I know 3 & up sucked , hell I didn't even like 2 that much .
I'll have to admit I'm more than interested in Legend with Toby Guard back on board .
Plus check out the villian ,

Yeah, it looks like it could be the first truly good Tomb Raider game (they've had what... 6 or 7 failures so far?), but I'm not excited until I see results.

The problem with those games (besides just the quality in general) is that ever since 3 sucked, every game after has been the developers telling us that they've finally gotten their act together and "this next game" will be a return to greatness. Four or five games later, we're still here.
It's going to have to get some really high reviews before most people will even glance at this game.
I feel the same way. I can't remember an IP in recent years that consistently turned out awful products (not even mediocre) yet remained insanely popular. Even the movies sucked. Everything since Tomb Raider II has basically been a disaster yet Lara Croft is still a gaming "icon" and people still talk about her - it's facinating when you think about it.

I am intrigued by this game but I am very skeptical that they can pull it off. All they have to do is copy God of War every way they can and it can't miss. Imagine a game with better graphics starring Lara Croft that played like God of War but with tombs and catacombs as the backdrop instead of ancient Greece. It seems like a no-brainer.

From what i've seen, it looks decent. I've heard it's going to be pretty great.. but we'll see. As Shipwreck said, I won't pick it up unless it has a ton of great reviews, and even then, eh.

I can't say that I blame you guys for feeling that way .
I think this could be the one that I've (we've) been waiting for .

Only the XBLMP demo will tell for sure .

They should really push this game to try to make a foothold for future tomb raiders on 360, but looking at the graphics, they decided against making it next gen. HOW CAN LARA STILL BE BLOCKY ON 360!!!!

God i hate tomb raider.

Exactly. I'd like to have optimism for the next one, but every new installment they say it's finally good again and then turns out to be even shittier than the last. So while I'd like it to be cool, it probably will not.

However, if it ends up getting reviews of about 8/10 or above, I'll probably buy it.

None of the Tomb Raiders were A+ titles. 2 was the best, and that was a 9/10 at best. Part 1 was essentially PS1s Mario 64 killer, and Mario was 10 times the game. And then everything since part 2 has been below average titles. And TR:L is being released after a series of killer aps for 360, so when the reviews come out we're all going to be broke and busy. Not psyched.

Game looks somewhat promising... but that villain? She looks like a run-of-the-mill crackwhore. Meh.

I do like how Crystal Dynamics has returned to the jungles and tombs instead of placing it within a metropolitan setting.

Correction: The earlier pic looked like a crackwhore... all the other images look a lot better then that one. Good change of pic =)

I was thinking more of a goth heroine junkie type .

Lot of pessimists here but rightly so. I do plan on picking this up ONLY because Crystal Dynamics is spit polishing the control and Toby Gard is back at the helm. I can only hope for the fluid control and strange surprizes (remember the T-Rex scene? OMFG) make it back into this series.

The Driver series must be a close second in terms of diminishing returns per sequel while still maintaining high sales.

I haven't played a Tomb Raider game since the second one. I thought the "steers like a boat" controls were horrible, the combat/aiming system was jacked and the graphics were bland even for their day. The puzzles and 3D platforming was okay, but it wasn't enough to carry the game IMO. Have they fixed these since then?

I'm hoping this'll end up good. Maybe Eidos finally got it right this time. If somebody could do it correctly, Tomb Raider would be a pretty fun game.

When it was announced that Toby Guard was on board for Legend, I admit it caught my interest. The screens and previews look promising, especially today's trailer. I might actually give in and pick this up next week!

More new trailers

I downloaded and enjoyed the PC demo .
If anyone's curious I'd get it , unfortunately I can't recommend a place to get it [I hate fileplanet].
It gives you a pretty good feel for it but the controls (keyboard & mouse) kinda suck .

It's probably great with a wired 360/xp controller .

Played the demo over the weekend and thought it was pretty good. Have some extra GR credit, so I'm deffinately picking this up. Only downside according to the reviews has been that it's too short.

8.2 from IGN, now I may consider buying this game. I also enjoyed the demo so that is also a plus.

I knew this game was gonna be good !

So I played the demo today, all I can say is this game is fucking amazing. I loved the first Tomb Raider and the magic is back. This game deserves a 10 out of 10. I can't wait till April 11th. Excuse while I go play the demo again.

to anybody who played the first tomb raider, doesnt the main villian in legends sort of remind you of the main villian in tomb raider one?

i'm one hopin legends turns out good cause i was, and still am, a big fan of tomb raiders 1 & 2(my personal fav)

sweet! OPM sent me a free magazine with a tomb raider legends demo on it! i enjoyed it, but its very familiar to the other games. the controls are also very familiar to the past games. i was a little turned off by the combat controls, didnt like the lock-on.

So I played this today and it's as great as the demo - even better, actually. Stacked the XBox and 360 version next to each other at GameCrazy and the difference is unbelievable. On the 360 version, you can clearly see dirt on Lara as she rolls around and whatnot.

There's QTE's! You know, Quick Time Events. The button pops up on the screen and you hit it.. it was awesome. Renting it first thing in the morning.

The ONLY thing that sucks really, really bad is that you have to beat certain missions to unlock doors in Lara's mansion.

XBOX 1.5 my ass!!!
I went to buy it yesterday and no stores had it. All the gamestop's claimed to have only recieved enough to fufill pre-orders.
check out your local TRU. we got in a bunch of them for 360 yesterday.

I need to download the demo for this game.

I was gonna get this yesterday, but got BF:2 instead. I say "instead" 'cos I wanted to limit myself to one title this week, and the longevity of BF2 swayed my decision.

6 - 8 hours of gameplay ain't too much for an action-platformer, but the game still looks great.

It's a shame that, lately, the short-coming of most amazing games is the length.

I'll probably make use of PlayAsia with this title, as I don't know if I want to hand over $60 for it. Maybe I'll do some trade-ins.
