Is anyone here interested in the Wii version of this game ?

The inclusion of Mini-games seems to be tyring to compensate for the no dual analog control scheme .

Could be good , I'm waiting for reviews myself .

What do you CAGs think ?

I actually passed over this game and decided to wait for the Wii version but it's overall score is lower than other versions on GameRankings, which has me worried.

I've been meaning to try it out somehow but I don't know anyone who owns it.

I might get the PC version since Legend worked out so well on the PC.

I bought it, but haven't played it yet. Tomb Raider Anniversary (in concept) didn't really interest me... until I found out about the Wii version. The main complaint about the Wii version seems to be that its camera controls are wonky compared to other versions. To me that's really no big deal -- I've never played a Tomb Raider that even had camera control. Back in my day, we went on just fine without it! The other complaint seems to be that Tomb Raider doesn't stack up against games like Sands of Time and etc. That doesn't bother me either.

It also looks like reader scores are a lot more favorable than critics. For example, IGN gives the game a 7.0, but its readers give the game an 8.7.

I bought it, and honestly, as a big TR fan, I think this is the finest game in the series based on my early experience with it - the Wii version specifically. It's pure vintage Tomb Raider gameplay, through and through...tons of platforming, tons of large puzzle/switch areas to keep you on your toes, and some shooting to fill in the cracks.

While the camera often feels close-to-broken, the Wii version happens to have an EXCELLENT means of camera adjusting (holding C and moving the pointer - or just pressing C to reset back to behind Lara). So after you play the game for 15 minutes, the camera is no longer an issue - it's so easy to position it exactly how you want it, or to just naturally reset back to behind Lara when things get wonky.

Shooting feels excellent. Aiming is smooth, and is certainly a nice touch compared to just locking a target and pressing a button. Locking the camera on a target is quick and easy, and using the Nunchuk gesutre to dodge an enraged enemy feels completely natural.

I'm still pretty early into it, but the little puzzles that make use of the Wiimote functionality so far have been OK. Not great, but a nice added touch...something I prefer to have than NOT to have.

So yeah, overall, one of the finest purchases I've made this year. All of the gestures and Wiimote usages are so finely done that it feels completely like a ground-up Wii title, and that's the truth (though, graphically, while it looks totally fine, it's essentially identical to the PS2 build). It's a shame this has led to some hit-or-miss reactions from reviewers, but I personally wish every Wii developer gave PS2 ports this sort of treatment - to make them FEEL like bona fide 'Wii' titles.

Thanks, Oops! Sounds fun to me.

From previews and interviews it has always seemed the Wii version was intended to be the definitive version. It's unfortunate reviews didn't pan out that way. I held out on the 360 version for the Wii version because the "wii-centric" puzzles sounded more intriguing than achievements.

I'll nab it at some point.

Hmm. Well I picked up the 360 version awhile ago. But sadly because Mario Galaxy.. Zack & Wiki..RE:UC..soon to be Ghost Squad and Trauma Center are holding me hostage...I only did the first few levels.

I was interested in this version..but.. I'm a bit skeptical. Glad to hear that it's not bad with the wii controls. Tomb Raider Legend can be found for like $7 now. Maybe sometime next year, when TR:A for Wii can be found for *

You're in luck! Run out tonight and you can pick it up at any retailer for > $10!

:dunce:
you win!
 Thanks for the correction! *pays $85 for TR:A*

im just gonna wait til Target clears this out for $14 or less on the PC side. The Wii version looks intresting but reviews says the controls are impersice

Im 3/4 of the way thru the 360 version. I forsaked Wii controls for better graphics. This is an awesome game on any system however. Its really one of the best games Ive played all year.

Wasn't there a review out somewhere that said the Wii version didn't work as well as it should have? Eh, either way, I've already got the game on PC. It's excellent.

TR Anniversary is a great game, but I have no interest in the Wii version because I've already played through the PS2 version (which only cost me $15) and I doubt that the new motion controls and puzzles are enough to make me double-dip.

