Tower Records video game clearence sale

Scahom1

CAGiversary!
Hey guys, just got back from my local Tower Records. Apparently the company is no longer selling video games, as their entire inventory is on clearence sale. Some great deals to be found...

XBOX 1st party controllers: $15
PS2 1st party controllers: $12
XBOX DVD remote: $10
wireless dance mats $10

NEW Gamecube $70!!!
GBA (not SP) $50

As for games, a ton of them are on sale for $9.99. Among the ones I remember...

007: Nightfire
007: Everything or Nothing
Balders Gate 2
Castlevania
. Hack #1
Enter The Matrix
Prince of Persia
Rainbow Six 3
Rachet & Clank 2
XIII
TMNT
Metroid Prime
The Thing
SW: KOTOR
SW: Jedi Outcast
Otogi
The Suffering
Driv3r ($30)
GTA double pack (XBOX, $30)

This is certainly exclusive to certain markets, since the manager told me all the stores in the CT area sent their inventory to my local store.

EDIT: Store locator...http://www.towerrecords.com/stores/default.asp

Thanks for the list guys! I'm stopping by Tower tomorrow to check what they have. Anybody notice Prince of Persia there, or do they not carry it?
If you don't see it on the shelf ask if they have it in back. I did and they had a copy for each system.
Alright. Thanks for the tip. Here's hoping for PoP and Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando!

I can confirm these games that he stated.. I went there yesterday after seeing Resident Evil 2 at the movie theater next door. I was mostly looking at the cube games but I do remember seeing NFL2k3, NHL3k3, Agent Under Fire, some Harry Potter games, spy hunter, LOTR?, way too many copies of BMX XXX, Mortal Kombat:DA (Is this any good?) Starfox, metroid , Enter the matrix (I will wait til the PC DVD verison drops in price)Agent under fire, nightfire, Eternal Darkness (picked this one up because of the good reviews and since TRU was selling it for like 17 bucks :p) .. if you look behind that box holder you will find some more games on the shelf ...some of which where games like Rebel Strike, Wario World (is this game good?) , Metal Gear twin snakes (is this game any good?) for about 20 bucks each., and a few other games. to the right of the clearance section of games you will find some accesorries for like 9.99 including a universal stearing wheel , some a/v switch boxes, controllers (3rd party) and a few others... I also saw some wierd PS2 Starter box suposly containing the PS2 and some other goodies for like $280.00! Good greif! Anyways watch out for those employees since like 95% of them are gothic high school freaks (so this is where they go when no other store won't higher them)..I would hate to see what the manager looks like.
Hey put me on the list for NoVA since I live in Chantilly, roughly 10 mins from that store near the movie theater (fairfax towncenter)..btw does anyone know why that movie theater sucks?as in why they didn't bother to show Spiderman 2, Van Helsing, Garfield, Sherk 2, etc?
For thos in NoVa, I'll try to remember what was still left at the Fairfax Tower.
I think they had:
Star Wars Jedi Academy (Xbox)
Metal Gear Substance (Xbox)
Silent Hill 2 (PH Xbox)
Spy Hunter II (Xbox)
Otogi (Xbox)
Freedom Fighters (Xbox)
Dragon's Lair (Xbox)
Jedi StarFighter (Xbox)
NHL 2003 (Xbox) for $5.99
Maximo (PS2)
GTAIII (PS2)
Ace Combat 4 (PS2)
Namco Collection (PS2)
Eternal Darkness (GC)
BMX XXX (GC)
Spy Hunter (All Systems)
Hobbit (All Systems)

And yes we should definitely start a MD/ Wash. D.C./ NoVa thread for all of us CAGers in the Metro Area. Maybe we can have it in the request a deal section on this site.

Just got back from the Fairfax Tower! No Metroid (sadly), no Going Commando, and no Prince of Persia (double aw). I picked up Gran Turismo 3 and LOTR: The Two Towers, though. Wanted Devil May Cry 2 so badly, but....

