TIME reporting possible Gamestop.com security breach

ShadowAssassin

CAGiversary!
Not a deal, but important enough to post here IMO.

They are investigating possible CC numbers, exp. dates, and CCV numbers stolen between Sept 2016 and Jan 2017.

Monitor your stuff just in case.

good thing they screwed me online so many times with their broken ass used games many years ago that I never shop with them and my card is still safe

For just $15 for the year you get this magazine, discounts on used games and we distribute your identity and all your information to the highest bidder.

The only credit card I might have used there is my wifes Target card.  Everyone already has that number so I should be good.  Actually if I did it would have been in March of 2016 so really should be good either way.

No, nothing is so important to break the rules.  There is a news section, for news, which this is news.  Getting my credit card info stolen and my card used to cost me money (even if the CC company will fix it) is the furthest from a deal.  I hope they steal your card information and your home and cars and you are broke and destitute.  Then maybe you will learn your lesson and follow the rules.

Well, if someone stole my information, at least they'll receive it covered in fingerprints inside a pre-opened case plastered with sticker goo.

That's so Gamestop.

You sound like you are a joy to be around. Anyone this anal about the rules (especially rules of an online forum) must have had all the fun sucked out of them years ago. What a sad existence they must lead.

Who peed in this dude's cereal this morning?
Your mom and she was paid well for her services.

Your mom did and she was paid well for her services.

Hm... that might explain those stupid emails I get that my order is under review whenever I order from GS. It seems like that started around the time they got hacked.

Also, Discover randomly sent me a new card a month or two ago saying "we learned of a potential breach at a merchant I used" and sent me a new card. I'm guessing GS is said merchant.

This dude calls the police to inform them of jaywalkers.

Do they store cc info, when you use guess checkout?
Probably not permanently, but the articles are saying the reported info they found for sale included CVV2 numbers, which aren't saved with the credit card data...which suggests that instead of stealing the customer database, they were skimming order information as it was placed. So, if they were intercepting orders as they were placed, guest checkout orders are probably included.

God dammit, I am sick to fucking death of all these retailers getting hacked and having to change my payment information at every auto-bill site I use (Netflix, etc) every time this shit happens.