If I were to double-dip, it'd probably be for the PC version so I can play in high-res now that I have a new gaming rig. After all, if there's one reason I buy TR games it's for the beautiful environments. I think that last sentence is gonna end up as a setup for somebody's crude joke.

I've been waiting on the Wii version, and I am still trying to decide which version to get. I'm thinking of going with the Wii, the lock and hit a button shooting in the 360 version of Legend made the action somewhat boring. It sounds like the Wii version fixes this, even if there are some camera issues. I wasn't blown away by the graphics in the 360 version of Legend anyways.

Hey, guys. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Anyway, got a copy of Tomb Raider Anniversary for the Wii yesterday. If you haven't played it on the PS2 or 360, the Wii version is worth a buy. I've only gotten through the first two levels so far, but I didn't have a problem with the controls.

A full review can be found on my site here.

Amazon just marked this game down to $30 a day or two ago. Figures, as less than a week ago I purchased it working around the $40 list price. >.>

I am more than satisfied with this game, though. As far as negatives, that would be frame rate drops in large rooms (which makes no sense to me at all, since the graphics appear identical to the PS2 build), and also rather unintuitive/inconvenient menu selection (accessing the Journal for hints can get tedious, and there is no integrated "Save and Quit" option for some reason)

I've had no problems with the controls once I actually learned them.

Picked this up for $20 on yesterday's DotD. Though it'll be one more week before I get to play it. After reading some reviews for the Wii version and the older ones, it seems the slowdown is a problem on all versions including the xbox360.

Bumping this up with impressions after I finally got a chance to play it.

Pretty much the same game as on PS2 and 360, but now with some wiimote extras + a little more. The wiimote extras including puzzles and dig tools do add (if only a little) to the tomb raider feel of the game. They don't take much time, but are nice to have.

The controls are more or less fine. The grappling has never failed me yet and aiming the guns (although pointless since other versions have auto target) is nice after getting used to the pointing. This also makes close encounters more cumbersome.

Speaking of wiimote pointing, they chose the wrong pointer set up for this game. The developers seemed to up the movement sensitivity of the cursor so its more 1-to-1 pointing (like if you set the sensitivity in Link's CBT to max), rather than normal wii menu sensitivity. This makes the cursor much more finicky, and just takes longer to get used to, but never completely comfortable with.

Still, the game is fun and well implemented on the Wii. Glad I picked it up.

I like them, as they break up the monotony a bit, and the motion-based quick time events are fun. The biggest new addition to the game IMO are the rubbings that you can find, which AFAIK aren't in the other versions of the game.

It seems to me that the game compensates for this by giving you a lot of leeway on the shots -- as long as your reticule is red when you shoot, you'll hit. Still, the lack of auto-aim aim makes the Wii version a bit harder, but then you could interpret that as saying real gamers should master the Wii version. ;)

Finished it the other night at 3:00am, after a 30-minute shootout with the Queen of Atlantis. After I take a break, I'll probably go back and try to improve my times and find more secrets...

Garnett Lee from 1Up called the Wii version "an abortion" on the 1Up podcast - specifically talking about the controls. He also scored it a 7 which doesn't seem to match his comments on the podcast.

Either way, it is nice to hear that it seems like a solid game on the Wii.

Weaksauce. :D

It pisses me off that this did so horribly and it did for people that don't know. I just hope Okami doesn't go the same path, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm getting the ps2 version for sure now. The 360 version wouldn't be worth it because it's not that much of an upgrade graphically, costs more, and is on a system that is likely to break down.

He's wrong, FWIW.

I have to agree with Oops, that statement is, to me, an out and out lie.

Unless the reviewer and I have VASTLY PACIFIC OCEAN-SIZED differences of opinion on controls and how they should work, I honestly can't see how that's true.

This is a great game, don't let anyone deter you from trying it.
