So tempted by this. I don't play VC games on the Wii yet at all, but it'd be nice just to have an alternative to the wavebird that has rumble.

Is Thrustmaster releasing a new model? Why are these sold out everywhere, and being scalped on Ebay?

It should probably be mentioned that for some reason these don't appear to work on the Gamecube itself, although it works for playing Gamecube games on the Wii.

I really like the idea of this product, I want a wireless controller for the Wii with a good dpad like this one has. I just wonder if others will follow with slightly better designs?

well, isn't that weird. I would assume that since it works on the wii's GC ports, it would work on the GC itself, but who knew?

I snagged one of these yesterday. I needed it to play NiGHTS since the Nintendo controllers all have octagons instead of circles in their analog stick area. Makes doing circles a pain in the ass.

Didn't hurt that IGN gave it a pretty solid review. It doesn't hurt that it includes rumble either. Something neither the wavebird or the classic controller include.

Really? I ordered Lost Planet on the 17th, it shipped on the 18th an arrived on the 24th. I used their free shipping option. First time I've bought anything from buy.com though. They said it'd take 7 days and it did.

Ugh. Watch out, guys - the thing is advertising free shipping, but when I went through Google Checkout, it's trying to charge me $7.18 for shipping, reflected on both my buy.com receipt and my GC receipt.

I'm going to contact them to have them fix that, but buyer beware.

EDIT: It defaults to the 'standard' $7 shipping even though they advertise free shipping. Make sure you actually change that if you want the free shipping.

Oh, I see what happened. It defaults to the shipping that costs money, even though it advertises free shipping.

Bastards. I canceled the order and I think I cost myself my GC bonus. :(
I wanted this until I found out it runs on batteries and although I could buy some rechargable AAAs I'd rather just get a classic controller.
The logic holds up until you realize the Wiimote runs on batteries too :)

I had read from a few random people that the analogs were backwards or something, but that the controls were mappable. Does anyone know what the story is? If anyone can clear it up, I'd likely order one tonight.

Got mine. The analogs are fine, spooie. I'm really liking it - in most cases it's better than the CC.

Pros:
1. Usually much more comfortable than the CC (see Con #1).
2. Excellent d-pad. I actually prefer it to the CCs.
3. Wireless and small.
4. No annoying octagonal things around the analog sticks like every Nintendo product has. This means that you don't get the sticks stuck in one position if you push them all the way. Now if only there were a nunchuck like this...
5. Remappable buttons are a godsend. Why don't official controllers have this feature?
6. Rumble is surprisingly good - on par with the GC controller, and can be turned off to save battery power.

Cons:
1. For some reason there are some weird indents on the grips so that it's hard/uncomfortable to keep your index fingers on the shoulder buttons. Other than that, it's much more comfortable than the CC.
2. The analog sticks sometimes don't respond immediately - you have to push them a bit farther than with the CC before they register. I've only noticed this on the VC though, when playing SSBM it wasn't a problem.
3. Face buttons are a bit weak - no resistance at all. This isn't really noticeable once you start playing, though.
4. Conversely, the shoulder buttons feel sort of hard to press, probably due to the analog functionality. If you're playing a shoulder-button-heavy game like Starfox or Sin & Punishment you may want to use the CC instead. Still better than the GC controller though.
5. The dongle (what a great word) flashes constantly if the controller is turned off, even when the Wii is on standby. I unplug my dongle when I'm not using it. Heh, "unplug my dongle".
6. Kind of weird that it requires 3 AAAs instead of 2 or 4 AAs.

I haven't used the turbo feature as I've been mostly playing TG-16 games with it anyway, and the slow feature is the awful press-start-repeatedly function that older controllers had.
Overall, for 20 or even 25 bucks I'd heartily recommend it if you don't have a CC. If you do have a CC, it's only worth it if you want to remap buttons to more easily play games with weird button layouts.
