tornado in middle of soccer game

This has been posted before, but it's still cool. I want to see a real tornado in person. I know it's not wise to storm chase, etc, but that is on my life's to do list.

Wow, funky. It looks like the skies were completely clear too...

I think someone on the losing team must be a mutant.

I've seen one before and hope I never do again. Being in the path of a tornado is one of the most horrific things I've ever experienced. Trust me, you're better off watching them on TV or something.

Better make sure it's near the end of that list, otherwise you may be cut a little short...

time to find my dvd of twister :) or the day after tomorrow.
I was hoping a kid would get picked up in it. How dissapointing.
yea picked up and tossed into the other team's soccer net.... now would that be considered a goal?

You beat me too it. It is a Dust Devil. US used to be prone to those during the twenties and thrities in the low land states OK, TX etc. during the dust bowl.

Pretty sweet. They usually are not that big though :)
It's definitely a dust devil.

I have seen a tornado live before (when I was living in North Dakota) and trust me, it will scare the shit out of you. Most of the time it isn't like those tornado chasers you see on TV.
i think its a pretty amazing sight to see, but its the flying debries that will most likely kill you :(

We still get plenty of them, just not in the midst of disastrous drought such as existed then.

Around 1986 I was working at a computer store in Woodland Hills, CA. A couple of us were taking some empty shipping boxes out back to the dumpster and had just gotten to the door when we heard an odd rumbling noise that seemed to surround the building. We slowly open the back a little to see a mini-twister sucking up all the dust and debris in the parking lot. It managed to pull the dumpster up on end just enough to dump out the contents.

At first we just looked at each other thinking, 'Wow, that was kinda cool.'

Then it sank in who was going to have get all of the trash back into the dumpster.
