Somewhat a bummer. There were no units to be found in the SF Bay area since early last week so I was waffling whether to order on line or not. Being the CAG I am, I didn't want to pay shipping.

If you bought the 360 add-on with Heroes and the two box sets you cannot return them and rebuy them to get a 3rd HD-DVD. I took my receipt and tried to get them to give me a third DVD and the guy said 'either you return the other 2 box sets and pay the difference and we give you the 3rd free hd-dvd or you keep what you have' they know it was a glitch in the system that allowed that so they wouldnt let me get the third HD-DVD because when they returned-rebought it only took $35 off the box sets.

i am sure as hell glad that i took a drive down to Hiram, GA (an hour away from where i live) just to pick up Planet Earth in HD + Matrix Trilogy HD + Heroes HD...ESPECIALLY for Planet Earth...i'm in AWE at how AMAZING it looks!

okay, i'm confirming my own question from the other day: if you bought the 360 HD DVD/2 movies/Heroes set a couple weeks ago, you can definitely bring your receipt in and receive a third movie. i just did it this afternoon with no hassles. originally, i had purchased the HD DVD drive, Heroes, Polar Express and Batman Begins (no box-sets). today, i brought in only my receipt, went and picked out a movie (V for Vendetta) and headed to the CS counter. the girl there (with the help of a manager) refunded the original purchase to a giftcard, and then re-bought everything using the same giftcard.

as stated above, this isn't likely going to work if you had previously bought box-sets, but i had purchased two movies originally, so i was PM'ing the original, legit offer.

Well, my local Bestbuy has teh A-3 out of stock with a 199 price tag, another bestbuy close to me had one left with a 299 price tag. I talked them down to 250, but don't know if I should return it, or keep it.

Got a third movie for my $99 A2 and $199 A3 purchased on Saturday. Flirted a bit with the CSR (she was pretty cute) and she $0 out both movies for me. Didn't even scan my receipt, I'm sure I can go back again, lol.

Man, I am actually thinking about trying to get a third movie free with my 360 Addon receipt. If BB has no problem with it then why should I?

Anybody else feel uncomfortable about trying to get the third movie free with the 360 Addon?

I would like to get a 3rd movie also, although I got the BOX-SETS with my HD-DVD player. Plus, if they refund your purchase, does that make the rebate I sent it invalid, since it is on a new receipt.

I may be pressing my luck with the free movies though....since I did get the boxsets. I really want a free Transformers though :)

I couldn't get BB to give me another free movie with the promo this week. CSR said she'd have to take back Heroes since that was part of another promo, which was not running this week. But she had no problem accepting an online 10% coupon. Returned $21 and change, which is good for an HD-DVD at amazon

Tempting but I don't see myself upgrading to a 1080p TV for a few years. Guess I'll continue to be a douchebag till then

no no, you're okay. there's nothing wrong with it. you're just price-matching. nothing sneaky, nothing questionable... if there was, i wouldn't have done it myself (hence my originally only buying two movies, and not two box-sets).

it's completely legit. i brought in my receipt and gave them the old "80s Circuit City commercial line", "Two weeks ago, I bought this... and today I found this." the CSR and manager both understood the details precisely and were more than happy to honor the third movie.

so fear not. oh, wait -- you did buy two single movies the first time, right?

I'm tempted to still get this at $299, what is Best Buy's policy for price matching with instore pick-up? If I do instore pick up and then, say CC, puts the A3 on sale @ 199 (someone has to, since it was 199 online @ BB for a few days - a sign of things to come?) within the 30 days, will BB match it? Despite the "3 free" dvds and the instore pickup?

I checked their website but their explinations confused me. Anyone wanna help?

Glad you guys all most likely got upgraded. It turns out I got fucked. They claim that someone called saying it was me and cancelled my order. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me that they are sold out and the best thing he can do for me is offer me an HD-A3 with 10% off the $299 price tag. I told him that I'm aware that this happened to other customers and they have gotten confirmations that their HD-A2 orders are being replaced with the HD-A3 at no additional charge, he said he remembers that and that it was a decision that was made at the time and they are no longer honoring it...fucking bullshit. So since I placed an order for a $199 A3 I asked if he could knock the 10% off my current order...he then puts me on hold...

EDIT: So after I explained myself a few more times, the Supervisor finally said he understood and that he will request to see if I can get the HD-A3 for $100 shipped to me. I should hear something in 5-10 buis. days.
i thought you didnt even like the a3..
Me? Not sure yet. The one I purchased at Best Buy ($199 w/2 Preorders) doesn't work. I can't exchange it yet since no one has it in stock. Can't say if I like it or not since I haven't had a working unit yet. It plays DVD's but anytime I put an HD DVD in, I get an numbered error message or another message that says, "disc is not an HD DVD disc". Upgraded firmware and everything, just doesn't work.
