Tips When Buying Video Games

Someone needs to write a guide for how to walk into the house with two huge Gamestop bags full of games and accessories and not have the wife begin questioning my fiscal responsibility and commitment to owning our own home oneday. ;)

This is the most worthless thing I've ever read. And it's somewhat wrong. Renting is cheap at only $4-8? I'm sorry, but $8 can oftentimes buy you halfway to a game. Hell, Dragon Quest VIII was $10 to buy a week ago...

 That's what I was just going to comment on. I've gotten probably a third of my collection under the rental cost.

And I like how they offer the idea of selling your games quickly, and then renting them if you need them again. After two rentals, you may as well have kept the damn game.

And there's the whole "Oh! Blockbuster actually doesn't carry Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga... you'll have to get that on Ebay" and you end up paying like 150% of what you would've paid otherwise.

Relax fellas - this is an open forum.

Thanks OP for posting the link - if nothing else it's good insight into how other people find the most value for their gaming buck.

Just do what I do: Sneak them in and don't play them in front of her. Then, when she inevitably catches you playing it and asks if you got a new game you can say that you have had it for a while without being a liar.

That's exactly what I do. You gotta admit it's hard, though, not to play the shiny, new game you've been wanting for a while. I guess I'm used to it, though. It goes all the way back to getting new Nintendo games from my mom and having to wait until after dinner and homework was done to play.

Yeah I do that sometimes. But we live in a tiny 1 bdr apt, so it can be hard to sneak in if shes home. Luckily last night she was crackin on WoW when I got back so she hardly noticed, plus I distracted her with these Parrot Bay rum/wine cooler things I picked up on the way home.

But my Xbox is in the same room as her PC, and I was itchin to test my xbox games I just bought, so I really couldnt hide. But I made another smooth move, I bought her a game. "Look baby, Chronicles of Riddick!" (she loves Vin Diesel) She took a look, saw the $6.99 sticker, knew it was buy 2 get 1 free and nodded her head approvingly. A winner is ME!

Then I snuck off to the other room to make sure the other big bag of PS1& PS2 stuff works... hehehehe
