First of all, I love my state to a certain degree, but this kind of shit pisses me off to no end. I even tend to favor myself as moderate on the issue in a "live and let live" sort of way, but you're crossing the motherf*cking line when you start doling out subversive amendments under the guise of "we need to be open to other theories concerning the age of the universe," when you've got your hand down your skirt rubbing a bible on your labia.

There's a lot about science that demands constant re-evaluation and study, otherwise we'd still believe veins were full of air and flies spontaneously appeared in feces and rotting carcasses (things that were legitimately believed at some point in human history). But let's face the damn facts - we can pretty easily point out things with relative assurance, and the age of the universe (give or take some years) is one of them.

On the other side of the coin, there's no argument that can be religiously stated that can defeat that. None. I've heard them all, and they are all wrong, and I'm amazed that there's even a discussion(s) going on. "Maybe God made things with age." That's the best one I've seen in recent years, and even THAT is ridiculous, because it defeats the entire idea of God being omnibenevolent, since creating things with age simply to fool people isn't exactly the hallmark of a just being. Much like the argument of "Where was God on 9/11?" when all the forwarded e-mails were talking in this flowery language about things like "God held up the building so people could escape," which implied at some point he got bored or turned weak and sent it tumbling below. In short: you don't even realize your arguments are actually destroying every last possible shred of thought regarding your deity.

So f*ck that noise. Where's the public discussion on this? Where's the uproar? I see nerds at Digg.com throwing a circlejerk party to make themselves feel superior, but that doesn't solve shit. Take your ego balms elsewhere, preferably up your ass.

It suddenly seems like there's nothing more to say other than - again - some nonsense about appeasing those with different viewpoints. You want to tell your kids the universe is 6000 years old? Fine. Hell, I wouldn't really mind the teacher halfheartedly saying, "Other people believe differently" and leaving it at that. Criminy. But taking it into a tax-backed educational campus and having teachers say it because you're too much of a shitty parent to actually talk with your children when the government can do it for you? Choke on your bodies of Christ.

Also, please remind me why I can't attack Bristol Palin. "She's just a kid." fuck THAT. The moment you are in the spotlight, you prepare for the assault and inquiry and scrutiny, and too bad if it's purely because your redneck mama shot a damn moose and then said she totally knew the king of Russia, or whatever other dumb shit crawled out of her mouth. I guess I can cut them some slack since she was picked via the equivalent of drunk dialing your ex, so you didn't really have time to prepare, but this aint November no mores.

So double fuck THAT if you're going to go around a few months later and be a mouthpiece for something that not only have you demonstrated to be bullshit policy at best, but then TO CHAMPION IT. Let's wake up and stop kidding ourselves - we glorify sex, it's all over the place, there's no turning back, I'm thinking about it RIGHT NOW. It infests every last corner of media and entertainment, and Freud believed our entire lives are devoted to the pursuit of it. These people who talk about abstinence with one hand and then turn around and refuse alternative methods are insane.

That redneck who knocked her up might be a tool, but he at least came out today and said that we need more than abstinence (even if it did sound like he was reading a script).

Yeah, my damn head hurts. I wanted to rant. About politically charged subjects. I'd do it on a blog on here, but maybe I wanted other people to actually read these words.

Want to "actually" read Strell's political thoughts and rage? There's an app for that.
How is it 6,000 years old if there was no Texas prior to 1845?

I'm corn-fused.
2009 - 1845 = 6000? :whistle2:k

Neither science nor math are strong Texas subjects?
Neither science nor math are strong Texas subjects?
You have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.

Just sayin'.

Liquid is right.

Texas has amazing facilities when it comes to colleges and infrastructures in the realms of science, medicine, computer technology, agriculture, aerospace, and engineering sciences.

Not quite right to let this school level idiocy cast a shadow over the fantastic colleges and universities available here.
I heard they just ordered the new textbooks:

They're not smart enough to do that.

Which one forced you to cheat?

Found it on wiki:

One book, Inside UFO 54-40, revolved around the search for a paradise that no one can actively reach; one of the pages in the book describes the player finding the paradise and living happily ever after, although none of the choices in the book led to that page. The ending could only be found by disregarding the rules and going through the book at random. Upon finding the ending, the reader is congratulated for realizing how to find paradise.

Strell you really ought to learn to type out your opinions in thought out concise statements. People might actually read them. Enough said.

Everyone knows Texas calculates everything in caliber anyways. Maybe the exchange rate for years -> calibers equals 6000?

Anyhoo, Strell - mail me some Which Wich.
If I wanted simple people to read my complex thoughts, I'd write them in ways for the stupid to understand.
Didn't read that; too wordy.
No one missed you, pittpizza; just go away and stop posting. Forever this time.
Be nice. He just got out of jail for indecent exposure.

He had her open the box and she called the cops.

Yeah be nice liquid. Who made you spokesperson for everybody anyway?

Maybe since you didn't miss me, you think no one did. Maybe you think your opinion is the only one that matters??
LoL pittpizza welcome back.
Hmmm??

I could see left thinking on the second subject (even though the argument is more about the facts speaking to the total failure of abstinence only education), but the first? You can't be serious.

Well the only people that generally oppose what you talked about first are pretty right-wing people, so in a sense - yes it's a left viewpoint.

It was a fun read though, I'm just twisting your nipples.

Maybe since you didn't miss me, you think no one did. Maybe you think your opinion is the only one that matters??
My opinion certainly isn't the only one, but, judging from the posts in this thread that have accompanied your glorious return, I think it's safe to say that it's the most commonly held one.

Worth watching.

But, I think until traditional scientific theory can explain how things got here, there should be intelligent discussion of all models. Otherwise we are just sticking our heads in the sand and running with the theory that fails to explain the most important part of how the universe began. It may be correct, but it may be incorrect, too.

I'll save somebody the keystrokes.

YOU'RE AN IDIOT!

In the history of all species, you are the dumbest.

Everybody knows the correct origin of everything is the Darwin-Tompkins Theory Variant 2 Revision 6.3a.

Until you accept it, there is nothing else to discuss.
...accompanied your glorious return, ...
Ah ha! So you admit that my return is glorious! J/k, I know you were being sarcastic. I really don't think it is the most commonly held opinion though. Seriously I don't. I'll admit that some of my posts are just ridiculous and meant to do nothing other than just scrap it up and get some fighting going. I enjoy it. Sue me.

The overwhelming majority of my posts are probative and thoughtful. I almost always stay on topic, avoid flaming, and always try to write clearly using proper grammar. When active, I'm one of the more active members in the vs. forums and often add some good insight into the topics at hand.

Tell me liquid, are you right-leaning? I ask b/c if you are, then you probably would not miss my opinions or posts around here. If you are moderate or left, however, and my posts/return still pisses you off, well then I guess that makes me extra special.

I thought this thread was about Strell anyway. Enough about me, lets talk about her.

Back on topic:
As to Ben Stein's movie, it makes some good points. I don't agree, but I do admit that his arguments are at the very least thought provoking, albeit not convincing to me personally.
Where does the proper separation of church and state lay? What about prayer in schools? So long as it is voluntary? So long as no teachers take place? So long as every religion has the same "prayer privileges." Are we to build mosques and temples and hand out prayer rugs in schools?

Some of these questions are easily answered, others not so much.

I still love the phrase (I forget where I heard it) "So long as there are midterms, there will always be prayer in school!"

Awww. Obsession is so cute. And it's a good trait to have, what with all the ambulance chasing your career is destined to be full of.
