NEW YORK (CNN) - Time Inc. announced Thursday it would turn over the subpoenaed records from journalist Matt Cooper regarding the leak of a CIA operative's name, even though it "strongly disagrees" with the court order.

Cooper and Judith Miller of the New York Times were facing up to four months in jail for refusing to reveal their confidential sources in the matter to a grand jury, after the U.S. Supreme Court Monday refused to hear an appeal in the case.

I hope somebody high up goes down for this (cough*KarlRove*cough)

When Time can leak the name of a CIA operative in an article that means someone in the CIA is fucking up. We already have too many concerns about National Security secrets being found out so if people are telling on agents there is no telling what other secrets they will let loose.

That's the key MBE. He just had the name told to him by the reporters being charged. He didn't have contact with the actual leakers. At least that's my understanding.

I just want to see someone associated with this Adminstration go down for something...is that really too much to ask?

He didn't do anything that he can be charged with but to leak the information and put a CIA agent's life in danger is uncontienable.

A hundred years ago he would have been hanging from a tree.

And right beside him would be swinging Dick "The Turban" Durbin, Charlie Rangol, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and 5 Supreme Court justices.

What's your point.

He isn't the one that knew the leakers.

I'm not saying Novak should be locked up (at least for this) but somebody at the White House leaked Plame's identity to possibly six reporters. Novak was the first to publish a column outing her. After that Judith Miller published an article disclosing Plame's CIA ties as well. Cooper never published anything regarding Plame but I believe he was one of the 6 reporters originally contacted by the source.

I'm just curious why Novak hasn't been threatened with contempt for not revealing his source since he was the first to break the story. Maybe he has secretly squealed already.

We need to enforce anti-treason laws.

The only problem is I don't think there is a tree big enough for the reverend Jerry "God caused 9/11 because America loves fags" Falwell.

Whenever quack makes a dumb post, I can always count on PAD to blow away quack's post with his own stupidity.

Link? Source? I've not heard this version of the story before, only the "man, that creepy old guy's suspiciously quiet, ain't he?" stories. I don't buy any story that involves Novak not being in the know. He's simply too connected in DC to be oblivious.

On the other hand, Novak did call for CBS to reveal their sources during "Rather-gate."

I wish I still had that footage: "So, Mr. Novak, do you think all reporters should reveal their sources?"

Hey, shit for brains. What part of "that's my understanding" did you take for THIS IS CUT AND STONE IRREFUTABLE FACT YOU CANNOT QUESTION???

So, Captain Crabbypants, you're upset because I questioned a remark you made that was clearly questionable? What did you expect?

Unless you made up that story on your own, you read or heard it somewhere, did you not? Under that presumption, I figured I would ask you for a source. Excuse the shit out of me if you want to make claims with nothing to support it. What, are you fuckin' Ed Klein all of a sudden?

temper, temper. At least you don't have to go watch the two worst teams in the National League duke it out tonight. It's gonna be like watching Iron Mike Sharpe take on SD Jones in a 45-minute match. egads!

myke.
...seriously, what's with your fucking aggression? Why not just NOT say things that you cannot support?

Well my thoughts on this are that it isn't Time's place to disclose the notes et al but rather only THAT reporters and Time is overstepping it's bounds. At least the NYT is respecting Judith Millers choice here.
Cheapy did you see the "dontblamemeivotedforkerry.com/" one? That has some funny bumper stickers there.
Edit: SHIT that isn't the right site, it doesn't have all the bumper stickers. Ok got it. It's "dontblamemeivoted4kerry.com/" instead.

That's some of the most ignorant shit I've ever read. (the bumper stickers)

Depends on your views Rich. I think the "Prolife" one is a fair critisizm my dad has brought up a couple times. I mean some of those same "Prolife" people are also pro Death Penalty. I find the irony and hypocrisy very evident here. Also the Iran one is a valid critisizm given that some people keep implying this is a Christian nation when it's believed the Founding Fathers were Deists and even if they weren't the idea this country was founded as a Christian nation is certainly arguable.
Another critisizes how the GOP tries to act as if it OWNS religion, as if to say if you're not a Republican or Conservative you're not Christian. The list goes on. Granted I can see where you can bitch at SOME of them.

Which one. Give me an example.

This should be fun to see what Bush myths you believe in.

This bumper sticker is a fairly stupid blanket statement, especially because the Dems seem to have no plans for orchestrating the survival of this great nation (and I don't think Republicans care about the fittest, just the most wealthy)

The other two were fairly funny though (I especially like that crack about thinking not being allowed to think in church  )

I agree they're funny, but they're still ignorant.
