Total War... With Guns!??!?

Sounds wicked. I just bought the Total War Eras pack a month ago and even the games they made a decade ago are way too easy to play for hours straight. Can't wait for this.

To be fair though, Medieval had guns. They just sucked.

Sounds pretty awesome, I have only played Rome but that was awesome all by itself. Naval battles will add so much. I can't wait to see how they do them.

It opens up tons of new stuff by moving forward in time. Imperialism, the Civil War, Napoleonic Wars.

It's the biggest change the series has seen. I'm curious how the standard battle mechanics will handle the change.

I love the Total War series. Shogun is one of my favorite games, and Medieval is really more of the same, but better. I am really looking forward to the expansion -- I was a bit late to the Medieval 2 party, so I actually have held off playing it until the expansion is out, and then I can fully enjoy the entire experience. I like that the series is always your favorite old strategy game, but each sequel makes that favorite old game a little better than you remember it.

Naval combat is a *great* addittion. It's no fun in Medieval to rule the seas, because you have very few options and the fighting is auto-battle only; not to mention it's not always clear why ships sometimes sink and why they wouldn't.

I'm really excited to break a blockade by force, to send agents into enemy cities and set their ships ablaze, and to garrisson soldiers on ships in order to give them the upper-hand in Naval battles. Not to mention cannoning down the walls of a port city, unloading a retinue of soldiers on land via canoe, and storming the city.

All of the screenshots are of sea-battles only; I hope they're just pimping out their latest and greatest new feature, and not abandoning the strong foundation they've already built with land combat. Though, who knows, it might be nice to play a Total War game that isn't just a mod of its prequel. :)
