timesplitters FP for $19.99 (in store only) target

Good find. I played this for the first time the other day and it was kind of fun. Could you put Target in the thread title (and you could even put the target symbol in there too!).

Very very fun game, add 3 other friends and ur all set. Get 4 systems... you're in for a blast. Its a really fun game, pretty decent gfx. It feels more like an expansion pack to Timesplitters 2. Both games are good.

Thanks OP!

Should I get the XBox or GameCube version? I tend to support the GameCube versions of games but I vaguely remember the Cube version was supposed to be pretty buggy. Can anyone confirm?
the ps2 version is $49.99 :whistle2:( only gc and xbox are ringing up $19.99
I'll just wait for it to become a greatest hits or a real price drop...it has to happen sometime...right?

Or I'll just get GC version and trade it to someone for the PS2 version.

I still have Timesplitters 2 from the $5 Circuit City sale 2 years ago sealed. I never got around to playing it. I quess I should try it out before jumping on this deal.
I'll go check tomorrow and see if the PS2 version is $19.99 since thats the only version I'd pay money for.
What's that supposed to mean? The ps2 and xbox versions are basically the same except that the xbox one may have slightly better graphics and quicker loading times... I don't get it. :whistle2:/

It's made it to the $19.99 point that I said I'd jump on it.

If BB gets it in at $19.99, I can take back the Target copy back within 45 days, if this turns out to be a permanent drop somewhere along the way.

Does the XBOX version let you download custom maps and stuff? I thought I read that somewhere. If so then that's nigh-endless replayability right there.

It does indeed. That was one of the draws of the game, custom maps.

yep - I'd pick this up again for $20 :D

Well...

1. I like the PS2 controller better

2. I dont care about load times

3. All my friends are online with the PS2 version

and the most important one................

4. I dont have an Xbox anymore ;)

love this series, but if the previous two are any indicator, it's not going GH, except for the fact that it's now published by EA. they have a habit of spawning GH titles.

This game is definitely worth $20. It was worth $50 when it came out. Great game and a great series. IMO, it beats the snot out of Halo.

I hope this is universal and not a YMMV. TimeSplitters 2 dropped wicked fast, and this has been at 49.99 since March. Which is a long time when other EA published titles drop 10-30 dollars in a few months.

Hmmm...I haven't heard anything like that...so I checked IGN and GameSpy (I was a little worried since I just got it in the TRU B2G1), and neither of them mentioned bugginess. It was rated a little lower on IGN, but as far as I can tell, that's just because it's not online.

It must of been another game I was thinking about. I checked on Gamespot and confirmed your findings that the only reason the GC version scored a little lower was lack of online support.

No... I remember reading something in the IGN mailbag about it locking up once in a while. It was this game, but I guess it isn't that big of a deal since it isn't in the reviews.

Maybe you were thinking about Prince of Persia: Warrior Within? Maybe? I've read that the Gamecube version is the buggiest of the three, where there is a point that it locks up and you're not able to finish the game.
Can anyone recommend the PS2 version over the GCN version or vice-versa? Is the GCN controller awkward for this game?
I've use the GCN controller for Timesplitters 2 and I had no problem at all. It actually worked pretty good, where I prefered it to the Xbox controller (though, I haven't played it on the PS2).

No, I was thinking about Timesplitters: FP. Here's the link to that mailbag article:

Timesplitters 2 is a PC for GC, so there's always hope.

Even so, I expect a Drop with in the next few weeks.

Great game, great online community even for the PS2. The number fo players that were on at launch is no where near the same these days (it is one of the few titles I have actually bought at launch -- thanks to a great EB trade-in deal), but the game is strong with good Single and MP modes. Classic TS gameplay now with online -- not much more in is life is needed. Has arcade and challenge modes, and it is now easier to unlock new characters than previous games (a silver medal is all that is needed in this one).

Now with more monkeys than ever!!!

Good support for EAs online features is top notch -- the only downside is sometimes the mic sounds a little rough. Also do yourself a favor and never, ever play with SNABO, as he is the cheat king -- god knows why EA won't boot him.

TS:FP is a great game. It's charming, it's funny, the action's great, and it's got a huge variety to it. It's one of my favorite shooters of the last few years, and though Cortez looks like Vin Diesel, he's a much more endearing and interesting character. Loved it.

Awesome deal! Snagged a GameCube copy this afternoon. This is the first Target deal that has EVER worked for me from CAG, my local Target is awful. This one almost didn't work - it was piled in with a bunch of reduced price XBox games. So if you don't see it on the normal shelves, keep hunting.

Thanks, OP!

I look everytime I go in. My Target, though, only seems to have about 4 GC games....wait, I might try the brand new one!
If anyone could get me a cheap copy of it for Xbox, Id be careful. I checked the local Targets without luck :/
You'd be careful?

You mean grateful?

I'll check the Target near me.

I called several stores around the Cleveland area and they don't carry it. It's just as well since I wouldn't have any time to play it anyways (and I still haven't played TimeSplitters 2 yet).

On the second level of TS:FP for the Cube, I was surprised to see that in co-op story mode, whenever a player passes a semi-checkpoint (i.e. an unlabeled, internal-to-the-game checkpoint where it maybe has to insta-load a new portion of the map, or something), the other character is transported to that same checkpoint regardless of where in the level they are. Is that a unique experience with the game? Has it happened to other GC players? Players on other systems? If it is a common problem, does it exist past level 2? I wonder if this is related to the bugginess described in that IGN link.

I can confirm that this deal is active as of yesterday. I went to the Greenville, SC Target and purchased the sole remaining copy for Xbox. It's pretty good, I already had TS2 and loved it. The price sticker in the case read $49.99 so I was happy when it scanned at $19.99.
I was surprised to see that in co-op story mode, whenever a player passes a semi-checkpoint the other character is transported to that same checkpoint regardless of where in the level they are
This probably occurs when the level does not fit entirely into memory and once you hit the checkpoint it has to load the rest of the level. Since your partner's on the same machine, it has to bring them up to where you are. This also occurs on Halo 1 and 2 during Co-Op

Same story as Lord Alfred right here... it was clearly marked $49.99. I told the cashier that I heard it was on sale and had him ring it up. What's interesting is that he said "nope, it's the normal price - $19.99." So whatever he was looking at on the computer must have indicated that this was the normal price, not just a sale. So he was expecting me to be disappointed, but then I explained to him that the game was $50 last week. He was just like "wow, that's a great buy."

Anyway I'll be up for some XBL action in a little while, after I take a shower and settle in (I just got home). Who's game?

Hehe...yes, I meant grateful. If anyone can get an Extra Xbox copy, I would be grateful. My local store had the Gamecube and PS2 ones...damn them! I need the Xbox one

Would you mind telling me which Target you checked? I'd like to cross that one of my list as I'd like to find a GC copy pretty badly. I can tell you that the Florence, KY target only has Players' Choice and 90-days-from-release-date GC games in stock, so don't bother there. My girlfriend lives on the westside, so I am going to try Colerain and Western Hills soon, unless you've checked there.

Thanks.
