Im just curious. Im about to go purchase a system, and was wondering which of the numerous launch titles are the best, and definitely worth the value (all $X.XX worth of PO games we traded in of it :D ) you put into it.

This could be a guide for everyone, I guess.

Lumines, Wipeout, Tiger Woods

The first two are pretty much universally accepted as the best the system has to offer right now. As far as Tiger Woods, I personally, just love being able to play golf on the go, or even sitting and watching TV or a movie, especially because it takes so little attention.
Bleach?? Is that an import?
Yeah, I couldn't think of 3 good US psp games ;x

out of the 5 games I have:
Metal Gear Acid
Twisted Metal
Lumines
WipEout
DarkStalkers

I'd say pick up Lumines (the one I've spent the most with), WipEout, and depending on your preference...any of the ones will work. If you like Metal Gear, and are interested in a card based stealth game...knock yourself out. If you want a game that can actually go online, hit up Twisted Metal. And a fighting game? Pick up Darkstalkers (I personally have it foudn it hard to do any of the moves with the D-pad like reviewers have said)

I only have Lumines and Wipeout so I'd say those are two of my top 3 favorites. Probably picking up Metal Gear Acid in the near future.

I would say lumines and ridge racer are by far the best games on the PSP.

the next one would probably be either wipeout, thug2, or twisted metal.

for the people that picked lumines and wipeoute only, have you tried ridge racer? I'm guessing that it's only because ridge racer is sold out almost everywhere so you're not able to get your hands on it to try out.

ive still got ridge racer sealed on my shelf cause I've been playing so much wipeout! So, i can't say that wipeout is better, but it is sure is great! Lumines is ok, so is untold legends. Can't wait for Hot Shots though...

I have rented just about every PSP game..

I however own NFS rival, but traded it in a day later...

none of them IMO is a must have game.

I say rent a few, and see wat you like then buy...

Alot of people say lumines, ridge racer & wipeout...

But a few of friends who tryed it didn't like some of them...

Does anyone know if any PSP games had smaller print runs? This is not a rare/valuable question so save it! I just want to know if I need to buy any of these now for when I eventually get a PSP so I don't miss out on them. Lumines is the one I am most worried about since I know sales were lackluster in Japan so maybe they took that into account when they produced the game for the US.

Question to all the wipeout owners.

Besides the browser functionality. Are you enjoying the game ? I have Ridge Racers and am enjoying the hell out of it. Saw the graphics of wipeout and became interested in it. Does anyone have both games ? Are the styles that different that it warrants owning 2 racing games ? I read that u basically have to memorize the maps to get good at it cause theres no map display is this true ?

Asking because Untold Legends is starting to not hold interest for me, and debating picking up another game. As of right now it seems to be Wipeout or MGA.

I would say if you have to choose between ridge racer/wipeout, it would definitely be ridge racer. is it worth getting both? I would say that if MGA is definitely your cup of tea, then you should go for MGA. But wipeout IS part of the trade in deal ;)

I'm in the same boat. I love Lumines and Wipeout, but are starting to tire on me. MGA is back in the I hate this game bracket...I'm going to trade in Ape Escape 'cause it's just pales in comparison to the PS1 version, and Twisted Metal I'm sure will be better once I get online....so I am thinking of getting Ridge Racer....is the element of speed there in the game? Wipeout is great, but it doesn't feel as if you are going fast at all.

ridge racer has a great sense of speed in it, especially when you hit the nitro
I believe ridge racer is faster than wipeout.
Darkstalkers, Lumines, Metal Gear Acid.

I also recommend Ridge Racer and Wipeout.
I like the way this guy thinks. Darkstalkers is pretty awesome once you get used to the controls, cause they react a bit different than a console fighting game.

Lumines, Ridge Racer, and either Darkstalkers or TM:HO. I picked up wipeout but am not sure what all the hype is about. I would rate Wipeout as one of the least fun psp games I've played which are NFS:U, Untold Legends(down in the dumps with Wipeout IMO), RR, Lumines, Darkstalkers, TM:HO, Thug2. I should give Untold Legends another chance with a new character but what I played with my Druid was horrid, hopefully I just picked a class not fit for my play style.

I really dont see what all the fuss is about with Lumines....I have the game, I love the game...but theres better games on the system.

Faults with Lumines:

1. Gameplay never really changes at all...no new obsticles with progression, except for new blocks.

2. Lack of Gameplay Modes.

3. The main mode is annoying when you get good, forcing you to be bored for the 1st 20 mins as you sleeply put blocks into place.. *yawn

4. Puzzle mode goes from "EASY", to "Christ on a Stick HARD"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Metal Gear Acid is a great game, my first venture into card battling and I think its pretty fun. BUT IT'S NOT METAL GEAR!! Just the look and feel....so dont expect the usual metal gear orgasms of delight, but you'll have some great times. I think its a must have.

Also, Wipeout Pure and Ridge Racers are phenominal....but you probably only need one racing game for your 1st three games. I recommend either....you decide...they're both freaking awesome.

If you have a Girlfriend or Wife, get Lumines or Ape Escape to make her part of your purchase....It'll ease the pain of spending 400 bucks if its for someone other than you. ;-)

Of course, you cant go wrong with a EA sports title if you're into that kinda thing!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So get:

1. Metal Gear Acid
2. Wipeout or RR?
3. Lumines

I love wipeout but got bored with ridge racer. the drift and the fact that it felt like a real race simulator kinda turned me off. but i like how you can pick up weapons in wipeout and the fact that there are tracks by Aphex Twin and NFO on there makes me extremely happy. i love it when devs put GOOD electronic music in their games instead of cheesy, generic 90s trance that they usually use.

Anyone? I know Ridge Racer is hard to find, but I suspect that it's because EVERYONE is buying it and it will be readily available down the line. However, I could be wrong...it's happened before.

Metal Gear Ac!d, for those who want something different- and can get over their stigmas about card gaming. I know I have. Oh, sweet merciful MG Ray card costing 50,000 points, you will soon be mine...

As far as games that are sold out, first and foremost, it's Ridge Racers. From Secaucus NJ to Manhattan NY, anyway. Unconfirmed but logical reports have been saying they underprinted copies of it... I stopped in at a shop in Brooklyn, they had three copies, but when the guy pulled it out of a garbage bag (albiet in pristine, wrapped condition) and asked 45 for it, I got a little wary... when I offered 32, and he went in back to "talk to his boss", I took that moment to tuck my PSP case clipped to my belt and jam it in my pocket. He said I could give the 32 and just come back to pay the rest tomorrow... but I'm guessing he meant leave my 32 there with the game, which wasn't going to float in my book.

MG Ac!d is definitely next on the unattainable, but can be found from time to time.

As for a third game, well, I'll leave that to what you like- puzzles, sports, Apes...

I just want my Ridge Racer, damnit. (But I love my Ac!d... Hell, I bought the PSP for that reason alone.)
