn't know how great this adventure would be" or "I started an adventure that was to be great" or something like that. I put it away and haven't looked back since.
Good choice. Samsung makes a really nice LCD. I know everyone thinks I'm an elitist prick when it comes to electronics and... that's probably true, but I absolutely cannot fault that Samsung model.
It was between that and a similar LG model, but this one had the USB port which I was able to more easily sell my new bride on. PM'd CC for $1099, only $100 more than I planned on spending and with the oodles of wedding money we got, wasn't a big deal.

And I agree with all your comments on RG, even though I've never played Dark Cloud. And I only bought this game a few weeks ago, so I'm no fool. ;)

Does anyone else feel that this forum has been lacking a good gaming-related OTT? Since that's what this is and all.

Yeah, I liked the original DC a bit... maybe because the music was so incredibly good for the second and third world's dungeons (I'm weird like that sometimes), but the combat was dull, the water drinking concept was stupid, and it really felt pretty blah all around. I remember when that was touted as Sony's answer to Zelda.

But alas, Level 5 has really improved... between Dragon Quest VIII and Rogue Galaxy, they've become one of my favorite developers. They're developing White Knight Story, right? That game will be unbelievable if they keep up their current awesome streak.

Nice nice, can these fighters be found on the cheap?

And I actually wont need a screen protector if I can get my hands on the case that came with the psp originally. This way it will always be kept in that, unless I'm playing it somewhere. It's the same way I've kept my iPod pretty much scratch free for a few years.

Yeah, I'm glad you went with the Samsung... definitely prefer their offerings to anything by LG.

And yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing. We need a gaming OTT like this where it's just a random orgy of gaming related posts. It's actually informative to an extent and you can talk about whatever game you're playing without the need for a dedicated thread. Mods, can we make it happen (watch, they'll lock this now because of me)?
Since CMJ is by design aimed at Computer Scientists and Computer Music Theorists/Practitioners, it's by definition NOT a family-friendly publication. It's a Computer Music publication, and it claims to be so in the name.

Zelda is a video game, and it is meant to entertain. However, I would argue that it aims to entertain fans of the genre and fans of the franchise, and is not one of Nintendo's "titles for everyone" catalog. Family-Friendly entertainment as defined by Reggie Fils-Aime (and I should have been clearer as to that particular definition) implies titles that are intended for everyone's joy and are "universal" in design, with practical limitations of the term. By my "definition" Wii Sports is one of many family-oriented titles, which I believe takes care of that "nothing" accusation.

To emphasize my point, Computer Music Journal is more than likely to offend people with regard to their interpretation and definition of the word music. That is, if they thought about the actual content, and did not judge it by absense of profanity. Considering that you don't see it as a publication that caters to adults by design, I sincerely doubt your ability to judge video games, and whether or not they cater to kids or adults (and I don't mean just you, dallow, I pretty much reserve this one for most subscribers to "immature Wii games" doctrine). It seems that the only thing that makes things "adult" in your book is emphasis on a very particular brand of "offensive" content: violence, nudity, and profanity. By such a standard, you would draw some sort of a bullshit line between Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra and Heidegger's Being and Time, since it's up to "dallow" to figure out which concepts are "too dark" for Family values and which are "good enough." (Hint: Thanksgiving dinner is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event.)

I think what you're trying to say is that The Legend of Zelda is done with good taste and class, and doesn't deal with things that make GTA a scandalous title. And by that measure, Computer Music Journal is definitely a publication of class and taste as well, with quality control for the articles within that match the quality control of Zelda titles. Neither, however, is written and published for the sake of family-centered entertainment.

Oh, and before some more of you start munching on my nuts, the phrases "good taste" and "class" are loaded on purpose, which is why they are in italics above. Pointing that out will do nothing more of winning you "Dipshit Sherlock" award. And I'm sorry about the article THE in Notes from Underground. I've only read that in my native Russian tongue. Tak chto, blya, pinay otsyuda so svoyey huynyoi o tom chto Russkaya kultura tebe ne nuzhna chtobi Dostoevskogo ponyat'.
You didn't have to write so much to be so wrong.

