TI-85 Emulator for the Nintendo DS
Posted by Michael on 23 April 2005, 04:43 GMT

A fellow by the name of David Rorex has ported "an old DOS TI calculator emulator to the [Nintendo] DS," according to his project page. Information is currently very sparse, as it is not a completed work. There are a few major problems as well: He doesn't cite the name of the emulator he is using, he makes the cardinal sin of packaging a 85 ROM with the emulator, and his port is apparently still buggy. However, those of you with a Nintendo DS can try this by downloading the binary and loading it on a GBA flash cart. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to get over the fact that people don't mean Detached Solutions when they say "DS".

The link is to the guy's site and here's a pic of it. What do you guys think?
Forget 83 and 85 where is the 89T? :p
:applause:

I totally agree. It would give me more incentive to buy the system if one did come out
The thing with an 89, is its often banned from using for quizes and tests because of its capabilities.
Ah, but I have yet to see them ban a DS from quizzes/tests
Any news on a 100% working SNES emulator?

I hope the DS can get one before the PSP....
I doubt that would happen. Since for the DS you would need a DS flash cart, and as far as I know there isn't one yet. The PSP all you need is the UMD disc.

Yes, but with UMD sony controls everything to do with the format. No one else is able to or allowed to produce them. A DS flash cart would be easier to get than an unapproved UMD.

I was under the assumption that the GBA/GBASP could play SNES ROMS (not at full speed or something) put onto a GBA flash cart, so in theory the DS could play it as well, no?

And logic would dictate that rewriteable DS carts would be out before a consumer-oriented UMD burner.

They already have something called a passme or passthrough that allows you to run software that takes advantage of the ds hardware using a gba flash card. here's a site that's going to be offering one soon -

http://www.neoflash.com/

if you look at the ti85 emulator site, there are links to similar passme's or passthroughs...

Or onto the memory stick.

Thats what I meant. Not sure why I said UMD...i meant memory stick. I've already seen a NES emulator on the PSP.

I've never heard of the passthrough thing. Hopefully a working SNES emulator comes out soon since I haven't used my GBA flash cart in a while.

Holy crap, I know the guy making this! We were in Honors Geometry together about 6 years ago. Last I heard he was either at MIT or Caltech. Awesome to see that he's applying his skills to something great :).
