Just posting a link to the vid about the upcoming auction of all games, property, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9QzWK4WjCs

The auction supports the owner who now is drowning in debt after the building flooded out this winter. Sad stuff.

Was wondering if anyone else from CAG use to frequent this place? It was quite a haul for me so I only made a few trips out there. The last time I went was when they got Street Fighter 4 I think in October-ish.

woww, that's sad. i hope a good arcade like funspot in nh buys up a lot of these. last time i went to funspot (2 years ago) they didn't have much for new machines. if they carried some imports that would be awesome!

might check it out with my friend for the hell of it. if anything, i'd try to pick up some posters or toys and promo items.

I think Funspot wants to keep the 90's and before feel so I doubt they would get anything new. Newest thing there I remember being Darkstalkers arcade game.

TGA was awesome though. Closest thing to a real Japanese arcade I've been to and there was no suffering through the visibly thick 2nd hand smoke of the real thing.

Theres a 75% chance I'll be there at the auction. I've been eyeing arcade units on CL for the longest time, and I'm hoping to pick something nice up at the auction.

The circumstances suck though, really.

how did the flood end up putting him in debt? do you know the details? did he not have insurance or what? what was ruined etc etc.

I followed it on the website but he never divulged into many details (at least on the front page or large postings). I was never a very active member I use to just check in on the website every once in a while looking for the next free play day, seeing when SF4 was going to be in, etc.

I'm assuming it had to do with not having the correct insurance or something. I believe it was mentioned that he was now down about $500K, etc.

They had a couple Japanese Sega games there last time I went a couple years ago. I think Fun Spot has gained more attention from King of Kong coming out and mentioning their annual arcade competitions. The arcades in Weir Beach and Hampton Beach also have quite a bit of games, also.

I feel arcades still have money to be made, just that a lot of them refocused on those goddamn quarter-eater ticket prize machines and not games. Unfortunately, a lot of them only buy those sorts of things now.

Though, Ryan Family Amusement in Raynham appears to have the new Guitar Hero arcade unit. I think if they made a Rock Band arcade unit with heavy-duty drums/etc I think it'd be a hit.

How did the auction go? Anyone there? I ended up staying back in NY and not checking it out. Too much stuff going on right now. I'd love to hear some CAG feedback.
Anybody? I'd like to know the prices some of the stuff went for. Can't find anything online.
Hey there, I'm the narrator on the video.

The auction went well from what I heard. The candy cabs were being sold in groups with games and they were going for 800-1200 depending on the type of machine and what game was installed.

From what I heard a majority of the damage came from the sprinkler system. When the heat went out, the pipes froze over and the overhead sprinklers went off throughout the place. The ceilings were gone from the two major rooms, but they were able to fix up all the games and I'm pretty sure they sold well.

I didn't hear a final total for everything, but I hope they were able to break even. As I said in the video, my friends and I have been going all over the east cost looking for arcades and it's a shame to see a place that finally gets it right loose everything to a flood.

Hey, I was wondering why insurance didn't seem to cover the problems? I'd imagine that insurance would cover that type of thing. Andy never seemed to go into much information on the website about it and me just being mostly a lurker on there and only going to TGA a handful of times - I didn't want to ask on the message board especially when he seemed so emotionally drained. I think he mentioned that he owed like 500K after the damages. That just seems insane to me.
