Those Bastards at Ebgames.com

CAGiversary!
Just want to go on record that I love ebgames deals and have ordered from them online over 20 times in the past few years, but.....

just checked my credit card statement today and found 3 $9 charges from reservation rewards (its the little thing that pops up after you make a purchase from the ebagmes website). Anyway, I NEVER signed up for it. Called reservation rewards and they game me some bogus email address that was used to sign up for the account. After about 20 minutes of bitching they refunded my money. Beware.
I hate it when awesome companies like eb screw over their loyal customers by selling out to these internet parasites!!!.

I don't know where I'm going to get games from once Gamestop eats Ebgames, I had a really bad experience with Gamestop.com and I have sworn off ordering from them again.

I hate EB, I've always had a better experience at every GS I've ever been to. Although, I will say, recently GS has adotped the EB policy of trying to push used games, make you sell your games back etc. I really hate it. I try and buy my games from other places first.

I had a bad experience on gamestop.com too... I don't use their website anymore. I much prefer their B&M though.

Myself as well.

I really only order the games that I really want on the first day that their out (Halo 2, death Jr. We love Katamary) from EBgames or Gamestop. I know your reservation rewards complaint. Simply google it and you'll find an e-mail address for them and if you suggest going to the better business burow (sorry I can't spell) you will get all of your money back. But really I'm trying to stay away from both because I just don't like what their doing for the industry. When I say that I mean things like $600 Xbox 360 preorders. Sorry for the rant but simply try your best to avoid, their are other places online that preorder games (bestbuy, amazon) and good luck with the reservation rewards.

Bureau EDIT:.. also.. Bestbuy.. i don't think anyone here will say they'll prefer to go there.. Circuit City is a much better store (for the similar type).. I thought B&M Gamestops were much better.. but online EB was king.. I'm sure a new video game company will up and come and take on GS once this is all said and done like FYE they occasionally have really good deals. and Rhinos have been popping up and they do used games.. so it'll bea matter of time before a new company takes over EB's business.

I'd rather go to best buy. I can't stand EB or Gamestop 95% of the people there are assholes. The other 5% are underrated and only work part-time.

In the last week:

TRU:
Me: - "I need to copies of nintendogs"
TRU - "It doesn't come out till Sept. 4th"
Me - Goodbye.

Gamestop:
I went to a gamestop near here that is showing a Suikoden in stock. When I got there, I asked him to check. He told that "it'll never hit the floor, I can guarantee it". As this was going on I had started to reserve my 360 Gold bundle. I stopped and walked out when he said that.

EBgames:
The Eb had a Suikoden as well, I drove there asked and he told me it was 39.99 but didn't have anything with it. Knowing that $40 on ebay will net me a complete version, and asked if there was a better deal since it was a scratched disc-only copy. He told me "Yeah, I'll throw in a DVD case for you to keep it in." I put down the Death Jr limited, the 3 screen protectors and 2 copies of Nintendogs and walked out.

I got in on the Polarium deal, (thanks OP). The order shipped and the tracking said it arrived, I drove home on my lunch because of the rain. I open the box and inside was my packing slip, battleship for shipping fodder and nothing else. I call and was told that it will ship "later". I ask if i missed something on the order confirmation. "no". Then i ask, "ow am I supposed to know when it will arrive?" "Itll just show up sometime in the next few days." So then I ask how is a customer supposed to know that there is two packages instead of one and that we have no idea when they are going to arrive or if they are backordered? "I don't know"

A+ for customer service...

Circuit City about 2 years ago:
I had a manager tell me maybe I should go somewhere else when I had my first iPod in my hand at Circuit City when I asked him if they had the 30G models. He turned and walked away, that was last time I've set foot in a CC.

The best buy near me is managed by an old friend and maybe thats why I've never had problems there.

I don't see any problem with the guy at EB Games. It's not his fault that the game wasn't mint/complete, and he can't take it on himself to lower store prices. If you knew you could get it on eBay guaranteed mint/complete for the same price, why'd you waste the time and the drive? As for Circuit City, unless I'm reading that wrong, which is very possible since I don't know the whole story, it sounds like he was just trying to tell you "hey, we don't have it". It's amazing how personal people can make things over something so trivial.

you sound like one ass hole of a customer.