Well, I'm planning another trip back there within this week. There's still a few games I'd like to check out.

Does it have to do with it being a United Artists owned theater? I usually go to the Multiplex off of New Braddock or the New Fairfax Corner Theater off of Monument Drive (just down the street for the Fairfax Towncenter).

Although it moviephone.com still calls it United Artist it is slowly externally being transformed into Regal Cinema. Since the "take over" that theater has lost both THX Certified screens, increased its prices, seems to be running by some nerd manager who is picky about what movies to show so hit movies AREN'T SHOWING (this worries me since I get the feeling that Episode 3 MIGHT NOT PLAY THERE or NO MIDNIGHT SHOWING :I) , all to get nice new seats..blah.. err other movie theater NEAR This one? The Centerville one still sucks (sticky floors) Can you PM me an address so I can mapquest it or give me the full name of the theaters near the fairfax towncenter one? thanks
Ok question. Is everyone seeing halfway old games for this overall? Based upon games it looks like it kinda. Like no fairly recent 3-4 month old games.
My requests(if anyone finds them):
Starfox Adventures(NON-PC edition. If it's PC I'm not interested.).
Super Monkey Ball(the same terms apply here)
Fallout XBox

I appreciate the help of people.

This post made me laugh.

Star Fox and Super Monkey Ball are specifically GBA and PS2 only games. Sorry.... maybe once Metroid Echos has migrated from the XBOX they'll become PC games, but until then, strictly GBA and PS2....

I'm pretty sure the poster meant PC as in Player's Choice.

I made the promised stop back to the Fairfax Towers today, planning to pick up DMC2. They didn't have it in stock, but I did ask, and they found a copy of Prince of Persia (PS2 version) and Metroid Prime in the back! Sadly, still no Going Commando, but I'm very happy with my total haul. LOTR: TT, Gran Turismo 3, PoP, and MP for 40 plus tax. Not bad at all.

Thanks OP!

Nice, did they have any other copies of PoP or MP?

(EDIT: Never mind, just called and they do. Thanks for the heads up!)

No problem. So you're around Fairfax too?

Yep, Falls Church. I'm actually closer to the Tysons store, but it was worth the drive. Strange how they had the two games tucked away in the back...

oh man, I'd love to get 007: EoN and The Suffering for XBox. weren't they both $10?

then again, I picked up a Gamecube Wavebird controller last night... $15 :)

I thought this thread could use a good bump, because...

I went to my Tower Records today in Schaumburg, IL, and they have a new coupon at the cashiers that read: "$10 off any purchase of $50.00 or more".

Since they still have about 5~6 Gamecubes for 69.99 and 5~6 PS2 bundles (PS2, extra 3rd party controller, Metal Gear Solid 2, cheat device, and controller extender cables) for 149.99, It's a great way to reduce the prices down to 59.99 and 139.99, respectively.

yeah im from sacramento and the arden store is cleaned out, nothing but junk there now. like a ton of hobbits and spy hunter 2, etc...

could anyone pick me up a copy of the suffering (xbox) and star wars:kotor? i am willing to pay the price of the game, shipping cost, and a little extra for the time and gas money. i have no idea how to get to the one in richmond and don't feel like getting lost. also if you can,pm me about it.

Was it a coupon or a sign promoting the offer?

It's a stack of coupons at the counters. Good until 10/31, I believe.

Games are slim pickings now. I went back recently to my location in Portland to see if I could find anything else. Picked up three games. Except I ran into an employee switch that wasted my time. I bought the last copy of PoP for $9.99 and took it home. The manual and game inside was XIII and it was an obvious reseal. Some employee must have switched the inserts. Lucky for me I found two copies of XIII when I went back, and had a cashier open them. My PoP was in one of them, so I switched inserts and left. No chance in hell that the nice rare games are left. Just a lot of high priced ones or low priced mundane ones like Hobbit and Spy Hunter 2.