CMJ is family friendly, and that's that. Does it hurt you to see me write that?
Nothing in CMJ will offend my family. We can open it up and laugh at it's little theories and ideas. Or we can agree and learn something new. Or we can find it boring and put it aside.

I KNOW it caters to a certain niche audience, no shit!
But I'm also saying, that it's safe enough material for anyone to read and not see something they probably shouldn't because they aren't old enough.

PLUS, I already told you I felt Notes From Underground is NOT family friendly because of the darker and disturbing themes that young children shouldn't read about yet.

Violence, nudity, all those things, do make ADULT games, but I never said it made them MATURE.

Listen to Eno, and chill the fuck out.
Sorry, I shouldn't curse. Just chill.

SFA 3 MAX should be cheap. IIRC, it was clearanced at Circuit City at one point and that's usually when the price plummets on a game for good. It should be about $10-$20. Guilty Gear... probably the same. The Japanese version is $50, which is hella expensive now that I think about it. That's how much it's costing me to import Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for the PS2 so that's probably not advisable now...

Just go make the thread and see what happens. Worst comes to worst it'll just be locked.

Somehow, this has suddenly tutrned into one of the best threads ever.

Anyone else playing LocoRoco right now? That game is solid fun, and seems like it's going to be really tough to get a full complete on the game. I don't think I've even gotten a 20/20 LocoRocos on any stage yet (close to the end of world 2).

EDIT: Oh, and, botticus? Are you married now? Congrats! :)
EDIT: And while I should expect the hostility and indignation from anyone with the name "Mario" in their username, MarioColbert, you quote me, start deconstructing my post, and then without warning or clarification start referencing other users. I'm the one with "Trevor" as the avatar, not the "cartoon tits" (see below). If necessary, take a couple deep breaths to differentiate your enemies.
I like that you associate the family-friendly name of Mario with hostility. Listen not-so-jollydwarf, all I told you was to remember that quote, because you'll be swallowing your words in less than a year. Had I thought of your posts to be enlightening or interesting enough to "deconstruct," I might have done just that. (If you want a hint on how to create a compelling, intelligent, and interesting argument, see dallow's posts.) If you think you're the only one on this forum who is an outwardly ignorant flame-starter that sells his opinion for more that its worth (or at least tries to), you're wrong.

So here you go, a post dedicated completely to your bloated ego. I'm sure that the rest of the readers of this forum were too stupid and idiotic to figure out whose boobalicious avatar I was referring to. Thanks for clearing your name, because too many Wii-loving children would have been confused.

Hmm, now I come to a decision...go to CC now, or workout first...

Guilty Gear should be around $12 I think at CC. I'm pretty sure I saw it there for that much.

Workout first. You feel better about playing games after you take care of mandatory things like exercise.

fucking pushups and situps always getting in the way of my gaming.

But thanks to you and daroga for the kind words before this thread gets demolished.

Who wants to play a last gen game with shitty motion controls? It deserves PS3 and 360, they can provide a much more immersive experience.
Oh my. This thread is just a smörgåsbord of shit to hate.

I propose we start with people who use the Character Map when making posts.

ASCII or gtfo, bitch. Unicode? No.

Regardless. Don't have the time, do not have the time.

You were asking for suggestions anyway, sport.

Or are you one of those "old bean" guys? Maybe a chap?

I can't tell anymore. "Bitch" is so easily universally applicable, so I'll just stick with that.

Eh, just somethin' to do while updating my iPod. I gotta get to the gym and steal the treadmill from the Judge Judy-watchin' old ladies.

So, of course, *I* can watch Judge Judy.

BRING THE HAMMER DOWN, BITCH!

May as well change the thread to "This has to end. I hate this SHOTT!!!"

I like that you associate the family-friendly name of Mario with hostility.

No, I just assumed that someone with the word "Mario" in his or her username would have an adverse reaction to my post.

And hey, botticus, I didn't start the fire, it was always burnin', since the boards been turnin'....