Its more amazing how people can read into a story an pull something else out entirely. You don't see a problem with him being a smart ass about the DVD case? You don't see a problem with me asking a manager a question and having him say "you should go somewhere else?" You've got a lot to learn about self-respect and what is an acceptable form of treatment. I would never treat someone that way and if any of my employees ever treated any customer that way, I would fire them on the spot. Let alone if the customer was a backbone to that particular store.
you sound like one ass hole of a customer.
That may be, feel free to explain to me why you think that. Or do you just make arbitrary judgements all the time? How is looking for the "service" in customer service make me an asshole? If you're bitter and hate your job go get a new one. Don't bring it to the work place, there is always someone who wants what you have.

Genocidal yeah I agree man. All of those storys sounded like a little over acting. I think he might be the star in some of those customer horror stories.

And what is so bad about Eb and GS? If we didnt have them there would be no trading of any sort and everything would have to be bought brand new all the time. You would have to go to the hassle of Ebay and the awsomness of selling on there......

SO yeah it can be a little behind or unorganized, or they dont have any of your Suikodenene games ( I still dont get why everyone is so damn obssessed with that game) ... Just cut them some slack, Its becoming the only game stores we really got.

R.I.P babbages... :bomb:

You have to admit that it doesn't look like the stores are the problem when you listed about 5 that you have problems with and one of the issues is that the store didn't have Nintendogs. Grow up.

If you think that walking out calmly is a customer horror story you need to spend sometime in the workforce, son.

You have to admint you can't/didn't read. Nintendogs came out on Tuesday of last week, she gave me a date of next Sunday. I didn't realize that asking that the employees employed in the department that work at actually know something about what they are selling is my issue.

Don't forget that you didn't put the products that you were going to buy back before you calmly walked out thus creating a problem for the staff.

So? She could have given you a date of next Christmas, that's not the point. I don't see how one $7 an hour employee equates with an issue with an entire company.

Right. Puting the Death Jr, the protectors and the nintendogs back in the case where he got them from, is going to keep them there till close.

I'm sure...

This went from an issue of a guys problem with EB online, to the boards problem with a guys problem of most major video game storess. Although its over, I thought it was kinda funny.

Huh.

Well, I know myself well enough not to use offers like that. Example 1: I actually paid for my eMusic.com mp3s, being too lazy to go and download my 40-50 mp3s and then cancel before the first 30 days. Example 2: as soon as Blockbuster got rid of "late fees" I started incurring "restocking fees".

Doh.

"Can you give me something free at the expense of the store or just lower the price?"

"I'll give you a DVD case."

"Waaah! I'll never buy anything from you again and I'll now lay my games down and leave and report you to internet people!!!!"

Dude, grow up. Last time I checked the 7 dollar an hour employees don't get to make decisions on who gets discounts, and you deserved the sarcastic remark for asking for free shit. Sorry the whole world doesn't live up to your standards.

I've had problems with Reservation Rewards before in the past, but not through EB's site. I never looked at my credit card statements though and upon checking one over one day, I realized they were billing me and it had been going on for about 6 months! When I called to get it sorted out they refused to refund the money. fucking bastards.

Seriously, he sounds like a whiny little punk. Especially with the Suikoden. Oh, and I always call ahead when I see something on the store locator, because there's a chance it's off. Also, employees have a right to buy the games, and he was just being a baby and walked out in the middle of a preorder because he can't get his game.

you walked out because he wouldnt give you a better deal? If you could get one on ebay for 40$ then get it. Plus, employees cant name their own prices just cause someone asks them. To tell you the truth, you are kind of a bitchy customer.

ya know, i agree with you though. I walked into Ebgames and asked for an Xbox........it was my Birthday so i asked if i could have it for half off, and ya know what the employee said? "YA right" So i cried on the floor knocked a bunch of stuff off the racks and stormed out.

God damn dude you are SUCH A BITCH! Sorry about being offensive, but who the hell do you think you are???

Bingo. And when someone pulls shit like that (leaving things on the counter and walking out) signals 'asshole.' If you really worked in retail you'd know that.

Sounds a bit like exaggeration and constipation.

Hmmm. I think it's YMMV on employees tweaking prices. When I buy a used game, if it doesn't come with instructions or a manual or case or whatever, I usually ask if they'll knock something off the price. Sometimes I get a "no" because they don't alter the trade-in value based on whether or not the game is complete, but sometimes just asking gets me 10% off. This has happened to me at different B&Ms of the same chain. I think the poster was making the point that it doesn't hurt to ask.
