I love shooters, so I've been cautiously optimistic about this game since I heard about it. So far GameRankings only has 1 review of it from a European website, but they give it an 8.7 for the single player alone (no chance to test the multiplayer).

Gamestop has it shipping at $30 - I was under the impression it might be a budget title, so this makes me a little more hesitant to grab it, but that review is so positive I might have to.

Has anyone else gotten to play it, maybe on import or some other less legal method? My main concern is length; I hate paying $30 for a game that you can beat in a weekend.

Let the touching begin!

Game Informer gave it a 7 and a 6.25.

The only main complaint in the review is that the game is too hard.

I'm interested in it, but waiting for more reviews... Game Informer talks a bit about the mechanics, how it's hard to get off a head shot, every bullet counts, and they mention 4 or 5 times that the game is incredibly painfully hard.

On the latest EGM Live podcast, someone talks about Touch the Dead. They said that the reload mechanic sucks, and they mention another flaw. After you beat a level, you start the next with whatever life you had left over. While that might not seem too bad, when you do eventually die, you start that level over again with the previous health level.

So if you have one health bar left after making it to level 2, then die, you start level 2 with one health bar left again - over and over. Pretty dumb design.

Yea, Game Informer hated that mechanic too, said that's one of the reasons why it's so hard, because there are some bosses that will just rip your life bar to shreds and you start the next level with whatever you have left.

For some reason I imagined this coming out at $20...does not seem like a $30 game at all.

Looks like an interesting game, I think I'd rather wait for it to be cheaper though.

They claimed it was tough to make a headshot because of the way the zombies walk, apparently they waggle their head around instead of just keeping it straight and wasting even one bullet means you're screwed.

Seems like that would be necessary since the touch screen is usually very precise - if they didn't move fairly irradically then I feel like it would be really easy to get headshots.

Of course, I haven't played it yet, so we'll see.

bah, nope. At $20 without backward mechanics, possibly, $30 with that awful sounding reload/health system is a not until sub $10 purchase.

Which I expect it to be by christmas.

I thought it had to do with House of the Dead (guess it doesn't) so I don't have much interest in it anymore

I hate when developers do that. They take a game I should love, and put some ridiculous gameplay mechanic in it. In this case the retarded life bar. Definitely not picking it up now.

I don't know. I'm currently on the fence about this game. I was really excited, then I heard some negative things about it. I'll get to play it this weekend, so that will be the deciding factor for me since I have about $50 in store credit at the gamestore I frequent.

Not worth $30. $20 isn't too bad, but I still wouldn't pay more than $10 for it. I'm really surprised this game came out at $30.

Nope

I was interested originally but that went away fast. The difficulty isn't a big concern for me as the bad mechanics are, which in the end are tied together.
Did someone say Wake the Dead?

/playing too much Puzzle Quest
lol. puzzle quest = greatness in such a tiny cartridge

played the european rom on my G6. Stay away from this, the way the life bar is handled makes the game ridculously hard. The graphics are awful, sub-20 just for multiplayer.

So, I got Touch the Dead from the B2G1 at GS this week, w/ Edge it was like $16 for it when it was all said and done.

I've played it about 30 minutes, and I can see why people have the gripes they do, but it's not as awful as everyone is saying. As a huge zombie and shooter fan, I encourage people to try this game before they write it off as garbage.

Definitely not worth $30 though, I don't know what they were thinking.

Wow, this game is underrated. I paid $25 for it new, and it was worth it.

I say give it a try. I find it real addicting and fun.

the game isnt that bad. its not that hard for me either. i died about 3 times in the whole game. the game is really short. the reload does suck, u have to drag and drop from the bottom right corner to the bottom left corner. story sucks. pretty much no story at all.

Rented this from Gamelfy a little more than a week ago.

Played it for a little bit, got bored, raped it with Action Replay so I could get some enjoyment out of it, then sent it back.

It's maybe a $15 game. Maybe.
