They've been running this for the past couple hours on cartoon network. The new series is pretty good, and remains true to the original comics.

heh... scooter..... lame.

i cant really stnad the new series, prob cuz i just loved everything about the characters in the old one. no ancovies, ppizza every day, skateboarding, cowbunga..... plus the theme song, so much crappier now. is there a plan to release and ninja turtles on dvd (like seasons)

A little less emphasis on the pizza, they're just more like regular teens, not as many comercial chatch phrases to sell toys by.

It's more focused on story.

Wal-mart had season 1 for like $9 a few months ago. It was only on one DVD.

someone bought me a dvd of the new series for my birthday a while ago. i could barely even watch it after hearing what they did to the theme song.

I prefer this waaay more to the old series, it actually feels more like the original miniseries that played before the regular series started.

They actually USE their weapons now, how can you not like that?

Main Problem: The Voices.

They all sound the same.
The voice actors defined the originals, but now they sound (and look) like each other.

The voices kinda remind me of the movies. It's got the 'semi brooklyn' Rapheal, and Mike attempted a cowabunga atleast once, he's still the goofy/comic book reading one.

I think even though they didnt get the same voice actors they did a good job of splitting the differeance between the movie and the old series.

I tell ya, the old original episodes that were on back in the 90's were just awesome, I still can't really get myself to watch these new ones though.

I'll admit, a lot of the stuff in the 90's started getting silly after a while. It was all in fun, though, so I gotta love it. But this new series just doesn't capture that fun that the original did. A lot of it, I think, has to do with that awful new theme song. It would almost make me cry, if I weren't a big, tough, pizza eatin' ninja. :)

I think the other problem is that the original TMNT had the most awesome arcade beat-'em-up game EVER! I don't know any game I spent more quarters on. (OK, technically, if it hadn't been a free play day, I would have spent more beating The Simpsons, but it was free, so... there ya go.) But the game for the new TMNT just seems weak. It's not bad, but it's nowhere near as much fun as the original.
i loved the turtles but havnt seen the new one. are the turtle movies (123) on dvd yet
Yeah, in fact, I've seen a box set of all three at Target. There's not much as far as extras, but I keep thinking about buying it. Of course, it reminds me of the shame that was the Ninja Rap. *shudder*

How could the theme song have that large of an impact? Isn't it like 20 seconds..?

I like the new series just as much as the old one, but I haven't really been able to find the time to keep up with the series.

It's probably just me, but a lot of times, the theme song affects my mood towards the show. When I've tried to watch the new TMNT, that opening song just ticks me off, and puts me in a sour mood towards the show. I'm sure that if I really wanted to watch the new show, I could just mute the song, and the problem would be averted, but I guess I'd rather keep my memories of the original.

It's kinda like that with some anime for me, too. Evangelion kept sucking me in with it's catchy theme song, and then it just kept sucking. :) (I know, I'm a bad anime fan for hating Evangelion. So sue me.)

.... if you REEEEALY get down to it both of the themes have their corniness....

Original lyrics (1987)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, (3X)
Heroes in a half shell. Turtle power!

There the world's most fearsome fighting team, (we're really hip)
they're heroes in a half shell and they're green. (hey get a grip)
When the evil Shredder attacks,
Those turtle boys don't cut 'em no slack.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Splinter taught them to be ninja team, (he's a radical rat)
Leonardo lead's, Donatello does machines. (that's a fact jack)
Raphael is cool but crude,
Raphael: (give me a break)
Michelangelo is a party dude.
Michelangelo: (party)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, (3X)
Heroes in a half shell. Turtle power!

New lyrics (2003)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Turtles count it off!
One, Two, Three, Four!
(Turtles!) Mutant chain reaction.
(Turtles!) Livin' underground.
(Turtles!) Ninjitsu action.
(Turtles!) It's a shell of a town!
Turtles count it off!
(One!) Live by the code of the martial arts.
(Two!) Never fight unless someone else starts.
(Three!) Always stick together no matter what.
(Four!) If all else fails then it's time to KICK BUTT!
I love bein' (I love bein')
I love bein' (I love bein')
I love being a Turtle!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Turtles count it off!
One, Two, Three, Four!
(Turtles!) There's no one better.
(Turtles!) "Watch out for Shredder!"
(Turtles!) They're like no others.
(Turtles!) Those teenage brothers.
One, Two, Three, Four!
One, Two, Three, Four!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

I wouldnt be suprised if they were written by the same person, more than 15 years apart.

My little brother loved the old series but I was never into it because I had been reading the comics back then. Shredder got beheaded in the comics, so you can see why I thought the show was too silly. Even Eastman and Laird weren't fans of the old show. I love the new show though. Peter Laird is involved, it actually uses toned down comic story lines, and it takes shots at the old sereies, like in early episodes, each time Mikey tries a "Cowabunga," Raph hits him or pushes him before he gets it out.

Oh, I agree with you that both songs were pretty corny. There's just something about the newer song I don't like. I'm not even really sure what it is I don't like.

I wouldn't be too surprised, either.

yeah the old show wasn't that great. I think only the first episodes where any good. I think they toned it down later in the shows life. I remember they gave Michelangelo a hook instead of his nunchuks. And Leo Never cut anything with his swords.

I've only seen one episode of the new show but it was decent.
