Tony Hawk Proving Ground

I wonder if Activision feels threatened by EA's SKATE... Yet another Tony Hawk sequel to be released this year:

Officials from Activision have announced Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, the latest game in the company's long running Tony Hawk skateboarding franchise, which will debut for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo DS later this year.

One Tony Hawk per year is/has been Activision's plan since the series launched. So this is no surprise. I was actually wondering when they would announce the new one and was pleasantly surprised when I got the press release in my email this morning. :)

Thanks for the link. Definitely looks like they're taking the series in a different direction. I wonder how different it will be compared to the others.

EA's Skate looks weak. Graphics are pretty bad.

Really, all I need for my skateboarding fix is a new Tony Hawk.
I just want better graphics. The game is essentially perfect.

I'm glad EA's taking the simulation route though. THPS over the years has been a contest of who can press the most button combinations in the least amount of time for the highest score. It can suck graphically, but from the previews I've read it's shaping up nicely to be a good alternative to THPS.

I hope they make the PS2 version compareable to the next gen versions this year. I haven't opened Project 8 for PS2 yet but the reviews make it sound kind of inferior to the 360 and PS3 versions (no reason for single levels just on PS2 when THAW had the 1 huge level).
